Series-Fed Microstrip Array Antenna for Millimeter-Wave Applications (밀리미터파 대역 응용을 위한 직렬 급전 마이크로스트립 배열 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, design of series-fed microstrip antennas with sum and difference patterns is presented for millimeter-wave applications. The antenna was designed to exhibit high-gain and low side-lobe level(SLL) below -20 dB. A conventional transmission-line model, Taylor and Bayliss distributions were employed to determine current distribution for sum and difference patterns. Moreover, connecting lines between microstrip patches were tuned to achieve an optimized design. The measurement was also performed to validate the designed antennas.

  • Recently, mechanically beam-steering microstrip patch array antenna using MEMS technology is developed and tested. In this paper as an application of developed antenna, new radiation pattern synthesis method far beam-steering antenna without phase-shifter is proposed, and applied to synthesis of desired beam shape. Niching genetic algorithm using Restricted Competition Selection (RCS) is used for radiation pattern optimization. This approach can be applied to design of array antenna for meet EMC standard and through proposed method specific beam shapes can be synthesized.

  • A novel microstrip circular slot antenna fed by a spiral line is presented in this paper. This antenna is a planar equivalent structure of an eccentric spiral antenna generates a circularly-polarized wave. We have investigated the input impedance and radiation characteristics of this antenna by using an EM (electromagnetic) simulator, and obtained a design method [or optimum structure. The main characteristic of the antenna is that the main beam direction is off-normal to the antenna plane and moves linearly into ${\theta }$ and ${\phi }$ direction as the frequency increases. This feature allows one to predict the main beam direction easily for a given operating frequency. This antenna has axial ratio lower than 3 dB in the direction of main beam over one octave bandwidth.

  • In this paper, a compact CPW-fed antenna for 2.45 GHz band WLAN applications is presented. The proposed antenna which has a geometry of folded stub and slot is fabricated into an inexpensive FR-4 substrate that has a dielectric constant of 4.2 and a thickness of 1.0 mm with optimized parameters obtained by simulation, and then measured. From measured result, we confirmed available operation as antenna for WLAN applications by obtaining the return loss level of < -10 dB in the frequency band of 2.4-2.484 GHz.

Wideband Microstrip Antenna with the Double U-slots (이중 U-슬롯을 이용한 광대역 마이크로스트립 안테나)

  • In this paper, the broadband microstrip antenna with small size, thin-profile, conformability and ease of manufacture is proposed for providing PCS(down link: 1.75GHz∼1.78GHz, up link: 1.84GHz∼1.87GHz) '||'&'||' IMT-2000(down link: 1.92GHz∼1.98GHz, up link: 2.11GHz∼2.17GHz) services simultaneously. By using double U-slots and matching stub, the bandwidth and operating performance of printed antenna was significantly improved, with need for a complex fabrication procedure. We have also studied the various parameters of the U-slot$_2$for the performances of the antenna. Impedance bandwidth of the wideband microstrip antenna with the double U-slots is about 30.45% (VSWR<2)

  • This paper presents the optimum design method for T-shaped microstrip-line-fed slot antennas on various substrates. Since the impedance bandwidth of the antenna depends highly on the vertical offset position and the length of horizontal strip conductor, we derived the formulas regarding these design parameters to get the maximum bandwidth. The formulas can compute the offset position and the length of horizontal strip conductor for any given substrate parameters. We compared the results obtained by using these design formulas and the one obtained by the simulation for each slot width, and it showed very good agreement.

  • In this paper, the compact antenna for handsets is designed using FR-4 substrate for LTE(905-960 MHz), WCDMA(1922.8-2167.2 MHz), DCS(1710.2-1879.8 MHz), US-PCS(1850.2-1989.8 MHz), WLAN(2400-2483 MHz). The CPW line with many advantages and a spiral geometry for miniaturization is proposed. Widths of a spiral line are constant, and three stubs are added to broaden the bandwidth. Lengths and widths of three stubs are gradually changed. And proposed antenna is optimized for VSWR<3, designed, and fabricated. The dimension of this antenna is only $40{\times}30{\times}1mm3$ which is compact. It has been demonstrated by experiment that the compact planar antenna can be used as the mobile communication LTE antenna for 4G.

  • MIMO transmission systems can have various transmission modes, which result from the various combinations of the antenna diversity with spatial multiplexing. In this paper, we find the optimal mode to maximize the capacity with the BER constraint and the optimal selection (diversity transmission or spatial multiplexing transmission) for transmission of each transmission antenna, if necessary. The computer simulation results show that the proposed scheme has more capacity than the conventional scheme.

  • A circular UHF RFID tag has been designed. This circular tag antenna can be optimized simply by controling two parameters, outer radius and inner radius of the tag antenna. The resistance and resistance values of the tag antenna have been researched based on the variation of inner and outer radii of the circular tag antenna. The simulation and measurement results are compared.

  • 구형도파관의 넓은 면에 축방향 슬롯을 파고 또 각각의 슬롯을 축방향으로 배열하였 때의 원거리 방사패턴을 구하는 과정을 보였으며 측정된 결과와 계산결과를 비교하였다. 방사전자계는 슬롯의 표면에 유기되는 등가의 자기전류로부터 계산할 수 있으며 임의의 개수를 가지는 배열안테나의 경우에는 각각의 슬롯이 자기 어드미턴스와 상호결합에 의한 영향을 받기 때문에 원하는 방사패턴을 얻기 위해서는 상호 어드미턴스를 고려하여 슬롯의 길이와 오프셋을 고려하여야 한다. 슬롯에서의 전계분포 해석은 모멘트법(method of moment)을 사용하여 해석하였다. 본 연구에서는 직선편파특성을 가지는 슬롯 배열 안테나의 설계를 위하여 슬롯의 자기 및 상호 어드미턴스를 구하고, 반복적인 수치해석 과정을 통하여 입력임피던스의 최적화 방법에 대하여 논하였다.
