WSN Safety Monitoring using RSSI-based Ranging Technique in a Construction Site (무선센서 네트워크를 이용한 건설현장 안전관리 모니터링 시스템)

  • High incident of accidents in construction jobsite became a social problem. According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), more than 60,000 fatal accidents occur each year in construction workplace worldwide. This number of accidents accounts for about 17 percent of all fatal workplace accidents. Especially, accidents from struck-by and falls comprise of over 60 percent of construction fatalities. This paper introduces a prototype of a received signal strength index (RSSI)-based safety monitoring to mitigate the potential accidents caused by falls and struck-by. Correlation between signal strength and noise index is examined to create the distance profile between a transmitter and a receiver. Throughout the distributed sensor nodes attached on potential hazardous objects, the proposed prototype envisions that construction workers with a tracker-tag can identify and monitor their current working environment in construction workplace, and early warning system can reduce the incidents of fatal accident in construction job site.

  • 최근 정보처리기술의 비약적인 발전은 소셜미디어를 통해 생산되는 종합정보의 처리를 용이하게 하였으며 광역적 의사소통을 가능하게 하였다. 이와 같은 기술의 발전을 재난관리에 적극 활용하려는 움직임이 확산되고 있으며, 이는 국내외의 여러 사례들을 통해 그 필요성이 입증되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 국립재난안전연구원에서 개발한 실시간 소셜 빅데이터 모니터링 시스템인 '소셜빅보드(Social Big Board)'를 활용하여 대상 기간 동안의 지역별 위치공개 트윗 현황을 조사하였다. 이를 위해 전체 재난 안전관련 트윗 중 위치정보공개 트윗을 대상으로 분석을 수행 하였으며 그 결과, 분석기간에 따른 전체 트윗과 지역별 위치정보공개 트윗은 재난상황의 발생과 피해규모에 따라 발생의 정도가 다르게 나타나는 것을 확인하였다. 향후, 재난 안전과 관련된 위치정보공개 트윗의 지속적인 모니터링 수행을 통해 신뢰성 있는 재난 대응체계 구축이 가능할 것으로 기대된다.

  • It is important for national safety that tank lorry or bulk lorry which is carrying toxic gas or explosive materials should be monitored during the maneuvering from starting point to destination as well as vehicle or tank status. Therefore, we propose a safety monitoring system for tank lorry to check driving condition and the vehicle status. We studied the integration of central control system with in-vehicle computer system connected with various sensors for monitoring through a communication network.

  • 본 논문에서는 도시 개발현장의 재해저감시설 중 하나인 침사지겸 저류지의 효과평가를 위한 모니터링 방안을 제시하였다. 전 지구적으로 기온이 급격히 상승하고 있으며 이상 자연현상이 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 특히 우리나라는 매년 태풍에 영향을 받고 여름에 강수량이 집중되고 있다. 개발 중 지표면이 침식에 노출되고 불투수면적의 증가로 홍수위험이 높아져 재해영향평가제도에 따라 침사지겸 저류지를 설치하여 토사의 하천 유출을 방지하고, 첨두유출을 완화시키고 있다. 설치 시 외국의 경험식과 재해영향평가서 기준 기상청 관측대의 30년 빈도 강우량을 사용하고 있으나, 유형 및 제원의 적절성의 효과평가 방안이 부재하다. 향후 이상기후로 강하고 잦은 폭우가 예상되며, 이로 인한 홍수 피해를 예방하기 위한 침사지겸 저류지에 대한 효과 평가 방안이 필요하다. 이에 침사지겸 저류지의 재해저감 효과평가를 위해 타 재해저감시설 모니터링 체계 분석을 통해 수위값과 퇴사위 계측을 활용한 침사지 겸 저류지의 모니터링 방안을 도출하였다.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the danger signs of buildings and present a plan to install a building monitoring system to develop measurement technology for small private buildings in the blind spot of disaster safety. Method: The cause of building risk behavior, components of monitoring measuring equipment, location of measuring equipment installation, management plan, etc. are presented. Result: Measuring instruments essentially include acceleration sensors, tilt sensors, gyro sensors, GPS, etc. The measuring instrument should take into account the height and cross-sectional area of the pillar. Conclusion: The results of this study can strengthen disaster safety capabilities in preparation for disasters arising from building collapses that may occur in small private buildings.

  • The cultivation area and use of genetically modified (GM) crops have been increased continuously over the world. Seed distribution and transgenes to environmental ecosystem is one of the most important factors in risk assessment and risk management of GM crop. Safe management for the development and commercialization of GM crops is required according to The Act on Transboundary Movements of Living Modified Organisms,etc (LMO Act) in Korea. This study was conducted to setup the environmental monitoring system of GM zoysiagrass (event JG21 and JG21-MS). The monitoring was performed in 4 GMO confined fields, Sungwhan, Ochang, Jeju University and Jeju Namwon. In the result of monitoring, we could not found any gene flow and distribution of GM zoysiagrass in the 3 fields, but one spill of JG21 was found in the Namwon field in 2012. These results suggest that continuous monitoring is necessary to detect the occurrence of GM zoysiagrass for preventing genetic contamination in natural environment.

  • Concrete placement work is executed using temporary structures such as formwork, support, etc. The temporary structures could collapse when they are not properly supported, and need to be monitored for structural safety. This paper introduces a USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Network)-based monitoring system that are being tested at the Pusan National University for increasing structural safety. The system takes advantage of ubiquitous technologies together with a variety of sensors, which allows for wireless transmission of construction monitoring data. The temporary structures are constantly monitored to find out whether the structures are being supported in a stable condition. A field test is being conducted to acquire data, and use them for evaluating the safety condition of the construction operation.

  • 본 연구는 치수효과가 높은 하천제방의 안전도 향상을 위한 관리 고도화 기술 개발을 위하여 수위, 유량이 제방의 안전에 미치는 영향을 규명하고 센서 기술 적용하여 실시간 제방 안전관리 모니터링 기술을 확보하는데 있다. 이를 위해, 국내외 기술동향 및 사례분석하고, 변위발생 및 안전성 모니터링을 위한 센서 기술 적용 방안, 센서 적용시 문제점 및 개선방안, 분석방법 등에 대해 정리하였으며, 대형 토조를 이용하여 집중강우 등에 의한 수위 및 유속의 증가에 따른 하천제방에 미치는 영향을 실험적으로 규명하고, 이를 센서 기술을 적용하여 실시간 모니터링을 통한 안전성 평가 방법을 제시하고자 하였다. 하천제방은 종방향으로 긴 구조적 특성을 갖고 있으며 이러한 특성상 모든 구간에 정밀한 계측 장비를 설치하여 운영 관리함에 있어 경제적, 효율적인 측면에 있어 문제가 있는 것으로 사료된다. 따라서 주요 하천시설물 중 구조물이 하천제방을 횡단할 경우 주요 구조물에는 집중형 센서인 FBG 타입을 도입하고, 제방 연통실험 등을 통해 조사 분석된 취약 구간에 대해서는 분포형 센서인 BOTDR 타입의 광섬유 센서를 적용하여 종합적인 관리가 가능하도록 시스템 구성이 필요한 것으로 판단된다.

  • A pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) camera-based monitoring system for efficient monitoring in the engine room of a vessel was designed. A number of places exist where traditional analog instruments are still used in vessel engine rooms, and blind spots closely related to safety exist, for which flooding or fire is a concern. A camera-based monitoring system that guarantees a wide range at a relatively fast cycle for these monitoring points can be an effective alternative to enhance the safety of a vessel. Therefore, a multiview monitoring system is proposed in which the functions of the existing PTZ camera are further strengthened using a software. The monitoring system comprises four modules: camera control, location registration, traversal control, and multiview image reconstruction. The effectiveness of the method was evaluated through a series of experiments in an engine room environment.

  • The government of South Korea has made great efforts in the area of railway safety management by means of a railway safety law and an integrated railway safety plan established in 2004 after the Daegu subway fire accident. However, after certain railway incidents, a reactive railway safety management system has been implemented that has led to fatal accidents caused by the collision, derailment, and fire every year. Hence, this study is intended to propose a framework that integrates data from distributed detection devices into a real-time railway safety monitoring and control system for proactive safety management. Furthermore, we will provide a future development direction for safety performance monitoring indicators to determine whether the railway safety monitoring and control system works effectively. The proposed framework is expected to be a cornerstone for the real-time railway safety monitoring and control system to be implemented in the future.
