A Study on Elderly for Improvement of Usability on Smartphone (고령자의 스마트폰 사용성 향상을 위한 연구)

  • The introduction of iPhone was an opportunity to increase of internal smarphone users in 2009 and it exceeded 15 millions at August, 2011. According to report about usage of smartphone users, elderly people aged over 60 was quite low compared to other groups. Moreover these elderly peoples feel lag behind cause of smartphone non-use. Thus, the aim of this research is to improve usability of smartphone for elderly peoples. The performance evaluation program and questionnaire were developed for this purpose and objective data and subjective data were collected through these. 22 elderly peoples participated in our research and we could derived proper level of target. The results of this research will be applied to smartphone or application for elderly. The meaning of this research is reveal the detailed touch target for elderly based on smartphone environment.

The effects of pixel density, sub-pixel structure, luminance, and illumination on legibility of smartphone (화소 밀집도, 화소 하부구조, 휘도, 조명 조도가 스마트폰 가독성에 미치는 영향)

  • Since the domestic introduction of iPhone in 2009, use of smartphones rapidly increased and many tasks, previously performed by various devices, are now performed by smartphones. In this process the importance of reading little text using small smartphone screen has become highly significant. This research tested how display factors of smartphone (pixel density, sub-pixel structure, luminance) and environmental factor (illumination) affect legibility related discomfort in text reading. The results indicated that legibility related discomfort is largely affected by pixel density, where people experience inconvenience when the pixel density becomes lower than 300 PPI. Illumination has limited effect on legibility related discomfort. Participants reported more legibility related discomfort when stimulus presented in various levels of illumination rather than single illumination level. Sub-pixel structure and luminance did not affected legibility related discomfort. Based on the results we suggest lower limit resolution of smart devices (smartphones, tablet computers) of different sizes for text legibility.

  • Many people are now enjoying mobile games using various smartphone platforms. However, we have to develop games separately for each smart device platforms so far. Cocos2d-x, a game development framework is released to solve this problem. As a multiplatform version of the existing Cocos2d, Cocos2d-x can make one source code run on various platforms. It is an open software that is able to be used by everyone, and when using it, mobile games can be developed easily based on C++ and OpenGL. In this paper, we implemented a PC laboratory decorating game application, named ILove501, using Cocos2d-x. The 501 is a room number of our PC lab. ILove501 includes an educational feature of solving quizzes in order to highlight positive effects of game. For implementation of a multiplatform game, ILove501 was developed in Windows and iOS environment at the same time, and we verified the results of the execution by porting on a variety of devices such as Android, iPhone, iPad and Galaxy Tab.

  • Driver for safety always check the status of their vehicle, and it is essential to understand. When driver know vehicle driving status, there is know vehicle driving status to use vehicle realtime control data by OBD-II of vehicle network and connected OBD-II connector. But, connector to receive OBD-II data differ each communication connection method to connect smart device.(such as smartphone, blackbox, EDR) if vehicle driver change another smart device from smart device(such as android -> iphone, iphone -> android), vehicle driver exist the inconvenience that purchase new OBD-II connector. in this paper, As make up for the fault, there is to implement one OBD-II connector that integrate Bluetooth, Wifi, WCDMA module. as result, anything smart device was notified realtime vehicle control data through implemented one OBD-II connector in this paper

  • With increasing use of smartphone, users require a new message service to prevent security attack and provide integrated messages. Since smartphone uses data services such as 3G cell network and WiFi, it can provide reliable message transfer through various security policies. In addition, it can transfer various data collected using built-in camera and GPS. This paper proposes a smart message service platform which can provide security services such as authentication, confidentiality and integrity as well as transfer the integrated message including location, picture and text. To verity the functionality of the platform, this paper implements an iPhone app and message transfer server, and then shows the implementation results.

  • Most domestic educational mobile contents put special stress on learning foreign languages such as English, and usually the telecommunications companies and the education companies partner to provide mobile terminals with the contents such as video files. Recently the trend of mobile platforms for the educational contents have been changed because of the release the many kinds of smart phones like iPhone and Google Phone. In this paper, we design the educational contents for Korean listening education to aid to study Korean effectively as a foreign language. It carries out a detailed design to realize and run the contents based on the Android OS which is an open source platform backed by Google.

  • Most of the domestic educational mobile contents are concentrated on learning foreign languages like English and it's common to provide contents with mobile cellphone under partnership between mobile and education companies. In recently, the trend is that the mobile platform of educational contents is changing according to development of various smart phones like I-phone and Google-phone. In this paper, so, we implement listening contents for Korean education to support learning Korean as foreign language effectively. In detail, we implement the operation of contents based on android OS of Google open-type platform of smart phone.

  • 고객관리가 대두되면서 고객유지 및 관리를 위한 마케팅 기법 중에서 중요한 것이 마일리지 적립마케팅이며, 대표적인 방식으로 자바 카드(Java card)와 같은 스마트 카드 방식 및 스티커 또는 쿠폰, 도장을 이용한 방식을 들 수 있다. 그러나 현재 많은 업계에서 도입한 마일리지 관리가 오히려 다수의 마일리지 카드 소지로 인해 고객에게 불편함을 주고 있다. 몇몇 기업에서는 같은 계열사의 마일리지를 통합 관리하는 방식을 선보였으나, 불편함을 줄이기엔 역부족이었다. 본 논문에서는 현재 국내 및 전 세계에서 스마트폰 이용이 확산되고 있는 시점에서 스마트 폰의 한 종류인 애플사의 아이폰 어플리케이션, 즉 앱(App)을 활용하여 개인의 마일리지를 보다 효율적으로 관리할 수 있는 마일리지 통합 관리 시스템을 제안한다.

  • 본 연구에서는 최근 인기를 끌고 있는 스마트폰 중 하나인 Apple 사의 iPhone 3GS 용 차선이탈경보 애플리케이션 개발을 수행하였다. 국내외적으로 수행되고 있는 지능형 자동차 연구를 통해 개발된 다양한 안전주행 지원 기술들이 단계적으로 상용화되면서 자동차를 지능화시키고 있는 시점에서 고가의 안전주행 지원장치를 대체할 수 있는 플랫폼으로 스마트폰을 활용하고, 안전주행 지원기술을 애플리케이션으로 개발하여 사용자가 쉽고 저렴하고 편리하게 사용할 수 있는 제품을 개발하고자 하였다. Before-Market 에만 집중된 차선이탈경보장치 기능을 iPhone 에 적용하기 위해서 제한된 컴퓨팅 자원을 효율적으로 활용할 수 있는 차선인식알고리즘이 필요하고, 본 연구에서는 Hough Transform 기반의 알고리즘을 사용하였다. 이외에도 iPhone 이라는 플랫폼의 여러 가지 특징을 고려하여 애플리케이션을 개발하였다. 효율적인 영상처리를 위해 OpenCV 라이브러리를 사용하였고, 개발은 매킨토시 컴퓨터에서 개발 후 iPhone 에 탑재하여 확인하였다. 현재까지 개발된 애플리케이션의 기능에서 보완할 점은 차선인식률과 처리 속도를 향상 시키는 것이다. 2011 년 2 월까지 완제품을 개발하여 앱스토어에 등록하는 것을 목표로 하고 있으며, 향후 안드로이드용 애플리케이션도 개발할 계획이다.

  • Smartphone is a mobile device which can perform better than feature phone. Recently, growth in demand for advanced mobile devices boasting powerful performance, market share of smartphone is increasing rapidly in mobile device market, for example, iphone and android phone. Smartphone can provide many functionalities, e-mail, scheduler, word-processing, 3D-game, and etc, based on its powerful performance. Thus, various secret information is integrated in smartphone. To provide service, sometimes, smartphone transmits informations to outside via wireless network. Because smartphone is a mobile device, user can lose his/her smartphone, easily, and losing smartphone can cause serious security threats, because of integrated information in smartphone. Also data which is transmitted in wireless network can be protected for privacy. Thus, in present, it is very important to keep secure smartphone. In this paper, we analyze threats and vulnerabilities of smartphone based on its environments and describe countermeasures against threats and vulnerabilities.
