The selected research questions to achieve such research purpose are like the following. First, what is the correlation among school life adaptation, ego-resilience, and communications styles of father that child recognizes? Second, does the ego-resilience show mediation effect in the relationship between the school life adaptation and communication styles of the father that child recognizes? The subjects for this research were 345 children in 5thand 6thgrades from B elementary school in Seo-gu, Incheon. SPSS 18.0 program was used for the collected data, and correlation analysis was performed in order to discover the relationship among variables. Regression analysis was performed to verify the mediation effect of ego-resilience. The summary of this research is like the following. First, as the result of the correlation analysis of the father's communication styles, ego-resilience and the school life adaptation, which the child recognized, the three variables showed statistically significant correlation. Among the functional and dysfunctional communication styles that child recognized, the placating style showed positive correlation with ego-resilience and school life adaptation, and among dysfunctional communication styles, the intellectualizing style, distracting style, and blaming style showed negative correlation with ego-resilience and school life adaptation. Ego-resilience and school life adaptation showed positive correlation. Second, after looking at the mediation effect of ego-resilience in the relationship of the father's communication style and school life adaptation, the result showed that ego-resilience had partial mediation effect in the relationship of the father's communication style and school life adaptation. In this research, it has significance in the aspect that it confirmed the relationship and route between the father's communication styles, school life adaptation, and ego-resilience, which child recognized. Therefore, the effort is required to research and apply desirable communication method between fathers and children in order to help students to adapt well in school life, and moreover, it is also required that ego-resilience improvement program gets developed and applied at the school field.

  • The purpose of the present study was to investigate the structural relationships between adolescent problem behaviors and related variables. The subjects of this study consisted of 250 to second graders from a middle school in S city in the Gyeongbuk province of South Korea. The sample variance-covariance matrix was analyzed using AMOS 20.0, and a maximum likelihood minimization function. The results were as follows : First, marital conflict in terms of the father's open communication model indicated both a direct and indirect effect upon adolescent problem behaviors. Marital conflict in terms of the father's problematic communication model revealed an indirect effect upon adolescent problem behaviors also indicated that these behaviors were also mediated by the father's problems communication. Second, a open communication style on the part of the father indicated a partially mediating effect on the relationship between marital conflict and adolescent problem behaviors. The problematic communication model on the part of the father revealed a very clear mediating effect on the relationship between marital conflict and adolescent problem behaviors.

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of parent-child communication style on smartphone addiction and depression among female college students. The subjects were 151 female students in three different universities located in S city. Data collection for Parent-Adolescent Communication Inventory (PACI), Smartphone Addiction Proneness Scale, and the Center for Epidemiologic Studies-Depression Scale (CES-D) were conducted from November 1 to December 8, 2017. The collected data were analyzed by t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis. Smartphone addiction in college students was 35.08 (SD = 6.83), and when communication with the mother was absent and the problem recognized, smartphone addiction was higher (${\beta}=.27$, p = .028). Open communication with the father lowered smartphone addiction (${\beta}=-.27$, p = .030). Depression in female college students was 15.86 (SD = 10.45), and 45% experienced depression. Depression was higher when communication with the mother was higher (${\beta}=.29$, p = .022). Therefore, a customized communication program that focuses on parent-child communication as a strategy to reduce or prevent degree of addiction and depression of female college students will be helpful.

  • This paper was to investigate the relationships between the types of incest and family dynamics. 9 incest cases were collected from the Department of Social Work, Seoul National University Children's Hospital and an adoption agencies. The study cases were categorized into three types of incest, father-daughter incest, mother-son incest, sibling incest. The father-daughter incest families revealed various dysfunctional family dynamics such as sociopathic father, psychologically and physically absent mother, pseudomature child, and lack of communications among family members. In mother-son incest families, the fathers were absent and the mothers abused their sons as an outlet for their sexual desire, which was most pathological, among three types of incest. Sibling incests were characterized by the absence of parental supervisions and appropriate emotional care, and younger sibling becoming a sexual outlet of older sibling. It is evident that the incest does not occur simply because of pathology of one family member but because of family dystunction. Therefore the incest was a kind of 'family disease', and the focus of treatment should be on the whole family.

  • The purpose of this study is to classify the potential types of mental health of mothers of multicultural youth by applying Latent Profile Analysis, analyze the influence of predictors, and find out how differences in potential types affect parental efficacy. To this end, panel data for the 9th year (2019) of the Multicultural Youth Panel Survey (MAPS) were used. As a result of the analysis, first, the mental health types of mothers of multicultural adolescents were analyzed in the order of 'middle risk type of mental health'(class3) > 'high risk type of self-esteem'(class1) > 'high risk type of mental health'(class4) > 'cultural adaptation and daily life stress'(class2). Second, compared to the "class 1" group, the lower the family economy level of multicultural youth mothers, the lower the educational background of multicultural youth fathers (husbands) graduate from middle school, the lower the level of Korean, and the lower the level of communication with children, the higher the odds of belonging to the 'mental health medium risk' group (Ods). Third, compared to the 'middle risk type of mental health'(class3) and 'high risk type of mental health'(class4), the 'high risk type of self-esteem'(class1) group was found to have a significant positive (+) effect on parental efficacy.
