  • Purpose: The purposes of this study were to assess the parenting stress in mothers of premature infants and stress related characteristics of mothers and infants. Methods: The methodology was a cross sectional survey study using self-report questionnaires. Participants in this study were 36 mothers of infants with corrected ages of 4 months to 12 months who were born prematurely. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson correlation with the SPSS WIN 19.0 program. Results: The mean score for parenting stress in mothers of premature infants was $74.639{\pm}17.570$, indicating that the mothers actually experienced stress. When mothers were able to have some private time, parenting stress was statistically significantly lower. When the residential status was having one's own house and the local community provided informational support regarding child nurturing, there was a statistically significant decrease in the sub-category of particular infant temperament. There was a statistically significant positive correlation between mothers' depression and parenting stress. Conclusion: These results indicate that there is a need for nursing interventions to increase mothers' private time and to include informational support regarding health management of children including developmental status assessment from local communities.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of the sensory processing characteristics of parents of developmentally delayed children and parents of typically developed children on parenting stress. Methods : From July to August 2022, 61 parents of children with developmental delays and 64 parents of children with typical development who used occupational therapy services at pediatric clinics and child development centers were evaluated for parenting stress and sensory profiles. Results : In a multiple regression analysis on the effect of sensory processing characteristics on the total score of parenting stress, tactile processing (β = 0.353, p = 0.001), gender (β = 0.438, p = 0.000), and monthly income (β = -0.261, p = 0.014) significantly affected the parenting stress of the parents of children with developmental delay. In parents of typically developing children, tactile processing (β = 0.376, p = 0.002) and gender (β = -0.264, p = 0.024) were found to have a significant effect on parenting stress. Conclusion : Parental gender and tactile processing characteristics of developmentally delayed and typically developing children are significant influencing factors for parenting stress.

  • In this study, a sample of 249 mothers of 5- to 7-year-old kindergarteners responded to 4 questionnaires regarding maternal parenting stress, efficacy and behavior, and children's social competence. Teachers of the children also rated social competence. Correlations and regressions showed that parenting stress and difficulties in parenting were negatively related and parenting confidence and behavior were positively related to social competence, respectively. Parenting stress was the most influential variable to explain social competence. Maternal parenting stress was negatively related to parenting behavior and confidence, and it was positively related to difficulties in parenting. Parenting confidence was positively related and difficulties in parenting were negatively related to the subscales of parenting behavior, respectively. Parenting efficacy tended to play a mediating role between maternal parenting stress and parenting behavior.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of social support on the relationship between parenting stress and depression among parents of children with a disability. One hundred and fifty parents of children with a disability from Gwangju area were asked to complete a survey including The Parental Stress Scale, The Social Support Scale, and The Depression Scale. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 24.0. The results of the study are as follows: First, the correlation analysis showed statistically significant correlations among parental stress, social support and depression. Second, the simple regression analysis showed the direct effect of parental stress on depression. Third, the multiple regression analysis showed the mediating effect of social support on the relationship between parental stress and depression. This suggests the social support may reduce the negative effect of the parental stress on the depression. Implications, limitations, and suggestions for future study are discussed.

Data were collected using structured questionnaires about parental acceptance-rejection questionnaire, child abuse awareness and child abuse knowledge tool from 272 students attending one university located in A city from April 16 to 30, 2019, and were analyzed using t-test, One-way ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis test, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, multiple regression. The results of the study are as follows. First, child abuse awareness of the subjects were found that there was a significant difference according to gender, grade, number of siblings, level of knowledge about child abuse. Second, parental indifference/neglect attitude showed a negative correlation with child abuse awareness. Third, in relation to child abuse awareness, the explanatory power of gender, grade, number of siblings, knowledge level about child abuse, and parental bring-up attitude was 14.3%, and grade, number of siblings, knowledge level about child abuse, and parental indifference/neglect attitude were significant factors. The results of this study can be used as a major intervention strategy in the development of programs to improve child abuse awareness for college students through systematic and practical understanding.

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of parent - child interaction therapy on parenting skills and children's problem behaviors by meta - analysis and to provide a basis for intervention methods. Methods : This study was conducted from January 2007 to March 2018 and the study was conducted using the parent-child interaction program for children with disabilities. PubMed and CINAHL, EBSCOhost, Science Direct were used to search for studies, and reference searching was also conducted as a secondary search option. A total of 7 studies was selected to meet the selection criteria, and the final 7 studies were assessed by using the Jadad scale. Statistical tests were performed using the R-meta-analysis program. Results : The effect size of parenting skill was large and the size of the effect of parenting stress was moderate. The children's problem behaviors also showed moderate effect sizes and all p-values were statistically significant (p < .0001). Conclusion : This study examined the effects of parent-child interaction therapy on parenting skills, parenting stress, and children's problem behaviors. Future research is needed to establish the basis for intervention for family involvement in pediatric occupational therapy.

  • This study examined the mediating effect of depression on the relationship between over-control parenting styles and mobile phone dependency among children. The 5th-year longitudinal data from the Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) were collected from 4th grade elementary school students. The data were analyzed by the structural equation modeling and bootstrapping. The results of this study were as follows. First, there is a positive path from over-control parenting styles to depression, from depression to mobile phone dependency, and from over-control parenting styles to mobile phone dependency. Second, depression had a mediating effect on the association between over-control parenting styles and mobile phone dependency. Based on these results, more study of elementary school students' reliance on cell phones is needed.

For study 195 married immigrant women participated and structured questionnaire was used. This study identified that the variable of parenting stress directly affected child abuse and the variable of acculturation stress indirectly affected child abuse with a variable of parenting stress as a mediator variable. In addition, the variable of social support indirectly affected parenting stress with a variable of acculturation stress as a mediator variable. Also, the variable of social support did not directly affect child abuse, but it was verified as a protective factor to reduce the risk of child abuse.
