  • The researcher's objective is to analyze a case study from the teaching profession course entitled "Instructional Methods and Educational Technology: IMET," in which the instructional method 'Music Technology-Based Learning: MTBL' has been implemented. In addition to the analysis and the completion of the associated 16-week coursework, the researcher conducted an open-ended survey, and conducted and analyzed in-depth interviews, with participants in the case study. Using MTBL in IMET has elicited mostly favorable responses from participants such as "interesting" and "fun." They also mentioned "active learning participation." There were also negative responses to MTBL, citing "the lack of interconnection between MTBL and other teaching profession courses," "the difficulty of hybrid and convergence classes," and "the need for additional time and attention in an individual study." The analysis of this case study indicates that the use of MTBL in teaching profession courses somewhat enhances the understanding of the general concept of integrating technology into education, although some difficulties remain. The analysis of more case studies is required in order to establish more effective training courses, in which learning is not limited to the theoretical aspects of education. Using MTBL as an integrated part of the educational method would help to foster more creative and professional teachers.

  • In this study, we explored the characteristics of instrumental genesis in high school students' scientific inquiries. Twenty-three 10th to 11th graders in a science research club participated in this study. The students in 6 groups autonomously planned and performed their own scientific inquiries for one semester. Their activities were videotaped and recorded. Semi-structured interviews were conducted. Material request papers and group worksheets were also collected for analysis. The results of the study suggested that students' practices were categorized as instrument genesis. When instrument genesis did not occur, the cases at the beginning of and during the practice were described respectively. Instrumental genesis was found to appear in three categories: instrumentation; instrumentation and instrumentalization; and instrumentalization. The characteristics and details of case represented in each category were described and discussed related to affordance as the results of the study. On the bases of the results, the implications for the reconsideration of the instruments in school science inquiries are discussed.

  • The purpose of this study was to understand the experiences of work-family reconciliation of Korean nonprofit organization workers. To achieve this purpose, researchers collected data from in-depth interviews and analysed the data through qualitative case study approach that is useful to reveal the invisible phenomenon. As results, the researchers found several categories that were related to work-family reconciliation and experiences in those categories. Specifically, 'the richer-get-richer' in the category of institution, 'organizational culture is important', 'can use but also not', 'the pure value of work' in the work, 'struggling: acceptance and easing my mind' in the family and finally 'measuring and tightrope' in between the work and family. Penetrating analysis of the nature of these found three themes, 'ultimate choice, nonprofit', 'proper than the best: a tipped scale is also balanced', 'systems are living things: ever-changing'. Based on these findings, researchers suggested several policies and practical alternatives to support work-family reconciliation of NPOs and their workers in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the reality of verbal violence by leaders in the sports field to inform the seriousness of the damage suffered by athletes and to prepare a starting point for social interest and intervention. To this end, in-depth interviews were conducted with seven players who experienced verbal violence by the leader, and a qualitative case study method was adopted for a multifaceted analysis of verbal violence. As a result, 14 detailed areas and 5 categories were derived. Taken together, the verbal violence of the leader experienced by the players occurred in ambiguous, repetitive, and closed situations and had a structure of passive response. Since verbal violence affects the victim's personal and social problems without leaving evidence against trauma or perpetrators, a close understanding of the atmosphere and environment of the site is considered essential for preparing fundamental measures. Based on the results of these case studies, attention and intervention should be urged through understanding of secretly conducted verbal violence, and close policies should be prepared to supplement the blind spots of verbal violence.
