Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the quality improvement of dental prosthetic treatment and better dental service for the patients. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 320 users of dental prosthesis in Seoul and metropolitan area from April to June, The questionnaire consisted of 4 questions of general characteristics, 5 questions of dental prosthesis treatment, 5 questions of functional satisfaction, and 6 questions of psychological and aesthetic satisfaction by Likert 5 scale. Cronbach's alpha was o.691 in functional satisfaction and 0.716 in psychological and aesthetic satisfaction. Except 18 incomplete answers, 302 data were analyzed. Results: The functional satisfaction mean was $3.70{\pm}0.51$ and that of psychological aesthetic satisfaction was $3.60{\pm}0.48$. Monthly income was the most important influencing factor on full and partial prosthesis use. Conclusions: In order to improve the satisfaction level in dental prosthetic treatment, the insurance coverage for the dental prosthetic treatment is necessary. The palliative supportive measure for the prosthesis is also required.

There has been a growing interest in implant among dentists and patients, recently. Maintenance of the implant and prothesis is the key factor for a long tern1 success. This article describes several methods for maintenance care which can be achieved with the cooperation of the patient and the dental staff members. By following this maintenance program I hope that our patient can enjoy their implants much more.

Objectives : It examines influence of satisfaction with dental esthetics upon quality of life related to oral health after examining the satisfaction with dental esthetics and the quality of life related to oral health according to subjective perception. Methods : The subjects who have experience of dental esthetics from June 2010 to August 2010 in 50 places of hospitals and clinics with dental esthetics in Seoul, which were selected with convenience sampling, the structured questionnaire was widely distributed to 315 people who agreed to research. After making the subjects respond with self-reported method, data was collected. 298 copies except 17 copies were used in the final analysis. Results : The better in the perceived general health group led to the higher satisfaction with orthodontic treatment(p=0.001). There was significant difference even in satisfaction with dental bleaching(p=0.030). The better in the perceived general health group led to the higher quality of life related to oral health(p=0.002). The subjective perception was indicated to have relationship with satisfaction at dental esthetics or quality of life related to oral health. The satisfaction with orthodontic treatment(${\beta}$=2.142, p=0.038) was indicated to be relevant factor of having influence upon quality of life related to oral health. Conclusion : As a result of analyzing partial correlation analysis by having subjective perception as control variable, the satisfaction with orthodontic treatment and the life quality related to oral health showed positive correlation.

Purpose: The purpose of this prospective study was to compare the satisfaction levels of the patients worn implant supported mandibular overdentures and conventional complete dentures. Materials and methods: Full edentulous patients (n=40) who were planned to do implant supported mandibular overdentures, aged 51 to 82 years, were enrolled in this study. All subjects rated their satisfaction levels (mastication, pronunciation, esthetics, pain, and general satisfaction) of their original conventional dentures prior to treatment and their new overdentures 1 week and 12 weeks after the delivery on 10 cm visual analogue scales. Repeated-measures ANOVA was performed to compare the satisfaction level of each three period (P<.05). Results: The mean satisfaction levels of the implant supported overdentures after 1 week and 12 weeks of delivery were significantly higher than those of the conventional complete dentures in all scoring parameters (P<.05). After 12 weeks of overdenture delivery, the increase of the satisfaction levels in mastication, pronunciation, and pain and the decrease in esthetics and general satisfaction were observed in comparison with those after 1 week of delivery, however, no significant difference was found between the satisfaction levels of 1 week and 12 weeks after delivery. Conclusion: An implant supported overdenture might be one of the effective ways to give more satisfaction to patients who were not gratified with a conventional denture and eventually to improve their quality of life.

The maxillary anterior teeth play an important role in esthetics. The esthetic of maxillary anterior teeth is closely related to tooth morphology and also harmony with gingiva. Precise diagnosis and treatment plan are essential to satisfy patient's demand, and sometimes surrounding soft tissue management is involved to achieve the goal. Gingivectomy can be considered as one method to make esthetic restoration possible. As well as esthetics, function has to be considered in maxillary anterior teeth restoration. Definitive cast of abutment and diagnostic cast waxed up labially were superimposed with model scanner, so can provide former comfortable occlusion. This case report demonstrates functional and esthetic improvements of two patients through gingivectomy and the data of superimposed image of casts.

The purpose of this study was to research into the satisfaction with orthodontic treatment and the psychologically satisfactory condition to be expected, and to offer information in order to enhance medical-treatment service, by surveying the influential factors upon satisfaction with treatment targeting patients who receive orthodontic treatment. Targeting 382 patients who are under treatment at S dental clinic in Gyeonggi Province, B dental clinic in Daegu Metropolitan City, and Y dental clinic in Busan Metropolitan City, which specialize in orthodontic treatment, it carried out the direct interview survey of using the structured questionnaire from January 20, 2009 to February 28. The collected data was analyzed by using SPSSWIN 17.0 K. The following conclusions were obtained. 1. In the satisfaction with orthodontic treatment according to aesthetic factor, the group with bad aesthetic health condition was higher than the group with good health condition(p<0.05). As for the factor of tooth alignment, a case of good health condition was indicated to have higher(p<0.05) satisfaction than a case of being bad. 2. As for satisfaction according to necessity for orthodontic treatment, the satisfaction was high in a case of recognizing necessity much and of understanding medical-treatment contents much, and in a case of being well adjusted to the progression of orthodontic treatment. As for a psychological change after orthodontic treatment, the satisfaction was high in a case with a positive change(p<0.001). 3. The factors of influencing satisfaction with orthodontic treatment had significant influence in order of necessity for orthodontic treatment(p<0.001), adjustment to progression of orthodontic treatment(p<0.001), psychological change after orthodontic treatment(p<0.01), expectation level of dental health after orthodontic treatment(p<0.01), and understanding about treatment contents(p<0.01). As a result of research, the satisfaction with orthodontic treatment in patients with orthodontics is indicated to be relatively high. Thus, the careful consideration is considered to be probably necessary on qualitative part in medical treatment and on patients' expectation by grasping patents' mentally psychological condition.

Currently, digital technology is being used in various fields of dental treatment. In particular, in the case of anterior esthetic restoration, the traditional restoration method cannot contain facial information and it is difficult for the patient to predict the treatment result. However, in the case of esthetic restoration through digital design, the visualization of the prosthesis design and the ease of reflecting patient feedback, and expecting the treatment result is available. In this case, the patient confirmed the results of restoration treatment using a digital method before treatment and obtained consent for treatment in an anterior tooth trauma patient. In addition, since the conventional digital smile design method uses only the patient's facial and smile information, the design was made on a two-dimensional plane, and its application was somewhat limited. However, in this case, a three-dimensional virtual patient was created and thus the designed restoration was viewed from various angles. Through this case, it was possible to obtain a high degree of satisfaction with the ease of communication with the patient and the technician during the esthetic restoration using the digital method, the simplicity of the procedure, and the treatment result.

In the modern society, the awareness of images is affecting the body-related consumer behavior through mass media such as TV and internet, and SNS that has grown explosively with the wide availability of smartphones. As a consequence, the demands for aesthetic treatments by patients who wish to improve their inferiority complex are increasing. Patients who want aesthetic treatments display more active inclinations than those receiving general treatments, and have the expectation for the improvement in images along with the anxiety over potential functional problems and satisfaction about the outcomes. In the consultation of the patient of aesthetic case, the basic starting point is that the surgeon and the patient recognize improvement points that the patient expects through the aesthetic treatment. The consultation starting from the viewpoint of the patient proceeds in a way that the consensus is reached through the medical approach, eventually finding the balance between ideals and naturalness. The consultation process from the initial meeting is established at each stage of treatment, at which the consultation is correctly recorded and shared by the surgeon and the care staff. In addition, the consistent policy is implemented from the initial consultation through to the maintenance care. Together, these will result in the consultation based on the true communications leading to the outcome that satisfies the patient, the surgeon and the care staff, rather than the one that gives the patient an unfounded hope and leads to the unsympathetic outcome. This article introduces the consultation strategy for patients of aesthetic case based on the sympathy with them through cases of aesthetic treatment by type.

The treatment of patients with severe periodontitis should be proceeded step-bystep through an accurate diagnosis of each patients' individual tooth and with a strategic treatment plan. Implant-supported fixed prosthetic restoration has the advantage of high patient satisfaction and stable vertical dimension compared to the removable partial denture. However, multiple teeth defect areas lacking hard tissue may be disadvantageous in aesthetic failure and longer treatment time. In addition, it takes a certain period of time to manufacture and install a conventional fixed prosthesis, and during this process, the provisional prosthesis must satisfy the mechanical, biological, and aesthetic requirements of teeth. The purpose of this article is to describe the fabrication of implant-supported fixed prosthesis through a step-by-step approach in a partially edentulous patient.
