A Case Study on Application of the NABI Program to Realize the 'Practice Centered Mechanism of Manifesting Character' ('실천 중심 인성 발현 메커니즘' 구현을 위한 NABI 프로그램의 적용 사례)

  • Today, in accordance with emphasizing the importance of character education, science educators have tried to implement character education in the field of science education. Therefore, this research aims to confirm the possibility of the realization of 'Practice Centered Mechanism of Manifesting Character' developed on the basis of character education theory through the application of the NABI Program based on Nature-Study. For this, the NABI program was applied to 24 3rd grade students of an elementary school for a period of ten months. Qualitative data was collected like students' reports, journals, and video recording of the classes. This data was classified into 'value, judgment, action,' the steps of 'Practice Centered Mechanism of Manifesting Character,' and text was written by interpreting the data. The research resulted in the following: First, students formed 'value' by making a connection with the objects. And the various values - individual, interpersonal, social, ecological, and spiritual - are formed according to the type of objects with which the students felt a connection to. Second, students need to judge the problems of the real world at the 'judgment' step. Third, at the 'action' step, students practice moral behavior in relation to the sympathy or feeling they felt with the objects that they made a connection to. In conclusion, 'Practice Centered Mechanism of Manifesting Character' can be realized through the application of the NABI Program. The NABI Program can be a definite way to implement character education in the field of science education.

Directions for Character Education in Science Education and a Theoretical Approach of Nature-Study in Terms of Character Education (과학교육에서 추구해야 할 인성교육의 방향과 그 실현 방안으로서 Nature-Study에 대한 이론적 고찰)

  • This research aims to find directions for character education in science education and to analyze Nature-Study theoretically as one of the ways to implement character education in science education. In order to accomplish this, references for character education were collected and analyzed to derive the directions for character education in science education, and then the results were verified by expert workshops composed of 2 science education experts and 4 PhD students. Through the consideration of references for Nature-Study in terms of character education, we supposed to confirm that Nature-Study is an efficient way to implement character education in science education. The research resulted in the following: First, science education should establish it's own role in character education by expanding the domains of value and realizing practice-centered character education. Accordingly, 'Expanded model of character education (The domains of the value)' was developed on the basis of 'formation of relationships' with 'nature & environment, spiritual object' and 'The practice-centered character manifested mechanism' empathized 'formation of relationships' and 'practice' was also diagramed. Second, Nature-Study empathized 'Science Education through Nature' can be one of the efficient ways to implement character education in science education. Nature-Study corresponds with the directions of character education in science education because Nature-Study aims for character education in it's educational purpose and emphasizes 'formation of relationships' with 'nature & environment' and 'practice' in the real world. In conclusion, science education should establish it's own role in character education by expanding the domains of value and realizing the practice-centered character education and Nature-Study is efficient ways to implement character education in science education.

A study on the Existential-Practical Perspective of Nietzsche's Philosophie (니체철학의 실존적-실천적 관점에 대한 연구)

  • Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy embraces characteristics of existential philosophy and philosophical anthropology. In his book "Thus Spoke Zarathustra", Nietzsche defined human beings as an existence with innate possibility for change, beings that stand at the borderline between "the last man" and "the ${\ddot{u}}bermensch$", raising a question over the meaning of human being's existential healthiness. The anthropological symptoms that Nietzsche's philosophy deals with trigger existential problems, and healing these anthropological symptoms is a precedent to healing an existence. In Nietzsche's philosophy, the ${\ddot{u}}bermensch$ is presented as a prototype of practical man with a healthy existence, born from endeavors to heal the last man prototype of a decadence that was prevalent throughout Europe at the time. Nietzsche found the root cause of nihilism found in Europe in philosophy, religion, metaphysics, and Christianity, and attempted a genealogical investigation on this aspect. In so doing, a philosophical problem surfaced whereby only one truth was used to force diverse existential styles into a uniform style. Nietzsche intensively criticized philosophy and philosophers that only studied truths from metaphysical-Christian-moral perspectives, as they overlooked the foundation of true existence and presented human beings of a feeble mind and will as a result. Nietzsche emphasized the practical role of philosophy that can contribute to the human being's ascent and growth based on realistic conditions of human existence described as the earth, that philosophy that can serve as a basis for existential transformation of human beings and their lives. The task of philosophers is to lay the groundwork for the possibility of changes for all human beings and their realization. This existential practical foundation of philosophy can be called the ${\ddot{u}}bermensch$, as it is healthy man, the "greatest reality" as Nietzsche desired.

Research a Study on Awareness and Practice of Personal Information Protection in Students (대학생들의 개인정보 보호인식과 실천에 대한 인지도 조사연구)

  • This study is expected to be of significance in that it attempted to examine the personal information protection awareness of college students and the state of their personal information protection as prospective information processors and private information owners to boost their will to put private information protection in practice. As a result of making an analysis, the most common average time that the students spent in doing every online activity on weekdays was fewer than two or three hours, and the most dominant activities that they did over the Internet were for entertainment or hobbies. As for awareness of the nature of the Internet, they looked upon it as a quite open public space. Regarding the state of private information protection, they thought that changing passwords on a regular basis would be beneficial to personal information protection, and many thought that it's needed to withdraw from or shut down web sites that weren't used for a long time. In terms of actual practice, however, they didn't change their e-mail passwords regularly on the grounds that it's a hassle, and even the students who had experience of personal information leakage didn't report it or didn't ask for counsel on the grounds that they didn't want to be bothered as well. The majority of the students weren't cognizant of how to report or seek counsel. In the future, personal information protection should be educated on a continual basis as part of curriculum to raise awareness of it among students and boost their will to practice it with a sense of responsibility in an effort to prevent the occurrence of collateral damages triggered by personal information leakage.

Development and Application of Climate Change Education Program in Middle School Science (중학교 과학과 기후변화 교육 프로그램 개발과 적용)

  • The purpose of the study was to develop a middle school science climate change education program, apply the program, and analyze the effects of the program. The climate change education program improves understanding of climate change and ability to take action about climate change. The results of this study are as follows: First, middle school science climate change education program was developed to cover eight topics. The middle school climate change education program contained the phenomenon of climate change, the cause of climate change, the impact of climate change, and a climate change measurement system. These contents were developed to reflect the global science education system and sustainable development education. Secondly, the results of the program's application showed that middle school climate change education program improved the knowledge and understanding levels of students, awareness, attitude towards, and the will of students to act in accordance to climate change.

Secondary mathematics teachers' recognition of the affective domain and analysis od condition in mathematics teaching (중등 수학 교사들의 정의적 특성에 대한 인식과 수업 실태 분석)

  • According to a number of recent studies, Korean students' affective achievement was at much lower level than cognitive achievement, which indicated the needs for nationwide researches. Although a variety of effort was put into finding ways to improve students' affective achievement, few researches focused on teachers was being underway. Thus, this study was conducted with 327 secondary school mathematics teachers in Gyeonggi-do- by survey method to investigate on how teachers feel affective domain in their teaching practice, how much they it into account at class, and what their wills or plans are to put it into action. According to the results, there existed a distinctive gap between teachers and students in affective domain.

  • In this study was groped a plan for an idea and method of design as the alternative of cure of cocial defect. Ailo, it was referred how an idea and method of design could be used for a cure of social defect and it was considered that an educational form that to actualize the idea and method of design is the basic structure of a cure or improvement of social defect. This educational form actualities exactly the 'media'which the idea and method of design pursue. In the end, an effect of media could probably make social change be practical.

  • The purpose of this study was to understand and define the health-promotion behavior of adolescents in Korea. This study collected data from twelve high school students using group and individual in-depth interviews. Data were analyzed qualitative study with grounded theory method by Strauss and Corbin(1998). As for the study result, the core phenomenon was the Lifestyle without health promotion and the mediation conditions for controlling were Parents' Care for Health, Friends with Health Behavior, and lack of exercise environment, and the action/interection strategy to correspond to this situation was Strengthening the will to practice health promotion, Imitate a friend with a nice body, Learning parental health behavior. This study will serve as basic data in developing health promotion programs for the practice health promoting behaviors of high school students.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate a practical problem-based teaching learning process plan for safety in residential environment to raise safety awareness of middle school students. The plan consisting of 4 lessons has been developed and implemented according to the ADDIE model. Various activity materials (26 student's activity sheets and 8 reading texts, and 8 teacher's reading texts) and visual materials (4 sets of pictures & photos and 8 moving pictures) as well as questionnaire were developed for the 4-session lessons. The plans were implemented by the researcher to 4 classes 121 freshmen of M boy's middle school in Kyeongbuk during December 21st to 29th, 2015. Students were highly enjoyed and satisfied with the whole 4-lessons in the aspects such as the level of participation in the lesson, understanding of the contents, adequacy of materials and activities, and usefulness in own's daily life. Students also reported that they were highly aware to practice the contents learned from the lessons in daily family life at home with one's family and recommended to teach the lessons to other schools, too. It can be concluded that the teaching learning process plan for safety in residential environment would raise safety awareness of middle school students through the Home Economics subject.

  • 15대 국회 후반기, 보건복지위원장으로 선출된 김찬우 의원. 보건의료계 출신으로 위원장에 선출된 만큼, 보건의료계에서 거는 기대도 남다르다. 11대에 정계에 입문해, 의사 정치인으로서의 길을 걸어 온 김찬우 위원장은, 세간의 기대 이전에 의사 출신으로서 국민 특히 취약계층의 건강과 복지를 꼭 실현하겠다는 확고한 신념과 계획을 가지고 있다. 김위원장의 취약계층에 대한 사랑은 젊을 때부터 몸소 실천해 온 일이기도 하다. 정치에 입문하기 훨씬 이전부터, 고향인 영덕에서 개원하여 지역주민을 위한 인술을 펼쳐왔던 것. 그를 국회로 보내기를 강력히 희망했던 고향사람들의 의지는, 그저 고향을 빛내기 위한 일이 아니었음을 짐작케 하는 이력이기도 하다. 그의 첫인상은 우선, 소탈하고 서민적이어서 우리 아버지 혹은 이웃과 같은 편안함을 느낄 수 있게 한다. 그러나 대화를 해 나갈수록 일에 대한 강한 열정과 적극성 또한 대단한 사람이 김 위원장이다. 사랑의 의술, 사랑의 정치, 사랑의 보건복지를 위해 한번 화끈하게 뛰어보겠다는 김찬우 위원장의 보건복지정책 구상을 들어본다.
