  • The study aims to explore whether the Supplier's social medial activities and the consumer's social media activities mediate between the characteristics of purchasing cosmetics and the intention of purchasing. To answer this question, a total of 321 consumers participated in the study, and a self-report type of questionnaires were utilized to collect the data. For the data analysis, descriptive statistical analysis and structural equation modeling(SEM) were applied. The results from the study are as follows. First, the characteristics of purchasing cosmetics did not affect the intention of purchasing cosmetics. Second, both the Supplier's and the consumer's social media activities positively predicted the intention of purchasing, among which the consumer's activities were ascertained to make more influential impact on the intention of purchasing cosmetics. Third, both Supplier's and consumer's social media activities completely mediated between the characteristics of purchasing cosmetics and the intention of purchasing. More discussions are suggested for marketing strategies in the study.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of a low-sodium label on acceptability and sensory attributes of a dipping sauce for fried pork cutlets. Two sauce samples, CON (normal sodium level) and LOW-Na (50% sodium level), were evaluated. Consumers (n=77) rated expectations and actual perception of overall liking, purchase intent, and intensities of saltiness, sweetness, sourness, fruit flavor, and degree of flavor balance without and with a carrier (fried pork cutlet) in blind and informed settings. In the informed test, CON labeled as Low-Na (PLACEBO) was additionally tested to examine the placebo effect of information. The low-sodium labeling significantly increased the expected liking and purchase intent, but decreased the expected saltiness. However, the label did not influence actual liking or purchase intent. A significant decrease in actual saltiness was observed only in Low-Na, not in PLACEBO, indicating the label is influential only when actual perception matched the expectation.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the site characteristics and the customer characteristics of Internet shopping malls on perceived risk and purchase intention. In order to fulfill this objective, we employ the survey methodology to gain data and analyze them using a structural equation model. The results of this study show that both the site characteristics and the customer characteristics of Internet shopping malls did not have a direct effect on purchase intention. Instead, perceived risk has effects on purchase intention. This implies that perceived risk is playing an important role in e-commerce.

  • There have been a lot of previous studies that brand image has a positive impact on purchase as well as the value enhancement of the product with the spread of brand importance and the introduction of brand in the apartment. This study verified that brand image can be factorized and separated into two factors - basic characteristics and additional characteristics. The basic characteristics means essential parts that generally should be provided for housing and the additional characteristics are competitively developed concepts introduced by construction companies for sales promotion. The results of the empirical analysis that verified the effects of the two factors on purchase intention are as follows. The basic characteristics have the positive impact on purchase intention while the additional characteristics are otherwise. This result suggests that it is more important to be faithful to the basics than to be competitively differentiated by the additional characteristics in the apartment market.

  • According to the 2019-2020 social media usage survey conducted by the Seoul e-commerce center, 5 out of 10 consumers have experienced shopping through social media. The cost of traditional advertising media has been reduced and advertising spending on social media has risen by 74%, indicating that social media is becoming a more important marketing element. While the number of users of social media has increased and corporate marketing activities have increased accordingly, research has been conducted in various aspects of marketing such as user motivation for social media, satisfaction, and purchase intention. There was no subdivided study on the differences in the social media usage frequency of consumers in actual purchasing behavior. This study attempted to identify differences in consumer characteristics by cluster in the agrifood purchase situation by grouping them by type according to the frequency of use of social media for consumers who purchase agri-food online. Product involvement, product need, and online purchase channel Consumer characteristics such as demographic distribution, perceived risk, and eating and lifestyle in each cluster were checked for the three agrifood purchase situations including choice, and types for each cluster were presented. To this end, questionnaire data on the frequency of social media use and online agrifood purchase behavior were collected from 245 consumers, and the validity of the measurement variables was secured through factor analysis and reliability analysis. As a result of cluster analysis according to the frequency of social media use, it was divided into three clusters. The first cluster was a group that mainly used open social media, and the second cluster was a group that used both open and closed social media and online shopping malls; The third cluster was a group with low online media usage overall, and the characteristics of each cluster appeared. Through regression analysis, the effect on product involvement, product need, and purchase channel selection when purchasing agri-food online through each of the three clusters was confirmed through regression analysis. As a result of the regression analysis, the characteristic of cluster 1 in the situation of purchasing agri-food online is a male in his 30s living in a rural area who has no reluctance to purchase agri-food on social media or online shopping malls. The characteristics of cluster 2 are mainly consumers who are interested in purchasing health food, and the consumer characteristics are represented. In the case of cluster 3, when purchasing products online, they purchase after considering quality and price a lot, and the consumer characteristics are represented as people who are more confident in purchasing offline than online. Through this study, it is judged that by identifying the differences in consumer characteristics that appear in the agri-food purchase situation according to the frequency of social media use, it can be helpful in strategic judgments in marketing practice on social media customer targeting and customer segmentation.

  • A study is presented that examines the effect of personality on preference and purchase intention of positive and negative novelty design products. Participants evaluated their preference and purchase intention on 18 design products including positive and negative novelty design products. A cute Scream character was created as a positive novelty design and a skeleton Mickey character was used as a negative one. We measured extroversion, neuroticism, and visual product aesthetics as individual traits. The results shows that people, of course, prefer(and want to buy) the positive novelty design product to the negative novelty design product. Only in the case of the negative novelty design product, the more neurotic people is, the more they prefer it. Also, among the people who like the negative novelty design product, introvert ones are likely to purchase it but extroverted ones are not. These findings imply that personality plays an important role in liking and purchasing negative novelty design product.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of digital cultural contents characteristics, perceived values and perceived risks on customer satisfaction and purchase intentions for Chinese consumers, and contribute to the development of digital cultural contents. In addition, a total of 328 valid samples were obtained through an online survey and empirical analysis was conducted. The analysis results of the study are as follows. First, except for creativity, which are characteristics of digital cultural contexts, entertainment and interactivity also have a significantly positive effect on both customer satisfaction and purchase intention. Second, perceived value has a significant positive effect on customer satisfaction and purchase intention, whereas perceived risk does not have this significant effect. Third, customer satisfaction has a partial mediating effect between the three factors(entertainment, interactivity, perceived value) and purchase intention. Therefore, to promote the development of digital cultural contents, we could promote consumers' purchase behavior by improving satisfaction through content entertainment, communication between content producers and service providers, and unity and value that customers actually feel during the consumption process.

  • The mobile game industry has become the one of the fastest growing industries with its astonishing market size. Despite its industrial importance, a few studies empirically considered actual purchasing behavior in mobile games rather than the intention to purchase. Therefore, this paper investigates the key drivers of in-app purchase by analyzing the game-log dataset provided from a mobile game company in Korea. Specifically, the effects of goal-directed, habitual and social-interacted playing behavior are analyzed on in-app purchase. Furthermore, the recursive relationship with playing and purchasing behaviorsis also considered. The result shows that all suggested factors have positive impacts on in-app purchase in the current period. In addition, the effect of previous habitual playing has a positive impact, but the effect of social-interacted playing and in-app purchase in the previous period have negative impacts on in-app purchase of the current period. These findings can improve our understanding of the impact of game playing on in-app purchase in mobile games, and provide meaningful insights for researchers and practitioners.
