A Study on the Effect on the New Teaching Strategy Facilitating Reflective Thinking in the Learning of the Particulate Nature of Matter (물질의 입자성 학습에서 반성적 사고를 촉진시키는 새로운 입자모델 교수전략의 효과 - 초등학교 예비교사를 대상으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to design the new teaching strategy based on the particulate model facilitating the reflective thinking (RE-PM) in the learning of the particulate nature of matter, and to investigate the effect of the new teaching strategy in compare with the traditional teaching strategy (TS-PM) after treating with new teaching strategy on preliminary teachers of elementary school. The problems of traditional teaching strategy are as follows: 1) Most of students didn't think the particulate model connected with practical material. 2) Most of students have a tendency of the rote memory on learning of the traditional particulate model. 3) The ratio of changing the view of continuous matter into the view of particulate nature of matter was very low, after learning the particulate model using of the traditional teaching strategy. The new teaching strategy facilitating the reflective thinking was more effective on the understanding of particulate nature of matter and the driving of motivation than the traditional teaching strategy in the learning of the particulate nature of matter.

The Effectiveness Study of Education Connected to School Library Followed by Free-semester System (자유학기제에 따른 학교도서관 연계 교육의 효과성 연구)

  • This study has been made under the purpose of revealing the real effectiveness of Library Application Education, Life and Career Education and Reading Education in order to seek for the activation of school library and right roles of librarian teachers and subject teachers through connected to school library educations according to the free-semester system. For that, the survey was made to 73 teachers and 112 students, who already experienced connected library educations. As a result, the most frequent educations made by teachers and students was Reading Education, the second one was Library Application Education and the least one was Life and Career Education. In the aspect of effectiveness in teachers and students, the result came out quite meaningful and for teachers, especially the manner in the field of expertism, the satisfaction level of teachers was high in Life and Career Education in format style and creativity in source materials. For the students, the meaningful effectiveness shows in interaction field. Based on the research: first, study about various models of Reading Education which will be applied in connected to school library education according to the free-semester system. Second, additional researches are necessary for the expansional aspect of Library Application Education, Life and Career Education and Reading. Third, continuous studies are essential for the elements which can contribute effectiveness. Fourth, offering many strategical methods are essential to demonstrate creativity for the increase in satisfaction level for teachers.

Impacts and Tasks of Teacher Education Programs Revealed by Preservice Teachers: Students' Intact Beliefs (예비교사들을 통해 알아본 교사양성 프로그램의 효과 및 과제: 학생들의 변하지 않는 신념들)

  • This qualitative study investigated preservice teachers' understandings of the ontology and epistemology underlying constructivist notions of learning through four in-depth interviews. Of the sixteen participants in a larger study, five significantly changed ontological and epistemological beliefs and eleven did not. This study focused on these eleven teachers who have hardly changed their philosophical beliefs throughout the teacher education program. Ten teachers who consistently maintained the scientific realist beliefs were presented as a composite case (Young's case). Among the eleven teachers, there was one outlier who had consistently maintained an idealist and relativist epistemological position from the beginning of the study and was subjected to another case analysis (Ben's case). These cases corroborated the assertion that each individual's deeply entrenched ontological and epistemological beliefs are very hard to change. For researchers, this study offers insights into the reasons that preservice teachers give for non-changes in their thinking about learning to teach. The study also examines preservice teachers' perceived constraints in implementing their ideal pedagogies and the influence of the teacher education program on their pedagogical beliefs changes. The benefits and influences of the M.Ed. program's theoretical coursework and the field experiences on these teachers' learning-to-teach experiences are addressed with rich data. The implications for teacher educators as well as for the instructional practices of preservice teacher education programs are discussed. This research emphasize necessity of the field-based teacher education program and the need of empowering experienced school teachers as teacher educators in teacher preparation and professional development.

서안경계류 발생역학을 이해하기 위한 실험 장치 및 방법 개발

  • Stommel(1948)은 서안경계류의 원인이 베타효과($\beta$-effect)라 일컫는 코리올리 파라미터(f)의 위도 변화 때문인 것을 밝혔다. 서안경계류는 고등학교나 대학 교양에서 중요하게 다뤄지고 있다. 학생들은 보통 이론 수업만으로 서안경계류의 발생 과정, 이에 관련된 코리올리 힘, 베타효과 등을 이해해야 한다. 때문에 서안경계류와 관련된 실험이 있다면 이를 이해하는 데 큰 도움이 될 것이다. 또한 연구에서 검토한 6종의 고등학교 지구과학 2 교과서는 서안경계류를 본문과 더불어 삽화로 설명하고 있다. 그러나 이 중 3종의 교과서 삽화에서는 서안경계류의 발생 원인을 코리올리 힘만으로 지적하고 있다. 따라서 일부 학생은 서안경계류의 원인을 코리올리 힘으로 오해 할 수 있다. 위와 같은 이유로 우리는 서안경계류가 코리올리 힘의 작용과 베타효과에 의해 나타나는 것을 쉽게 확인 할 수 있는 실험 장치와 다양한 실험 방법을 개발하였다. 개발한 실험 장치는 직육면체의 수조와 회전 속도를 조절할 수 있는 테이블로 구성된다. (Fig. 1) 이와 같은 회전수조는 대기와 해양의 움직임을 실험실에서 모사하기 위해 자주 사용되었다(Beardsely 1969, 소선섭 등 1995; 1997). 우리의 수조는 경사진 바닥과 평평한 바닥으로 두종류를 제작하였다. 바닥이 경사진 수조는 베타효과를 구현하기 위한 것이다. 반시계 방향으로 회전하는 테이블은 중위도 어떤 위도에 접하는 가상의 평면이 지구 자전에 의해 회전하는 것을 나타낸다. 그리고 수조 상부에는 회전원판을 물에 접하여 시계방향으로 회전시킨다. 회전원판은 북반구 중위도 해양에 작용하는 바람 응력을 나타낸다. 우리는 테이블의 회전유무와 바닥의 경사유무에 따라 4개 실험을 수행하였다(Table. 1). 각 실험에서 물을 채운 수조를 원판에 올려놓고, 회전원판을 작동시킨 후 20분 동안 그대로 두어 수조안의 미세규모의 운동을 최소화 시킨 후 잉크를 떨어뜨리고 관찰하였다. 그 결과 실험 SB_f1은 베타효과와 코리올리 힘이 존재하여 서쪽 경계에서 좁고 빠른 흐름을 만들고 수조의 중간 부근에서 경계를 벗어나 동쪽으로 향하고 있다. 이 모습은 실제 해양의 서안경계류의 분리 현상과 비슷하다. FB_f1은 코리올리 힘만 존재하여 서쪽 경계에서 좁고 빠른 순환과 경계를 벗어나 동쪽으로 분리되는 흐름이 나타나지 않으며 전반적으로 크게 회전하는 모습을 보인다. SB_f0은 바람의 응력만 존재하는 경우로 잉크가 확산하는 모습을 보이며 나선팔의 모양으로 회전하면서 넓게 퍼져나간다. FB_f0의 모양도 이와 비슷하게 나타난다. 실험 SB_f1과 FB_f1을 비교하여 서안경계류는 코리올리 힘의 위도변화 효과인 베타효과가 있을 때 발생한다는 것을 알 수 있다(Fig. 2). 이 결과는 "단순히 코리올리 효과에 의해 서안경계류가 발생한다"는 생각을 바꾸게 할 것이다. 덧붙여 서안경계류 분리와 수조 바닥의 경사의 관계를 살펴보기 위한 실험을 실시하였다. 경사가 더 급하면 ($\alpha=20^{\circ}$) 서쪽 경계를 벗어나는 지점이 좀 더 북쪽에 나타났다. 현재 서안경계류는 개발한 실험 장치와 방법을 학교 현장에 적용하여 그 교육적 활용 가치를 평가하는 연구를 진행하고 있다.

A Case Study on Competence-based Curriculum in Finnish Secondary Home Economics Curriculum (핀란드 가정과 교육과정의 역량 기반 교육과정 사례 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the main characteristics regarding of implicating competence-based curriculum in Finland's home economics curriculum by analyzing curriculum documents and related literature. The research findings are categorized into four main characteristics. First, home economics in Finland belongs to the 7-9 grades. The key content areas are composed of 'food knowledge & skills and food culture', 'housing & living together' and 'consumer & financial skills' at an integrated approach. Secondly, the subject competences of home economics are not presented; however, the general objectives of transversal competences are defined in Finland's curriculum document. Transversal competences describe the aspects of the objectives that are emphasized in grades 7-9 and strengthens the connectivity with each subject. Thirdly, the objectives of home economics included in the instructions in Finland consist of a content system that links learning skills, content areas, and transversal competences. Both learning skills as a role of subject competences and content areas as objectives support teachers who restructure an curriculum. Fourth, in terms of achieving subject objectives, the assessment criteria in Finland home economics is to evaluate the achievement of good knowledge and skills through actual performance. Based on the research findings, the main features of the revised curriculum in Finland include encouragement of flexibility in education systems and learner's uniqueness in schools. If the implementation of subject competences in home economics is to be strengthened, it is necessary to intergrate the knowledge and competence, require a curriculum system for implements' subject competence, carryout assessment as learning to learn, and facilitate school community and teacher community for deeper co-operation.

A Rule-driven Automatic Learner Grouping System Supporting Various Class Types (다양한 수업 유형을 지원하는 규칙 기반 학습자 자동 그룹핑 시스템)

  • Group-based learning is known to be an effective means to improve scholastic achievement in online learning. Therefore, there are some previous researches for the group-based learning. A lot of previous researches define factors for grouping from the characteristics of classes, teacher's decision and students' preferences and then generate a group based on the defined factors. However, many algorithms proposed by previous researches depend on a specific class and is not a general approach since there exist several differences in terms of the need of courses, learners, and teachers. Moreover it is hard to find a automatic system for group generation. This paper proposes a grouping system which automatically generate a learner group according to characteristics of various classes. the proposed system automatically generates a learner group by using basic information for a class or additional factors inputted from a user. The proposed system defines a set of rules for learner grouping which enables automatic selection of a learner grouping algorithm tailored to the characteristics of a given class. This rule based approach allows the proposed system to accommodate various learner grouping algorithms for a later use. Also we show the usability of our system by serviceability evaluation.

Preservice Elementary School Teachers' Self-Images of Science Teaching and Factors Influencing Their Formation (초등 예비교사들의 과학 교수에 대한 자기 이미지와 이미지 형성에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • In this study, we investigated the preservice elementary school teachers' self-images of science teaching and the factors influencing their formation by using Draw-A-Science-Teacher-Test Checklist (DASTT-C). One-hundred eighty-two sophomores and 183 seniors were selected from the departments of science and non-science education in three national universities of education. DASTT-C was administered to the sophomores at the beginning of the Spring Semester, and to the seniors at the beginning of the Fall Semester. Analyses of the results revealed that the self-images of science teaching of the seniors were more student-centered than those of the sophomores in the department of science education. However, there was no significant difference between the DASTT-C scores of the sophomores and the seniors in the department of non-science education. Many sophomores answered that the main factors affecting their self-images of science teaching were teaching-learning experiences in elementary, middle and high schools. However, many seniors cited the content and teaching methods in science education courses as well as direct or indirect teaching-learning experiences in teaching practices regardless of the departments. Educational implications of these findings are discussed.

Mathematics Education for Humanistic Imagination and Character Education (인문학적 상상력과 인성 함양을 위한 수학교육)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the elementary mathematics education program for the cultivation of humanistic imagination and characters through the link between mathematics and literature to find out its effectiveness. This study has verified the effectiveness of mathematics academic achievement, humanistic imagination and characters with the program development and preliminary program and application of this program for two years. After conducting classes on proportional expression and proportional distribution for 79 sixth-grade elementary school students (39 in the experimental class and 40 in the comparative class) in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do under this program, the researcher analyzed how the application of the program affects students' perception using pre- and post-examinations on mathematics academic achievement, humanistic imagination, and characters, including interviews with students, and analysis of outputs of the students. Studies have shown that the application of the elementary mathematics education program to foster humanities imagination and characters did not make any significant difference in mathematics academic achievement, and there were statistically significant differences in the subcategories of "reflection on life", "positive self-consciousness" and "humanistic imagination" categories, and there were no statistically significant differences in the "purpose of life" and "human relations" categories. However, the responses from the students' interviews showed that their perspectives of humans and the world has become wider and deeper. It also did not produce significant results for characters. As suggestions, the ministry should present the need to develop and distribute concerning materials for teachers, secure time for creative experience activities for convergence subjects, and operate practical and long-term training programs for teachers.

ACLS Simulation Examination between Korean and American Paramedic students (한국과 미국 응급구조 학생간에 전문심장구조술 시뮬레이션 시험)

  • 서론(Introduction) : 의학 시뮬레이션(medical simulation)은 교육생 학습과정에서 내재된 위험이 환자에게 가해짐 없이 교육생이 실제적인 환자 상황을 경험할 수 있게 하고 여러 다양한 임상내용이 포함한 상황에 적용될 수 있다. 시뮬레이션 기술의 사용은 의학교육(medical education), 인증서(certification), 면허교부(Licensure)와 의료의 질 형성에 큰 잠재력을 가지고 있다. 복강경 수술, 내시경검사, 전문심장구조술, 응급기도관리와 외상소생을 포함한 다양한 임상시술의 수행에서 시뮬레이션이 교육생의 술기를 달성하고, 측정하고, 유지하는 유효성을 증명하였다 컴퓨터로 조절되는 시뮬레이터는 맥박, 혈압, 호흡, 대화가 가능하고, 중증질환 또는 외상환자의 치료에 필요한 같은 인명구조 시술을 수행할 수 있다. 의학 시뮬레이션은 의사, 간호사, 응급구조사와 응급 진료를 필요로 하는 환자를 치료하는 사람에게 필요하다. 최신 전문심장구조술 과정수업은 전통적인 강의와 제한된 팀 상호작용이 포함된 이틀 과정이다. 우리는 비 영어권 국제 응급구조학생의 전문심장구조술 술기능력을 알아보고, 그것을 미국 응급구조학생과 비교하고자 한다. 목적(Objective) : 이 연구의 목적은 다양한 전문심장구조술 증례 시나리오를 가진 의학 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 미국과 한국의 응급구조 학생의 능력을 비교하는 것이다. 시행 장소(Site Location) : 이 연구는 한국 제주도에 위치한 제주한라대학 스토니브룩 응급의료교육원에서 진행되었다. 학생들의 평가는 스토니브룩에 위치한 스토니브룩 대학 의료원의 한 명의 평가자(Dr. lee)에 의해 수행되었다. 방법(Methods) : 15명의 한국 응급구조학생들은 세 팀으로 무작위로 선정하였다. 5명이 한 팀이 되어 같은 증례의 시나리오를 받았다. 세 가지 시나리오는 : 첫째, 천식지속상태(Status asthmaticus), 둘째, 긴장기흉을 동반한 만성폐쇄성폐질환(COPD with tension penumothorax) 그리고 마지막으로 메가코드(megacode)를 가진 심정지 이다. 세 팀을 각각 그리고 기본인명구조술(BLS)과 전문심장구조술(ACLS)과정을 마친 미국 응급구조학생들과 비교하였다. 15명의 미국 응급구조학생들 또한 세 팀으로 무작위로 선정하였다. 이 응급구조 학생들은 플러싱병원 의료원 소속으로 그곳에서 이 연구에 참여할 뿐만 아니라 지속적인 의학교육(CME)이수를 받았다. 이들에게도 같은 세 가지 증례의 시나리오가 주어졌고 Dr lee는 총 여섯 팀을 평가하였다(한국 세 팀과 미국 세팀). 결과(Results) : 양 국가의 모든 15명의 학생이 의학시뮬레이터를 사용하여 전문심장구조술 메가코드시험을 포함한 시험에 모두 통과하였다. 비록 학생들을 무작위로 세 팀으로 나누었지만 한 팀이 이 모든 세 증례에서 다른 팀보다 뛰어났다. 제주한라대학 2번 팀은 더 나은 기도관리, 리듬인식과 임상술기를 가진 모든 중요한 활동을 얻기에서 우수했다. 그들은 핵심요구사항을 90% 이상 충족시겼다. 한국의 2번팀(G2K)은 메가코드에서 기도개방, 호흡평가, 순환징후 그리고 흉부압박수와 같은 신체검진 술기에서도 탁월했다. 게다가 다른 팀과 비교 시 리듬인식, 약물지식과 임상술기에서도 높은 점수를 받았으며 2번팀(G2K)이 6팀 중에 가장 뛰어나게 역활수행을 하였다. 결론(Conclusion) : 이 비교 연구에서 한국학생과 미국학생간에 전문심장구조술 메가코드 시험의 통과율에는 차이가 없었다. 그러나 미국학생은 세 팀 사이에 더 적은 변이로 더 일괄된 점수를 받았다. 한국학생들도 모든 세 가지 증례를 통과하였지만 이 세 팀은 미국학생 팀보다 점수에서 더 큰 변이를 보였다.

  • The main purpose of this study is to reveal the educational value of the Chinese drama and present a concrete and feasible Chinese speaking teaching-learning programme targeted at intermediate level Chinese learners through storytelling and role-play. There is some advice for Chinese speaking teaching-learning by using Chinese dramas. Firstly, applying various techniques actively such as storytelling and role play, not only could it help to correct Chinese speaking pronunciation, but it could also help students to make up and express their ideas as free as possible. Secondly, it's necessary to accord with the teaching objectives of Chinese speaking, students' actual level and requirements to select Chinese dramas as Chinese speaking teaching-learning materials. Thirdly, it's noteworthy that teachers should select Chinese dramas with various genres or theme according to social development to promote the fun of class and maximize the educational value of Chinese dramas as teaching-learning materials.
