  • This study was conducted to investigate the factors affecting stress before clinical practice among nursing students. The subjects of the study were surveyed on third-grade students who were about to undergo their first clinical practice. The data collection period was from December 22, 2023 to January 10, 2024, with a total of 191 nursing students. The instruments used for this study were Perceived stress scale(Pss), Self-leadership, and Global Interpersonal Communication Competency(GICC) scale. The data were analyzed by t-tests, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS/WIN 21.0. The results of the study showed a negative correlation with self-leadership(r=-.29, p=<.001) and interpersonal communication competence(r=-.40, p=<.001). In the stepwise multiple regression analysis, it was found that the stress levels of nursing students before clinical practice were influenced by factors such as gender, satisfaction with the department, and interpersonal communication competence. These variables explained 33.7% of the variance in pre-clinical stress. Based on the findings of this study, it is recommended to develop educational interventions that can help reduce stress before clinical practice among nursing students.

  • This study examined effects of communication competence, nursing professionalism and emotional labor on clinical practice stress among nursing students. Data were collected through self reported structured questionnaire from 198 nursing students using convenient sampling methods from September 19, 2016 to October 10, 2016. Stepwise regression showed that emotional labor had the greatest effect on clinical practice stress(${\beta}=0.356$, p<.001), followed by nursing professionalism and communication competence. These variables together explained 25.4% of the clinical practice stress in nursing students(F=23.34, p<.001). In conclusion, strategies for reducing emotional labor and for improving nursing students' nursing professionalism and communication competence should be developed to reduce clinical practice stress of nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of internal-external control, difficulties in emotion regulation, and clinical practice stress among college nursing students. The study was conducted, based on a sample of 220 students at one college and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression analysis. As a result of correlation analysis, there were significant positive correlation in difficulty of emotion regulation score and clinical practice stress score according to external control score. Factors affecting on clinical practice stress were locus of control, difficulties in emotion regulation, college satisfaction, grade, and religion having explanation rate of 17%. Therefore, to decrease clinical stress among nursing students, Nursing students should be considered the emotion regulation with external control disposition. The results can contribute as a basic data in developing education strategies and clinical adjustment programs for regulating clinical stress with emotion management and adaptation on clinical environment.

  • This study was developed to provide the basis for efficient bedside training by discovering and analyzing ways to reduce stress when students are in clinical practice. The present study was conducted using a 3-part questionnaire format and was based on 253 participants who were students completing clinical practice. The results showed that environmental factors were the most stressful for students in the department of radiology. According to the questionnaire, the highest factor relating to stress was 'standing for long durations' with a value of $3.27{\pm}1.04$, and values were respectively high in the sections on' disregard when students have a lack of knowledge' and 'repetition in simple tasks'. Students who had a good training atmosphere, good relationships with clinical radiological technologists and other students, and students who had high self-esteem showed low stress levels. The effect on BEPSI scale increased as interpersonal relationships and performance declined. Therefore, training institutions should consider relaxation areas for students, radiological technologists should not ignore the reality that students do not have substantial knowledge in clinical practice and comparisons made between students should not exist. In addition, there is the need to make an effort to reduce stress experienced by students in clinical practice through the use of positive communication and encouragement by assigning various training opportunities, providing areas to sit and initiating relaxation periods for students to reduce fatigue, as well as challenging students rather than restricting them to the simple and repetitive routines they encounter in clinical practice.

  • This study aims to understand the effects of nursing college students' anxiety about clinical practice and stress from it during the practice on their nursing professionalism during COVID-19 and be used as baseline data to promote this professionalism. The target is 187 juniors and seniors in nursing college located in Chungnam, Chungbuk, and Gyeongbuk with experience in the clinical practice, and the survey was conducted from September to November 2021. The data was analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using SPSS 22.0. Nursing professionalism was significantly correlated with clinical practice stress(r=-.151, p=.039). In terms of the factors that influenced the nursing professionalism, the coefficient of determination of satisfaction in major was 5.2%(β=-.24, p=.001), and that of stress from the clinical practice was 3.0%(β=-.17, p=.015), which explains a total of 8.2%. Major satisfaction was the most influential factor predicting greater nursing professionalism. The results of this study demonstrate the necessity to increase nursing students' satisfaction in major and reduce their stress from clinical practice in order to improve the nursing professionalism during COVID-19.

  • This study will be used as basic data to hold clinical training effective by researching and analyzing frequency, satisfaction and stress for the clinical practice of dental hygiene course students. The survey was undergone from Feb. 1, 2014 to Mar. 31 for 219 dental hygiene course juniors who had experienced clinical training in 3 year colleges located in Daejeon and Chungcheong Province. From the study, general and university hospital holds the highest satisfaction in clinical practice and dental offices in acquiring skills. Also, a significant difference is shown between the frequency and satisfaction according to clinical training sheets. The highest degree of stress is shown in dental offices for 'toothbrushing training and dental health education' and in general and university hospital for 'patient counselling'. Therefore, consideration should be made to establish the direction of education, standard criteria and evaluation method for student clinical training to raise its effectiveness.

  • The aim of this study was to identify the factors related to clinical practice stress in nursing college students. The participants comprised 160 students in a nursing college. Data collection was conducted from December 1, 2019 to December 15, 2019. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and a multiple regression analysis. The average score for clinical practice stress was 3.19 out of a maximum of 5. clinical practice stress had a statistically significant relationship with self-esteem(r=.22, p=.005), nursing professionalism(r=-.26, p=.001) and cognitive emotion control strategy(r=.38, p<.001). The factors affecting clinical practice stress were maladaptive cognitive emotion control strategy(β=.46, p<.001), nursing professionalism(β=-.20, <.001), grade(β=.20, p=.002), motivation for nursing choice(β=-.15, p=.019); the explanatory power of the model was 35.5%. Therefore, in order to reduce the stress on clinical practice, it is necessary to develop a program that can lower the maladaptive cognitive emotion control strategy along with improving the nursing professionalism in stress situations.
