A Study on the Maneuverabilities and Full-Scale Measurement for Training Ship HANBADA (실습선 한바다호의 조종성능과 실선 계측에 관한 연구)

  • For navigation safety, navigators have to be familiar with maneuverabilities. When a vessel encounters a danger of collisions and stranding, maneuverability is essential for the safety of ship. It is composed of turning, course change, speed change, etc. In the latter part, maneuverabilities and motion of Training Ship HANBADA are provided by full-scale measurement in the $10^{\circ}/10^{\circ}$ Zig-Zag Test, $20^{\circ}/20^{\circ}$ Zig-Zag Test and Turning Circle Test(Port and Starboard). It aims to provide information on maneuverabilities and motion of Training Ship HANBADA so that the navigators can take proper action to avoid.

Computerized Measurement System of Ship Speed and Maneuvering Performance in Sea Trial (속도 및 조종 실선시운전 계측, 해석 시스템 개발)

  • It is expected that ISO issue a standard method for sea trial and the correction of data taken during speed trial. One of the major reason for this effort(or trend) is to get reliable and accurate sea trial measurement. With the same philosophy, SHI(Samsung Heavy Industries) developed a nautical signal integrated unit in 1996. Two years after this, SHI developed a software that enable the user to analyze the sea trial measurement on-board. After a series of stationary and performance tests, KR has issued a certificate for international application of the software. We have been utilizing this program for the measurement and analysis of sea trial of more than 70 ships built in SHI shipyard. However, one critical defect of the software has been that it can be applied only for single shaft vessels. In this short paper, we would like to introduce a new version of the software which can be used for both single and multi thruster vessels. This paper deals with the introduction, test method and some of the test result.

A Study on the Hydrodynamic Performance of High-Speed Vessel with Trim Tab Using Full-Scale CFD Simulation (실선 스케일 CFD 해석 기반 트림 탭이 부착된 고속선의 유체동역학적 성능 분석)

  • In this study, trim tabs were attached to end of stern hull of a small high-speed vessel of length approximately 10 m and Froude number 1.0 to improve resistance performance and passenger comfort. Before computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations to assess the performance according to various geometries of the trim tab, the scale effect had been found through a previous study, so full-scale simulations were performed. The trim tab chord length was set to 0.5 %, 1.0 % and 1.5 % of LPP, and its angle to base line was varied in intervals of 5°. It decreased trim by stern and flotation: the greater the angle and length, the greater was the effect. Then it had pressure resistance decreased and shear resistance increased, and reduction ratio of total resistance varied accordingly. The results of this study indicated that the resistance performance was improved about 27 % at optimal running attitude that was the trim by stern about 1.5°.

A Study on the Evaluation of Cargo Securing Safety for Car ferry Ships Using Wave Height Information (해상 파고 정보를 활용한 카페리 선박의 고박안전성 평가에 관한 연구)

  • Cargo securing safety, which is one factor for the safe operation of car ferry ships, has been applied since 2015 and evaluated by comparing the hull motion and securing load capacity generated by waves. To ensure the safe operation of the 3700 ton class car ferry, it is important to analyze the hull acceleration motion based on the sea wave information of the navigation area to determine the cargo securing load that can prevent the movement of cargo. In this study, the meteorological information of three wave buoys installed in Busan and Jeju area was analyzed for the past 5 years. In addition, the hull acceleration was measured in actual sea conditions and compared to that of numerical simulations. Under the condition of a significant wave height of 2.5 m from Feb to Mar, except typhoon seasons, the lateral acceleration was observed to be 1.5 m/s2 in real ship measuring and 1.8 m/s2 in numerical calculation. It was analyzed to be less than 40% under general weather conditions compared to the high wave warning using an approximate formula for estimating the hull motion by wave height. The cargo securing safety proposed in this study will be widely used based on the actual measuring acceleration with the sea wave height.

  • 본 고에서는 3차원 전선구조해석에 사용하는 직접구조해석기법 및 준직접구조해석기법에 대하여 설명하고 실선계산을 통하여 두 기법의 차이를 비교하였다. 직접구조해석은 준직접구조해석에 비하여 방대한 시간 및 노력이 요구되기 때문에 전선구조해석의 목적으로 사용하기에는 추천할 기법은 아니나 준직접구조해석의 검증, 피로해석 및 신로도 해석 등 응력의 확률 기준이 필요한 경우에는 필수적으로 수행해야 할 것이다.
