Nanocomposites of polyurethane were prepared from inorganic nano particles, $Na^+-montmorillonite$ (MMT), silica, $CaCO_3$, and surface modified MMT and their properties were investigated. It was shown that the molecular weight and polydispenity of nanocomposites of polyurethane were 20000 to 28000 and 1.0 to 2.0, respectively. d-Spacing for nanocomposites of MMT were increased than that of pure MMT. Initial degradation temperature of nanocomposites were 250 to $280^{\circ}C$. And also, the range of weight loss for nanocomposites were decreased and the end of thermal degradation was observed at higher temperatures about $50^{\circ}C$. The elongation at break for $CaCO_3$ filled nanocomposites were the highest among the nanocomposites used in this study. studied. It was found that the tensile strength increased with increasing the filler contents while the silica nanocomposite exhibited the lowest increase and the $CaCO_3$ nanocomposite the highest.
Recently, since the advanced nano technology develops unique physical and chemical properties different from those of the conventional materials. Normal concretes mixed with nano - $SiO_2$ have been studied to improve the fire-resistance with high strength and lower heat conductivity. In this pilot study, the nano-particle contents in the specimens (${\Phi}100{\times}200 mm$) were 0, 2, 4, and $6\%$ by weight of cement, and fire-temperatures $200^{\circ}C$, $500^{\circ}C$, and $800^{\circ}C$ were considered. The results show that as the nano-particle contents increases, the weight loss of concrete gradually decreases, and the compressive strength after fire-attack increases effectively.
Since nanoporous silica aerogel was first synthesized in 1931, its potential as an ultra-lightweight superinsulation material has been steadily attracting attention. Silica aerogel is the best thermal insulation material to date. However, the potential applications of this lightweight material have so far been hindered by its inherent fragibility and brittleness arising from its ultra-porous nature. Although the monolithic form of silica aerogel has the best ultra-lightweight superinsulation properties, it cannot be used in this form. Instead it is used in the form of powders, particles, and blankets. However, these forms still have shortcomings. Silica aerogel is most widely applied in the form of a fiber-reinforced aerogel blanket, but this form is likely to generate dust when handled. Although silica aerogel particles have been proven to be non-toxic to humans, dust formation remains a major barrier to the widespread application of silica aerogel blankets. This paper will investigate the unique properties of silica aerogel and determine what fields it can be used in or potentially be used in due to its unique properties. In addition, we will review the important advances in silica aerogel synthesis technology and its commercialization so far, and then consider the problems that exist for its widespread commercialization in the future and how to overcome them.

This paper presents an experimental investigation of a reversible colloidal seismic damper, which is statically loaded, The porous matrix is composed from silica gel (labyrinth or central-cavity architecture), coated by organo-silicones substances, in order to achieve a hydrophobic surface. Water is considered as associated lyophobic liquid. Reversible colloidal damper static test rig and the measuring technique of the static hysteresis are described. Influence of the pare and particle diameters, particle architecture and length of the grafted molecule upon the reversible colloidal damper hysteresis is investigated, for distinctive types and mixtures of porous matrices, Variation of the reversible colloidal damper dissipated energy and efficiency with temperature, pressure, is illustrated.
Silica hydrogel was synthesized by the reaction of liquid sodium silicate with sulfuric acid. The condensation polymerization of the synthesized hydrogel was carried out via an aging process under the acidic or alkaline conditions. Nano porous silica with the pore size below 3 nm and surface area of $715m^2/g$, was obtained by the above processes in acidic ranges(pH : 3~5). The pore size and surface area of the silica varied with pH, and in alkaline ranges(pH : 8~10), those were 21 nm and $300m^2/g$ respectively. The characteristics of the silica varied with the thermal treatment which caused the change of surface area, pore volume and pore diameter.

In this study, nanosized TPA-silicalite-1 was synthesized with a suitable molar composition of TPAOH: $SiO_2$: $H_2O$ for the development of zeolite ceramic membranes to utilize as gas separation. As silica sources, TEOS, LUDOX AS-40 and CAB-O-SIL were used with the starting material of TPAOH. $NaH_2PO_4$, and a variety of acids and bases were used as promoters after TPAOH, $SiO_2$, $H_2O$ gel synthesis. To decrease synthesis time, a two step temperature change method was applied to the synthesis of TPA-silicalite-1 at a low temperature. TPA-silicalite-1 synthesized was analyzed with XRD, SEM, BET and TGA. As a result, TPA-silicalite-1 powders with a particle size of 100 nm and a specific surface area of $416m^2/g$ were obtained as optimum synthesis conditions when the two stage temperature change method was used with $NaH_2PO_4$ as promoter.
The sol-gel method is the simplest method for synthesizing monodispersed silica particles. The purpose of this study is to synthesize uniform, monodisperse spherical silica nanoparticles using tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) as the silica precursor, ethanol, and deionized water in the presence of ammonia as a catalyst. The reaction time and temperature and the concentration of the reactants are controlled to investigate the effect of the reaction parameters on the size of the synthesized particles. The size and morphology of the obtained silica particles are investigated using transmission electron microscopy and particle size analysis. The results show that monodispersed silica particles over a size range of 54-504 nm are successfully synthesized by the sol-gel method without using any additional process. The nanosized silica particles can be synthesized at higher TEOS/$H_2O$ ratios, lower ammonia concentrations, and especially, higher reaction temperatures.

This research scrutinizes the mechanical characteristics of ultra-high strength concrete using oxide graphene nanoplatelet(GO) and hollow glass powder(HGP). The investigation covered various mechanical attributes, including workability, compression strength, tensile strength, water resistance, and the internal microstructure of standard concrete. Our findings reveal that workability experiences a significant improvement with the incorporation of a minimal amount of HGP, and an increase was also observed in tensile strength and water resistance. It was confirmed that cGO(C company GO) and HGP demonstrated commendable dispersion and the pore volume exhibited a reduction of more than 20%. The potential of cGO and HGP to substitute silica fume(SF) was also explored. Consequently, it was found that both workability and mechanical properties were enhanced in the absence of SF when cGO and HGP were used. This finding implies that the utilization of these novel materials could potentially modify conventional methods of concrete manufacturing.

This research is a study on the characteristics of OPC-slag cement using nano-silica solution (NSS) with water-weight substitution method. The new replacement method is a fundamental step to study the behavior of cement with higher NSS replacement rates than previous studies. NSS was replaced by 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50% of the mixing water weight. As a result, the mechanical and microstructural characteristics were improved. This can be summarized in two ways. First, when the NSS is replaced with mixing water, the homogeneous dispersion action of the nano-silica particles is improved. This promotes initial hydration. Second, substitution of NSS with higher density than mixing water reduces w / b. This forms a dense hydration reaction material. The new substitution method did not show any degradation of mechanical and microstructural properties as compared with the results using the powdered nano-silica particles revealed in the previous study. Therefore, it is considered that the method of weight substitution of NSS used in this study can be applied to the formulation of OPC-slag cement.
