  • As the development automated vehicles(AV) actively progresses around the world, the demand for a reasonable and systematic evaluation method for AVs is increasing. Research on scenarios, evaluation procedures, and methods for evaluating AVs conducted in simulations and proving ground(PG) is actively conducted internationally. In contrast, methods and procedures for evaluations on real roads are still in their infancy internationally. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct research on evaluating AVs on real roads in preparation for future use of AVs. This study aims to define the basic direction for evaluating the driving safety of AVs on real roads. To this end, the evaluation direction and process of AVs were presented on the real roads, and qualitative and quantitative evaluation indicators were selected to evaluate driving safety. A total of 38 items were selected based on the Road Traffic Act as qualitative evaluation items for evaluating the driving safety of AVs on real roads.

  • Despite the increasingly stringent automotive emissions regulations, the impact of vehicle emissions on air pollution remains large. In addition, since the issue of emission of more exhaust gas than the exhaust gas measured in the test room when the vehicle passing the exhaust gas regulation standard is run on the actual road, many countries studied and introduced gas regulations about Real Driving Emission using Portable Emission Measurement System. At present, Korea regulations restrict the number of NOx and PN in diesel vehicles. In the case of gasoline vehicles, there is no regulation on emission gas, but there is a problem of continuing automobile exhaust gas problems and a large amount of gasoline GDI vehicle's PN emission. So research and interest are increasing due to this problem. In this study, characteristics of exhaust gas depending on changes of ambient temperature were analyzed among various factors affecting exhaust gas measurement of gasoline vehicles. As a result, at the low temperature test, the lower the ambient temperature, the more the exhaust gas was emitted. At ordinary temperature test, no specific tendency was observed due to changes of ambient temperature.

  • For testing a two-wheeled vehicle's per-charge range, this study conducted road and chassis dynamometer driving tests. Three typical road routes within Daejeon Metropolitan City were selected for the road-driving test. In the case of CVS-40 mode driving tests using a chassis dynamometer, various road-loading conditions were set. In this study, two-wheeled electric vehicles' per charge range on the road was confirmed through testing, and the range and energy consumption efficiency depending on various chassis dynamometer road load settings were measured. Then, the results of the actual road driving tests were compared with those of the chassis dynamometer driving tests, and road load settings that yielded per-charge range testing results similar to those under actual road driving conditions in the chassis dynamometer experiments were studied.

  • With the foot-and-mouth disease problems emerging as a serious social issue, this study set out to analyze the problems with the current setting of preventive zones against epidemics and find ways to minimize damage through preventive measures. For those purposes, the study analyzed the outbreaks of the foot-and-mouth disease and assumed that the disease would be transmitted via vehicles along the roads based on the network map of national roads and boundaries among administrative districts to conduct network analysis. The analysis results were then used to estimate spread time, whose results were then categorized according to lineal road distance and actual road distance. Then lineal moving speed and actual moving speed on the road were obtained according to the national roads and administrative districts to analyze the problems with the current method of setting preventive zones against the foot-and-mouth disease. As for spread speed around the areas where the foot-and-mouth disease broke out, the average lineal spread speed was 53.9km/day, and the average spread speed on the road was 71.1km/day, which indicates there are problems with the current method of setting preventive zones against epidemics.

  • This paper presents an analysis on driving safety in lane change situation based on road driving data. Autonomous driving is a global trend in vehicle industry. LKAS technologies are already applied in commercial vehicle and researches about lane change maneuver have been actively studied. In autonomous vehicle, not only safety control issue but also imitating human driving maneuver is important. Driving data analysis in lane change situation has been usually dealt with ego vehicle information such as longitudinal acceleration, yaw rate, and steering angle. For this reason, developing safety index according to surrounding vehicle information based on human driving data is needed. In this research, driving data is collected from perception module using LIDAR, radar and RT-GPS sensors. By analyzing human driving pattern in lane change maneuver, safety index that considers both ego vehicle and surrounding vehicle state by using relative velocity and longitudinal clearance has been designed.

  • An HD map is essential in the automated driving of level 4 and above to generate the vehicle's global path since it contains road information and each road's lane information. Therefore, all the road elements in the HD map must be correctly defined to construct the correct road network necessary to generate the global path. But unfortunately, it is not difficult to find various errors even in the most recent HD maps. Hence, a preprocessing algorithm has been developed to detect and correct errors in the HD map. This error detection and correction result in constructing the correct road network for use in global path planning. Furthermore, the algorithm was tested on real roads' HD maps, demonstrating its validity.
