  • Wabi-Sabi is the most conspicuous and characteristic feature of what we think of as traditional Japanese beauty. It occupies roughly the same position in the japanese pantheon of aesthetic values as do the Greek ideals of beauty and perfection in the West. All things air impermanent. All things are imperfect. all things are incomplete. it offers an aesthetic ideal that uses the uncompromising touch of mortality to focus the mind on the exquisite transient beauty to be found in aoo things impermanent. Wabi-Sabi is a beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete. It is a beauty of things modest and humble. It is a beauty of things unconventional. Wabi-Sabi is the art of everyday life. These may be the methods for the relationship establishment between human and space on the ground of Wabi-Sabl concepts which is commonly found no in contemporary interior space in japan.

공동주택 외부디자인 선호경향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Exterior Design Preference of Apartment)

  • The purpose of this study is to provide practical guide for the Preference of exterior design in Apartment. The data is collected through questionnaire survey including observations and interviews. The sample consists of 229. The data is analyzed by using SPSS-PC. The major findings are as follows. (1) Most of residents recognize the importance of exterior design of apartments. (2) Most of residents are satisfied with the exterior design such as building form, color, and material and not satisfies with environment of apartments. (3) The most preferred color of Apartment is white as primary color and green as secondary color. (4) The most preferred color pattern is vertical type as facade, horizontal type as the back wall, super graphic and geometrical type as the side wall. (5) The preferred exterior images are modern, simple, and unique style.

국제학술논문에 나타난 '문화' 에 관한 연구의 최근 경향 분석 - 환경디자인 분야를 중심으로 - (Current Trend of Studies on 'Culture' in the field of Environmental Design)

  • This study began to classify the studies on 'culture' in the field of environmental design overall. The classifying process adopted not the approach to preselect the criteria but the phenomenological inductive approach and content analysis method focusing on environmental design in order to understand which place the environmental design had taken. As a result, following aspects were reviewed: what is the area in which the studies on culture is made under the environmental design; what is the trend of using the word 'culture' in terms of logical connection; what is the level of approach to culture from the viewpoint of search, correspondence or application stage. On the whole, followings were drawn as conclusions. First, the interest of the studies on culture has been increased with time especially in the field of interior design. Second, the word 'culture' has become to be used a lot as 'cultural', and was used together with traditional, enterprise and material. Lastly, culture was studied at a starting point by and large. Although the papers, the objects of this study, are confined to five kinds of journals, the analysis of them is helpful to preestimate the trend of studies on culture because they have propensity to lead the international professional academic world.

  • Popular in the 1990s, Western Minimalism declined in popularity in the end of the century while the Oriental Mysticism and the Oriental Minimalism called “Zen Style” appeared. Fusion and Oriental Minimalism, both of which pursue traditional beauty and the essence of functionality and beauty, are combined with Japanese elements. As Oriental Minimalism is oriented towards Japan and China, we should consider the Japanese modernization process. Japan internationalized their own traditional elements after modernization. On the other hand, we only focus on tradition in a view of modernity, Japan developed their own culture whereas we followed the Western influences and trends after our culture and social structure were destroyed because of the civil war. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to find out the possibility of culture variety in interior design from the Japanese samples which modernized their culture in various sights. In other words, I researched and analyzed the expressive trends in Japanese Contemporary interior design, architecture and similarity and difference between Korea and Japan.

  • This research is to provide basic information for future development of an effective way for design office furniture. The purpose of this study is to provide foundation data that enable to design various office furniture. This article investigates what are the basic elements of office furniture and how various type of office furniture elements represent in many catalogues, articles. It was to understand what parts of office furniture elements influence when design the office furniture. Based on the research, conclusion was made as following: Through the 11 brands, it is found that rectangular-closed desk and tall closest is dominant in domestic brand whereas both open and closed desks are used in overseas brand and the closet design is changed based on the desk type.

  • Design has been proceeding to 21 century undertaking the many-sided and complicated characteristics of the modern industrialized society much more heavily comparing to past.   • [ $K\ddot{o}ln$ ] IMM (International Mobel Messe Koln) is traditionally one of the advanced Exhibitions with International Expo of Furniture in Milan. IMM is not only the furniture exhibition but also well known international event that shows novel idea and the newest trend of interior design field. This event displays from the traditional style reaches to the newest trend, and also presents the world various Interior design spectrum with the forecast of interior design industry. This study analyze out the trend of the nm in year 2004, 2005 and 2006. It analyzed each year's design with form, material, color and general feature. Thus, it suggests demanding and persistent design of modern society, This chart shows the characteristics of the furniture design from 2004 to 2006 Result of the study shows that the trend of the furniture design would be process with the relationship of simple design, multi-cultural character, and practical paradigm.

  • Contemporary culture of consumption has been transferred from physical satisfaction in the past to the "pleasure" culture of consumption that satisfies emotional needs, generating a new design category - emotional design. The current study analyzes various environmental design techniques of the theme parks, which recognized early the importance of the "pleasure" culture of consumption and used the techniques for sales and as profit-making tools. This study also examines a trend of emotional design in environmental design techniques of the theme park and proves that the design techniques can be applied to a variety of interior design areas, as well as commercial facilities.mmercial facilities.

  • Focusing on the cases applied to korean brand-name apartments In 1960s, economical growth and introduction of western-type cultures led to a boom of apartment construction. After internationalization'in 1980s through Olympic games in 1988, korean culture has attracted attention and individual life quality has been improved. Since 1990s, changes in personal life style has affected the housing culture and the construction companies started moving from quantitative supply to developing their own differential characteristics. Differentiation scheme triggered by construction companies since mid-1990s mainly focused on various ideas for space deployment. Space plans include such things as a private ground, a kitchen in the south, etc. while interior plans include to provide selection of the korean traditional style, natural or casual one. 'korean traditional style' apartment is one of such theme of the brand-named apartment. Interests on 'Tradition' can be broken down into a social trend and media trend. Firstly, the former includes the designation of Bukchon as a reserving area, one of the governmental 'Hanok Survival Program', and traditional building promotion scheme on the basis of construction policy plans. Secondly, the latter covers the interests which attract through the media showing oriental cosmetics, korean culture export via Hallyu, popularity of korean dramas, etc. Thus, it seems worth studying on the apartments with traditional factors. And also, this study aims to setup the concept and trends of korean traditional style apartments through the interior expression on the korean-factor space developed by brand-name apartments so that it could correct such false knowledge out of misunderstood concept of traditional space which results from simple decoration or structure type not accompanying Korean emotion or spirit rendered by some misleading media.
