  • Ships of 500 gross tonnage and upwards constructed an or after 1 July 2002 shall have an automatic tracking aids according to SOLAS V/19 but existing ships less than 10,000 gross tonnage constructed before 1 July 2002 have potential collision risks due to the lack of automatic plotting devices like as an ATA. This paper aims to provide a homemade ATA by developing the tracking algorithm for ATA and to prevent collision incidents by distributing ATA system to coasters.

  • In order to improve the accessibility to the island through marine leisure ships, it is necessary to evaluate objective business feasibility of the ship's operation. In this study, costs and income were estimated based on the operating expenses and freight standards of similar marine leisure ships in operation, and based on this, the feasibility of the project was empirically analyzed through B/C analysis, NPV, and IRR. In addition, sensitivity analysis was performed for various variables to understand the requirements for securing minimum economic feasibility. As a result of the study, in case of new building ship, the B/C ratio was estimated to be 1.042, NPV was estimated to be KRW 1.93 billion, and IRR was estimated to be 2.1% which means that profitability was secured.

  • SEEMP (Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan) has entered into force since 2013 for the reduction of GHG emission of operating ships. SEEMP guidelines include the hardware modification or installation of energy-saving device on ship. It also includes software based energy-saving technology such as optimum routing, speed optimization, etc. Hardware based technologies are not easy to apply to ongoing vessel due to the operational restriction. Therefore, IT based energy-saving technology was applied and its energy efficiency was evaluated using before and after energy-saving system applied voyage data. SEEMP advises a voluntary participation of EEOI (Ship Energy Efficiency Operation Indicator) use as an indicator of ship energy efficiency operation, and those results were also shown to evaluate the improvement efficiency of energy-saving system.

  • 국제해양법이 제정된 이래 국내외의 정세변화에 따른 수산업의 침체에 대처해 나가기 위해서는 연안어장의 해양환경을 쾌적하게 조성하고 여기에서 조업하는 조업어선들의 구조와 운용설비 개선에 대한 대책이 마련되어야 한다. 특히 어선어업에 있어서는 어선에서 발생하는 소음은 선박에 종사하는 어업인과 어군에 직접적인 영향을 미치게 되므로 이들 영향을 최소화하기 위한 연구가 성실히 수행되어야 할 것이다. 본 연구는 소형어선의 항주 중의 수중소음의 어류에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위한 기초자료를 얻고자 2000년 3월 2일∼4월 10일 여수연안에서 동일한 크기의 신조 소형 연안복합어선(GT 6.66)의 항주중인 선박의 수중소음을 측정, 분석한 결과이다.   • Most of the vibration and noise generating in small boats come from shipboard machinery such as main engine, generator and auxiliary machinery etc. In order to build up the comfortable environment for the crew and to reduce the ambient noise, and provide basic materials for reasoning selection application, the design under allowable vibration & noise conditions and the examination of vibration condition of the new ships, this paper researches the frequency spectrum and order analysis of vibration and noise. The obtained results are summarized as follows : Through comparing the small boat internal noise with the regulation of IMO and DNV, it revealed that the noise level of main engine room accords with the standard, and the noise of other places are beyond the values. In this paper, two boats are analyzed, which are same type, same size and power, but the main engines noise of them is different. In order to search the noise source, the noise of main engine room and relative parts are measured. The third order of measured points is dominant in frequency domain by the order analysis.

  • This paper presents the feasibility study on $CO_2$ carrier for carbon dioxide marine geological storage. Conceptual design was carried out to acquire $CO_2$ carriers by retrofitting existing vessels and new ship-building. Based on conceptual design, the acquisition cost of $CO_2$ carriers was estimated. Finally, necessary expense and number of ships were estimated based on operational plans for the assumed scenario.

  • This thesis tries to evaluate the economic benefit of space chartering in comparison with time chartering with respect to mega container ships. For this it reviews the method of obtaining ship's carrying capacity such as time chartering and space chartering. Based on this, it tries to make comparison between the time chartering and space chartering on economic base. Finally, it suggest the economic benefit of space chartering with direction for further study.

  • 우리나라 조선산업은 생산성 향상을 통한 건조척수의 증가를 통하여 일본과 더불어 세계 $1^{\sim}2$위의 시장 점유율을 기록하는 등 세계 최고의 수준이다. 그러나 국내 중소형 조선소나 조선기자재업체의 경우에는 기술 인력의 부족으로 인하여 독자적인 기술의 확보와 기술개발 여건이 마련되어 있지 않은 상황이다. 특히, 구명정(Life boat)은 선박의 비상 탈출 장비로써 법적으로 의무 설치가 강제화 되어 있는 선박 안전에 있어 필수적인 장비로서 수요도 꾸준히 증가하고 있으나, 국내의 구명정 제작업체로는 현대라이프보트가 유일하며 2004년 기준 국내 신조선박에 탑재되는 수량의 25%, 세계시장의 4% 만을 공급하고 있다. 이외의 수량은 $7^{\sim}8$ 개의 유럽 등 외국업체와 중국업체들이 제작, 공급하는 실정이다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 구명정의 신선형 개발과 선형시험 통한 성능 검증 및 품질 향상과 풍수절감을 위한 생산성 향상 방안, 기존 몰드 개선 방안 연구 등을 수행하고 시제선을 건조하여 저가의 외국 구명정에 대응하여 국내 구명정 기술 경쟁력을 향상시킬 수 있는 전폐형 구명정의 국산화를 달성하였다.

  • This thesis deals with the legal principles, case law decisions and suggestions for the Sale & Purchase of ships concerning enactment proposal of maritime law. Recently, the shipbuilding market has shown a major shift towards East Asia, particularly Korea, Japan and China. The major Korean shipyards in particular have engaged in substantial investment programmes both to expand their overall shipbuilding capacity and to enter new markets, such as for liquefied natural gas(LNG) carriers. The Korean Government has recently taken interest in the sale & purchase of used ships, utilizing the Internet and has made plans for building the Shipping Exchange in korea. So this thesis examines the situation of the world's shipping industry and the different kinds of the Sale & Purchase of ships. deals with the legal principles, and case law decisions. describes Forms of Shipbuilding Contracts and Memorandums of Agreement of second-hand ships. And makes suggestions for 1) the Shipbuilding Contracts of the shipowner's Association of Korea and 2) The Korean Shipbrokers' Association's Memorandum of Agreement for Ship Sale & Purchase in the korean shipping industry. Having reached the end of this thesis. the writer suggests to make terms of sale of ships in the korean civil code and commercial code, Additionally. the writer suggests to make a special law in relation to the Sale & Purchase of ships. Furthermore, the writer suggests expanding the Shipping Exchange in Korea.

  • The requirement of high efficiency and low emission for marine diesel engines are being enforced because of air pollution and climate change on the earth. In connection with these, many new technologies are considered. But they are mainly for new building ship. It is necessary to be concerned about the improvement of engine performance for existing ship. In this paper, the simulation program for performance of marine two-stroke diesel engine was developed to predict the deteriorating performance according to elapsed time for existing ship. The result was compared with the result of the program named TOP-CODE which was used by engine maker and checked to be shown good agreement between them.
