슈퍼컴퓨터의 국내도입 및 활용 현황

  • 반도체, 항공.우주, 신소재 등 첨단 산업기술 부문의 연구개발 고도화의 필요성에 효과적으로 부응하고 국내 기초과학 육성을 위하여 CRAY-2S가 설치되었다. 선진 각국의 무역장벽이 높아지고 지적소유권 보호가 강화됨에 따라 첨단기술의 도입이 점차 어려워지는 이때 학계와 연구소의 기초연구에 활용, 국내 연구 수준을 선진국 대열로 높이고, 국내 산업계의 신제품 개발 및 산업 생산성 증대에 활용하여 국산품의 국제 경쟁력을 제고하는 것이 바람직하다.

Proposal of methodology for AI-based new product development: ambidexterity approach (인공지능 기반 신제품 개발 방법론 제안: 양손잡이(Ambidexterity) 접근)

  • This study presents a new methodology for developing AI-based products. It identifies the distinctive attributes of AI innovation that are different from existing methods, and presents a product design process and methodology reflecting these attributes. This study emphasizes that AI product development should be oriented toward an ambidexterity approach. This study proposes a design process and specific development method for AI-based products that including steps such as technology push oriented idea generation with morphological approach, market pull oriented consumer requirements analysis, product design refinement, etc. In order to verify the practical applicability of this methodology, an AI-based car infotainment system development strategy is derived as a case study. 13 innovative ideas were generated by the morphological approach and expert review based on technological possibility, and a total of 6 quality requirements were derived as new product development strategies through the analysis of consumer requirements by combining Kano and TOPSIS. The methodology proposed in this research paper can be usefully utilized for companies to pioneer new markets through AI-based products or to expand the market by upgrading existing products or services.

  • 표준형 부표류 계류시설 기술개발계획 승인(2010. 6. 29) 후 중소기업청 구매조건부 신제품 개발사업의 일환으로 표준형 부표류 계류시설 기술개발이 2010. 6. 1~2012. 5. 31. 약 24개월간 추진되었고, 2013. 5. 31. 신제품 기술개발사업 최종 "성공" 평가로 판정됨에 따라 (등)부표 계류 안정성 검토 결과를 반영한 현장 활용을 통해 신(新) 계류시설의 제도적 기틀을 마련하게 되었다. 그동안 주강용 체인의 문제점으로 지적되었던 고중량, 부식성, 마모성, 해양환경, 전량수입 등과 같은 관리 운영상 문제점이 개선되고, 연구개발(R&D)를 통한 해양분야의 창조경제 실현이 기대된다.

Conjoint Analysis Based on the Chebyshev Estimation, with Application to New Product Development of Cellular Phone (체비쉐프추정에 의한 컨조인트분석 : 휴대전화기 신제품 개발에의 활용)

  • Conjoint analysis is employed to decompose the consumer's preference judgements into the importance of attributes, and to predict the degree of preference for each profile of the products, services, or ideas. It has been widely used in industrial marketing, particularly in the areas of product positioning and new product development. This paper is mainly concerned with the conjoint analysis based on the Chebyshev estimation since the efficiency of the least squares estimator is lower than that of the Chebyshev estimator when the preferences are measured as the rank-order. A case study is performed on the preference for cellular phones. And it is shown that conjoint analysis based on the Chebyshev estimation is superior, in terms of the predictive validity, to one which is based on the least squares estimation.

  • As customers' needs are more diversified, the issue of managing product variety has become more important to manufacturers. It is because an increase in product variety may cause various inefficiencies in operations, while satisfying more diverse needs. Consequently, firms have introduced the concept of modularity to improve operational performance. Yet there are only a few studies which analytically investigate the effect of modularity in new product development (NPD). Therefore, this research develops an analytical model of exploring the effect of modularity on firm profitability when a component built upon new technology is introduced into an existing product, and provides important managerial implications on the NPD and technology management, which can guide the decision making on modularity in practice. The results show that it is necessary to increase modularity level when i) the product is easy to upgrade, ii) the product's price should be high due to external factors, and iii) the effect of new technology investment is uncertain, while it is desirable to increase the investment cost for introducing new products with low demand elasticity for modularity.

The effect of the 1:1 coaching and the example ideas with the GROW model on the creativity of new product development ideas (GROW모델을 활용한 1:1 코칭과 예시 아이디어가 신제품 개발 아이디어 창의성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study is an experimental study to examine the effect of the 1:1 coaching and example ideas with the GROW model on the creativity of new product ideas. Participants were composed of 32 adults who did not know coaching and were not related to new product development-related industries, and the experiment was randomly assigned to 1:1 coaching group, example idea group, and control group. The ideas answered by the participants were evaluated by measuring novelty, appropriateness, and willingness to pay after the experiment, and 30 experimental data and 3 expert group evaluation data were used for the final analysis. As a result of the study, the 1:1 coaching using the GROW model had a significant effect on the creativity of new product ideas, and in particular, had a positive effect on novelty. The example idea group received the lowest score among the three groups, including the control group, in novelty and suitability, and was found to have a negative effect on idea creativity. Based on these results, implications and limitations for the use of coaching in the work or situation of presenting creative ideas were discussed, and suggestions for follow-up studies were made.

  • New product innovation is a key component of a company's survival and sustained growth. With the rapidly changing market environment and global infinite competition, The importance of innovative new product development is growing. In the domestic entertainment industry, Competition is intensifying, and many companies are focusing on developing innovative new products in order to secure continuous competitive advantage in the era of global infinite competition. The problem is that as the intensity of competition increases and the idol production system develops more and more, The costs of planning and marketing are increasing. The fair trade commission estimated the cost of creating an idol group to be about 1 billion won, and some large entertainment companies claim that the investment cost is about 20 ~ 3 billion won. Lean startup is attracting attention as an innovation framework for sustainable competitive advantage of companies. But, there are not many related studies in Korea despite the growing interest. In particular, Case studies that can help to establish specific strategies are limited. Therefore, this study analyzed the successful case of JYP Entertainment's idol singer TWICE who succeeded in new product innovation and suggested practical implications. Theoretically, This study extended the Lean startup to the entertainment industry and suggested practical implications as the basic data for establishing the innovation strategies for the idol singers of domestic entertainment companies.

NPD (New Product Development) Structural Features for Successful Product Proliferation (제품 다양성의 활성화를 위한 신제품 개발 조직의 구조적 특성)

  • The aim of the current study is to look at the mediating effects of structural features (i.e. decentralization, formalization, and specialization) on the relationship between product variety and the performance of product family. This study investigates the impact of decentralization and formalization for platform and derivative projects separately and in the context of the performance of the product family as a whole, as opposed to individual projects. In addition to relationships between people and groups, the current study considers physical element of an organization such as geographical location in which business tasks are conducted. The current study focuses on spatial differentiation which refers to the number of different sites or locations operated by an organization. Based on a cross-industry sample of 103 Korean manufacturers, this study examines the role of organizational structure features in which firms successfully increase product variety. The study examines that formalization in platform projects and decentralization in derivative projects enhance high variety firms' product family performance. The study finds significant mediating effect of spatial proximity on the relationship between product variety and product family performance.

A Knowledge Management System for Supporting Development of the Next Generation Information Appliances (차세대 정보가전 신제품 개발 지원을 위한 지식관리시스템 개발)

  • The next generation information appliances are those that can be connected with other appliances through a wired or wireless network in order to make it possible for them to transmit and receive data between them and to be remotely controlled from inside or outside of the home. Many electronic companies have aggressively invested in developing new information appliances to take the initiative in upcoming home networking era. They require systematic methods for developing new information appliances and sharing the knowledge acquired from the methods. This paper stored the knowledge acquired from developing the information appliances and developed a knowledge management system that supports the companies to use the knowledge and develop their own information appliances. In order to acquire the knowledge, this paper applied two methods for User-Centered Design in stead of using the general ones for knowledge acquisition. This paper suggested new product ideas by analyzing and observing user actions and stored the knowledge in knowledge bases, which included Knowledge from Analyzing User Actions and Knowledge from Observing User Actions. Seven new product ideas, suggested from the User-Centered Design, were made into design mockups and their videos were produced to show the real situations where they would be used in home of the future, which were stored in the knowledge base of Knowledge from Producing New Emotive Life Videos. Finally, data on present development states of future homes in Europe and Japan and newspapers articles from domestic newspapers were collected and stored in the knowledge base of Knowledge from Surveying Technology Developments. This paper developed a web-based knowledge management system that supports the companies to use the acquired knowledge. Knowledge users can get the knowledge required for developing new information appliances and suggest their own product ideas by using the knowledge management system. This will make the results from this research not confined to a case study of product development but extended to playing a role of facilitating the development of the next generation information appliances.

Marketing Strategy of Cheo-um-cheo-rum (세계 최초 알칼리수 소주, <처음처럼> - 웰빙 소주를 통한 시장 분할 -)

  • 두산은 2001년에 <산> 소주 제품으로 소주시장에 진입하였지만, 2002년도에 6.7%였던 <산> 소주의 시장 점유율이 2004년도 들어서서 5.4% 로 하락하였고, 선호도 역시 매우 낮은 수준으로 조사되어, 원인분석과 함께 새로운 소주에 대한 개발 필요성이 대두되었다. 당시 두산은 시장 선도 브랜드인 <참이슬>의 충성 고객층은 감소하면서 비호감 고객층이 증가하는 등 소주에 대한 고객의 욕구가 변화하고 있다는 시장조사 결과에서 성공의 기회를 엿볼 수 있었다. 그리고 1인당 알코올 소비량은 감소하였으나 소주의 소비량은 연간 70병으로 일정한 소비를 나타나고 있었기 때문에, 소주시장의 매력도는 아직 충분히 존재한다고 판단하였다. 그리하여 두산이 목표로 삼을 표적시장 선정을 위한 시장조사를 대대적으로 시작하였는데, 소주 음용 조사에서 30~40대의 남성들은 소비량이 감소하는 반면 여성들의 소주 소비량은 전 연령대에 걸쳐 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 여기에서 두산은 새로운 소주시장에 대한 신제품 개발의 기회를 발견하고, 신제품 개발 프로젝트에 착수하게 되었다. 이를 위해 먼저 소주 트렌드의 변화와 소비자들의 라이프 스타일을 살펴보고, 이를 통해 '웰빙'을 신제품의 주요가치로 결정하게 된다. 이후 시장 세분화 조사를 통해 다량음용자(heavy user)가 많은 품질 중시 시장과 도수 및 숙취 중시 시장에 진입하기로 한다. 그 다음 소주에 대한 소비자들의 불만족 요인이 무엇인지 살펴보고 이를 해결하기 위한 대안들을 탐색한다. 그 결과 '목 넘김이 부드럽고, 몸의 산성화를 중화시키며, 숙취 해소'에 뛰어난 '알칼리수'를 신제품의 주원료로 사용한 <처음처럼>을 개발하게 된다. 소주의 주요 속성별 선호도 조사를 실시한 결과, 모든 속성에서 <처음처럼>이 경쟁사 제품보다 뛰어난 것으로 나타나 두산은 <처음처럼>을 시장에 출시하게 되었다. <처음처럼>은 24~35세를 목표 고객으로 설정하고, 유흥업소가 밀집한 중심상권을 집중적으로 공략하였다. 이를 위해 저가 정책을 실시하여 유통업체의 마진을 높였으며, 다양한 광고, 촉진 전략을 통해서 소비자 인지도를 향상시켰다. 그 결과 수도권 및 전국 지역에서 지속적으로 시장점유율이 증가하였으며, 소비자들에게 <참이슬>과 차별화된 이미지를 구축하게 되었다. <처음처럼>이 성공적으로 시장에 진입할 수 있었던 이유로는 알칼리수 사용, 감성적 브랜드명 채택, 차별화된 마케팅 전략 구사, 그리고 조직원의 강력한 성공 의지 등을 들 수 있다. 소주 시장의 독보적 존재였던 <참이슬>과의 경쟁에서 이루어진 결과라는 점에서 <처음처럼>의 사례는 많은 기업들에게 시사점을 제공할 수 있다. 하지만 현재 '대중성'이나 '친근감'같은 이미지가 <참이슬>에 비해 상대적으로 낮고, <참이슬 fresh>의 출시로 인해 목표 고객인 20대가 이탈되는 문제는 앞으로 <처음처럼>이 극복해야 할 과제이다. 이를 위해 <처음처럼>은 무엇보다 '웰빙 소주'로서의 이미지를 확고히 하기 위한 마케팅 전략을 실행하여야 할 것이다.
