40 Inventive Principles in Reliability Enhancement (신뢰성 향상을 위한 40 발명원리의 활용)

  • The founder of TRIZ, Genrich Altshuller, discovered forty patterns of inventive solutions, known as 40 Inventive Principles, extracting them from tens of thousands of technical patents. It was found further that 40 Inventive Principles are applicable not only for every technical field, but also for non-technical spheres - finance, business, management, marketing, social relations, education and etc. This paper extends the area of reliability through TRIZ. Enclosed are several examples how 40 Inventive Principles have been used in the reliability enhancement in the literature.

  • Reliability analysis of tripod support structure for offshore wind turbine was performed. Extreme distribution function of peak response due to wind and wave loads was estimated by applying peak over threshold(POT) method. Then, stress based limit state function was defined by using maximum stress of support structure which was obtained by multiplying beam stress and concentration factor. The reliability analysis result was compared when maximum stress was calculated from shell element. Reliability index was evaluated using first order reliability method(FORM).

  • A stress-strength model is formulated for s of k systems consisting of identical components. We consider minimum variance unbiased (MVU) estimation of system reliability for data consisting of a random sample from the stress distribution and one from the strength distribution when the two distirubtions are Weibull with unknown scale parameters and same known shape parameter. The asymptotic distribution of MVU estimate of system reliability in the model is obtained by using the standard asymptotic properties of the maximum likelihood estimate of system reliability and establishing their equivalence. Uniformly most accurate unbiased confidence intervals are also obtained for system reliability. Empirical comparison of the two estimates for small samples is studies by Monte Carlo simulation.

Design of Bayesian Zero-Failure Reliability Demonstration Test and Its Application (베이지안 신뢰성입증시험 설계와 활용)

  • A Bayesian zero-failure reliability demonstration test method for products with exponential lifetime distribution is presented. Beta prior distribution for reliability of a product is used to design the Bayesian test plan and selecting a prior distribution using a prior test information is discussed. A test procedure with zero-failure acceptance criterion is developed that guarantees specified reliability of a product with given confidence level. An example is provided to illustrate the use of the developed Bayesian reliability demonstration test method.

  • 우리나라는 비약적인 산업기술발전을 통해 선진국 진입을 눈앞에 두고 있다. 하지만 선진국 진입에 있어 크게 세 가지의 걸림돌이 있다. 첫째로는 세계시장 진입의 장벽, 둘째로 제조물책임법(PL법) 대응방안 미흡, 셋째로는 고객신뢰 및 자원의 한계 이다. 이러한 한계점으로 인하여 신뢰성경영시스템의 필요성이 대두되고 있으며 국내의 신뢰성경영시스템의 활성화는 필수 요소로 다가오고 있다. 본 논문에서는 신뢰성경영시스템의 활성화와 이를 위한 지표개발의 필요성 및 개발 방향성을 제시해보고자 한다.

Development of Structural Reliability Analysis Platform of FERUM-MIDAS for Reliability-Based Safety Evaluation of Bridges (신뢰도 기반 교량 안전성 평가를 위한 구조신뢰성 해석 플랫폼 FERUM-MIDAS의 개발)

  • The collapse of bridges can cause massive casualties and economic losses. Therefore, it is thus essential to evaluate the structural safety of bridges. For this task, structural reliability analysis, considering various bridge-related uncertainty factors, is often used. This paper proposes a new computational platform to perform structural reliability analysis for bridges and evaluate their structural safety under various loading conditions. For this purpose, a software package of reliability analysis, Finite Element Reliability Using MATLAB (FERUM), was integrated with MIDAS/CIVIL, which is a widely-used commercial software package specialized for bridges. Furthermore, a graphical user interface (GUI) control module has been added to FERUM to overcome the limitations of software operation. In this study, the proposed platform was applied to a simple frame structure, and the analysis results of the FORM (First-Order Reliability Method) and MCS (Monte Carlo simulation), which are representative reliability analysis methods, were compared. The proposed platform was verified by confirming that the calculated failure probability difference was less than 5%. In addition, the structural safety of a pre-stressed concrete (PSC) bridge was evaluated considering the KL-510 vehicle model. The proposed new structural reliability analysis platform is expected to enable an effective reliability-based safety evaluation of bridges.

  • Commercial Off the Shelf(COTS) Integrated circuits(ICs) are being increasingly considered for use in space and military applications. Therefore, There is a need to implement standard tests and requirements to ensure reliability of COTS ICs. This paper presents an overview of the ICs screen procedure and methods under the European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS) and Tests Method Standard Microcircuits (MIL-STD-883). We describes the COTS ICs screen test guidelines that are mainly focused after encapsulating. In addition, COTS linear bipolar IC is investigated to evaluate the reliability requirements. The experiment results showed that COTS IC is satisfied with high reliability requirements.

  • By using the failure information and the cumulative test execution time obtained by performing the reliability growth test, it is possible to estimate the parameter of the reliability growth model, and the Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of the product can be predicted through the parameter estimation. However the failure information could be acquired periodically or the number of sample data of the obtained failure information could be small. Because there are various constraints such as the cost and time of test or the characteristics of the product. This may cause the error of the parameter estimation of the reliability growth model to increase. In this study, the Bayesian method is applied to estimating the parameters of the reliability growth model when the number of sample data for the fault information is small. Simulation results show that the estimation accuracy of Bayesian method is more accurate than that of Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) respectively in estimation the parameters of the reliability growth model.

  • 직구동방식 고속 솔레노이드 액추에이터는 자동차, 항공산업 등의 고정밀을 요구하는 산업시스템에 주요부품으로 사용되기 때문에 고신뢰성이 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 직구동방식 고속 솔레노이드 액추에이터의 신뢰성 평가를 위하여 2단계 품질기능전개를 통해 신뢰성시험항목을 결정하였다. 신뢰성평가 시험 중에서 가장 큰 우선도를 차지하는 수명시험에 대해 문헌, 연구계 및 현장실무자를 통한 무고장 수명시험 시간을 산출하였다. 또한 장기간 소요되는 무고장 수명시험 시간의 시간을 단축하기 위해 가속모델을 제안하고 실제 조건을 충족하는 가속수명 시험시간을 산출하였다.
