To investigate the flora of wetland at Mt. II-Kwang, the helophyte of the mountain was examined. The flora observed was classified into 2 phyla, 15 families, 27 genera, and 34 species. Representative species at the wetland were Drosera rotundifolia, Utricularia racemosa, Utricularia bifida, Eriocaulon miquelianum, and Eleocharis attenuata var. laeviseta. In the lower part of the wetland, water was abundant and soil surface layer was thin, and Eriocaulon miquelianum-Carex canescens-Drosera rotundifolia, community were developed. On the other hand, in the upper part of the wetland, water was not abundant and soil surface layer was thick, and Agrostis clavata-Phragmiles japonica community were community were developed. Utricularia bifida and Utricularia yakusimensis were growing abundantly at this wetland, but Utricularia racemasa was few in number and narrow in the distribution area. Eriocaulon miquelianum, a Korean endemic plant, was observed, and Habenaria linearifolia, Spiranthes amoena, and Epipactis thunbergii, the CITES plant, were observed at this wetland. Insectivorous plant such as Drosera rotundifolia, Utricularia racemosa, Utricularia bifida, and Utricularia yakusimensis were also observed.
This study was carried out to determine the optimal conditions for the production of plants derived from the unpollinated ovary culture of Chinese chive (Allium tuberosum Rottl.). The Chinese chive collected from Korea showed much higher frequency of plantlet formation than those from Japan in the culture of unpollinated ovaries. Among the collections, 'Youngiljaerae' showed the highest frequency of plantlet formation. The MS basal medium was superior to B/sub 5/ in plantlet formation. The ovaries inoculated on the 2,4-D-free medium were directly induced plantlets without callus formation. Floral parts inoculated as a unit played important roles in callus formation and plant production. The frequency of callus and plantlet formation was higher in the culture of ovary with anthers than that of ovary alone.
The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for preserving forest ecosystem with understanding forest wetland condition of Mt. Cheongok. It was found from this research that vascular plants of surveyed area were composed of 72 families, 167 genera, 209 species, and 2 subspecies, 27 varieties, 5 formae. totaling 243 taxa. Among the investigated vascular plants, Korea endemic plants were 9 species, rare plants 15 species, and naturalized plants 8 species, respectively. According to the occurrence frequency within the wetland investigated, obligate upland plants (OBU) accounted for 75.72% (184) among the total species investigated, wherea obligate wetland plant (OBW) were four species (4.65%). There were 26 of hygrophyte plants and 2 of emergent plants in the research area according to wet degree. According to habitat category, the most frequently occurred habitat was forest (136 species, 55.97%), and the others were in the order of meadow and shrubland (70 species, 28.81%), wet meadow (35 species, 14.40%), and aquatic environment (2 species, 0.82%), respectively. In the result of analysis of important value, Fraxinus rhynchophylla and Carex pseudosinensis was the highest as 22.17% and 10.40%. It was confirmed that the species diversity was relatively high. Shannon-Wiener's species diversity index was calculated as 2.507. Based on these results, long-term monitoring survey should be urgently needed for ecological restoration and recovery.
To elucidate occurrence patterns of naturalized plants in agroecosystems, we surveyed flora in uplands, orchards and rice paddy fields in middle regions (Gyeonggi-do and Chungcheong-do) of Korea in summer and fall from 2013 to 2015. Our results showed that there are 77 species of naturalize plants in 54 genera and 20 families of vascular plants among total 420 species occurred in the agricultural areas composing 18.3% of naturalized index. Community compositions of both native and naturalized plants were different among agricultural types. We suggested that Cerastium glomeratum Thuill., Bidens frondosa L. and Erigeron philadelphicus L. are capable of dispersal to other regions based on our results with getting to broaden distribution of naturalized plants. The mean naturalized index was the highest in the upland (25.1%) followed by in the orchard (23.0%) and the paddy field (16.1%), while the mean number of naturalized species was the highest in the orchard (21.8 species) followed by in the upland (16.6 species) and paddy field (10.3 species). The numbers of naturalized plants in the orchard were increased along with increasing size of the agricultural land and decreasing ecological area rate. In addition, the number of native species was significantly correlated with the number of naturalized species in the upland. Our results would provide useful information to manage dispersion of naturalized plants in agricultural ecosystems.

Interception data pertaining to Coleoptera, Hemiptera, Lepidoptera, Diptera, Thysanoptera, and Hymenoptera collected at the Korean quarantine border were cross-checked with new recorded species in Korea from 2015 to 2022. Overall, 45,084 interceptions belonging to the six orders were detected, and 545 species belonging to the six orders were newly reported in Korea. Of the 545 species, nine species were recorded as being intercepted at the quarantine border. Among the six orders, Coleoptera, Thysanoptera, and Hemiptera showed high numbers of interception; however, Hymenoptera revealed the highest number in new recorded species. These results indicate that recent newly recorded species in Korea are not subject to inspection at Korean borders and that the current quarantine system needs improvement.
To evaluate the natural environmental conditions of the local areas, the methods using the plant species and plant community are discussed here, Based on Ohba's(1979), Nakanish's(1980a: 1980b), Okuda and Nakamura's(1989), and Haber et al.'s systems(1991), as the evalution-items, 9 in plant species level and 16 in plant community level are proposed. The evalution-items are classified as 3 criteria in plant species level and 4 criteria in plnat community level. The evalution method could be used to promote the spacial planning and to alleviate other administrative problems. Also it could be applied to decide conservation level of plant species and plant community.
