The Effects of R&D Capability and Market Orientation on Product Innovation Performance : The Moderating Role of Technological Innovation Orientation (반도체 기업의 R&D역량과 시장지향성이 제품혁신성과에 미치는 영향: 기술혁신지향성의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • This Study Investigates Whether R&D Capabilities and Market Orientation have Significant Effects on Product Innovation Performance in Order to Enhance Customer Value and Technology Innovation Competitiveness Considering the Characteristics of Rapidly Changing Semiconductor Industry. In other Words, as in the Research Model, the Purpose of this Study is to Investigate the Causal Relationship between the Independent Variable, R&D Capability and Market Orientation, on Product Innovation Performance, which is a Dependent Variable, through the Moderating Variable of Technological Innovation Orientation. For this Study, we Conducted a Questionnaire Survey on the Employees of Development Companies in the Semiconductor Industry and Finally Collected 118 Valid Questionnaires. The Collected Data was Analyzed by Multiple Regression Analysis with Demographic Characteristics as Control Variable and Hierarchical Regression Analysis was Conducted with the Moderating Effects of Technological Innovation Orientation. The Results Showed that the Higher the R&D Intensity and the External Network Capacity, the Higher the Product Innovation Performance. Also, the Product Innovation Performance was Higher than the Customer Orientation and Competitor Orientation Among the Market Orientation. In Addition, only R&D Capability Confirms that Technology Innovation Orientation is Moderated. The Result of this Study is to Improve Understanding of R&D Capability and Market Orientation in Creating of Product Innovation Performance of Semiconductor Companies and to offer Valuable Research Data in Empirically Supporting that Technological Innovation Orientation is an Important Moderating Factor in Creating Firm's Product Innovation Performance and Sustainable Competitive Advantage.

  • 본 연구는 국내하이테크 기업의 기술혁신지향성과 시장지향성이 기업 성과에 미치는지 여부를 규명하고자 Moorman & Miner(1997), Kohli, Jaworski & Kumar (1993)가 개한 척도를 사용하여 탐색적인 연구를 실행하였다. 설문은 2006년 11월 한달 동안 서울 경기지역의 혁신관련 교육을 수행하는 교육 기관과 기술 기반의 제품 개발과 서비스를 수행하는 업체를 대상으로 시행하였다. 가설 검증을 위해 총 200부의 설문지를 배포하여 60부를 회수하여 수집된 자료는 SPSS v12.0을 이용하여 요인분석과 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 기술혁신지향성은 성과에 영향을 미치나 시장지향성이 기업의 성과에 미치는 영향에 대해서는 확인할 수 없었다.

The Effect of the Innovation Capability and the Absorptive Capacity on Market Orientation, Technology Orientation, and Business Performance of IT-BPO Firms (IT-BPO 기업의 혁신역량과 흡수역량 요인이 시장지향성, 기술지향성 및 경영성과에 미치는 영향)

  • This study analyzed the relationship between organizational innovative capability and absorptive capacity, market and technology orientations, and their impact on business performance for IT-BPO companies that are required to absorb new technologies from a leading perspective in the digital transformation era. To achieve this, an online specialized research company and offline surveys were conducted on 291 domestic IT-BPO companies, and SPSS 23 was used for descriptive statistics and reliability analysis while AMOS 23 was used for hypothesis testing including validity and mediating effects. The main findings were as follows: First, in the relationship between innovation and absorptive capabilities and Market Orientation Strategic(MOS), learning capability and knowledge network capability were found to have a statistically significant positive (+) effect on MOS. In the relationship between innovation and absorptive capabilities and Technology Orientation Strategic(TOS), R&D capability, potential absorptive capacity, and realized absorptive capacity had a statistically significant positive (+) effect on TOS. Second, in the relationship between innovation and absorptive capabilities and BP, only R&D capability was found to have a significant effect on BP. Third, both market orientation and technology orientation were found to have a significant positive (+) effect on BP. These findings suggest that effective competency factors can be identified according to the market and technology orientations pursued by IT-BPO companies to increase their growth and value creation, and provide implications for developing differentiated competency enhancement strategies based on strategic objectives.

The Market Orientation's Effect on the Performance : The Mediating Role of the Salespeople-Related Variables and the Customer-Related Variables (기업의 시장지향성이 성과에 미치는 영향 : 판매원관련 변수들과 고객관련 변수들의 매개역할)

  • This research has the goal of model presentation which explains the mediating role of the salespeople-related variables(customer orientation, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment) and the customer-related variables(service quality, service value, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty) on the market orientation's effect on the performance. We collected survey data from 152 shop managers working in the department-store. In the result of final analysis, all 12 hypotheses are supported with statistically significance. The market orientation of firm increases the salespeople-related variables(customer orientation, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment), and the salespeople-related variables increase the customer-related variables(service quality, service value, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty). Finally, customer loyalty increases the performance. This research has the contribution of explanation which shows the mediating role of the salespeople-related variables(customer orientation, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment) and the customer-related variables(service quality, service value, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty) on the market orientation's effect on the performance. According to the result of this research, firms have to focus on the market orientation and understand the role of salespeople-related variables and customer-related variables on the process between the market orientation and the performance.

  • The objective of this study is to find out the direction and strategies of dynamic capacity utilization for the strategic supply chain management (SCM), which is an innovative means for enhancing the efficiency of the firm, and to create an optimal management environment for the competitiveness of firms. The market and technology will be able to generate higher business performance when adapting the strategic direction and culture to the formal dynamic capacities possessed by the firm and reflecting the technology related to the dynamic capacities for the strategic SCM in the process. In this study, we empirically analyze the effect of market and technology orientations on the firm performance and how dynamic capacities affects firm performance. The results of this study show that market and technology orientations have positive effects on dynamic capacities and dynamic capacities have positive effect on firm performance. In addition, it is proved that dynamic capacities mediated the relationship between market orientation, technology orientation, and firm performance.

The Effect of Market Orientation of Knowledge-Based Service Suppliers on the Sourcing Process of Service Recipients (지식기반서비스 공급자의 시장지향성이 수혜자의 소싱과정에 미치는 영향)

  • This study investigates the effect of market orientation of knowledge-based service suppliers on the sourcing process of service recipients. Focusing on a dyadic relationship between a supplier and a buyer, this study proposed a conceptual model of market orientation incorporating the antecedents and consequences of market orientation. This study empirically tested research hypotheses delineated from the conceptual framework. The present study revealed that the impact on the buyer's performance of the supplier's customer and competitor orientation turned out to be more influential than that of inter-departmental cooperation. Also these two dimensions of customer and competitor orientation played a positive role in reducing buyer's perceived risk and uncertainty related to the evaluation of services out-sourced. Interestingly enough, the supplier's perceived importance on the distance between the buyer and supplier remains important especially when the degree of buyer's market orientation is high. This finding is somewhat contrary to the fact that the geographic location of the buyer becomes less important for the internet-based B2B service providers. Based on the findings, this study suggested managerial implications and broadened the scope of academic research in the field of business services. Future research directions and the limitations of this study are also discussed.

  • 최근 국내에서는 인구감소에 따른 일부 지역소멸이 화두가 되고 있다. 대부분이 농촌지역으로 여러 가지 원인이 있으나, 원인 중의 하나로 농업경영체의 성과 미흡에 따른 소득향상의 어려움이 있기 때문이다. 이를 극복하기 위해 정부와 지자체에서는 다양한 정책을 수립하여 지속해서 지원하고 있지만 큰 성과를 내지 못하고 오히려 농엉경영체의 요구사항만 많아지고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 경영자역량이 기업성과에 미치는 영향관계를 살펴보고 경영자역량과 기업성과 간에 있어 시장지향성이 매개역할을 하는지에 대해 분석하는데 있다. 본 연구에서는 농업경영체의 경영자역량을 독립면수로 하여 히위변수에 창의적역량, 네트워킹역량, 자기통제역량, 기술적역량을 선정하고 종속변수에는 기업성과를 매개변수로 시장지향성을 선정하고 연구를 진행하였다. 따라서 본 연구는 농업경영체의 경영자역량이 기업성과에 영향을 미칠 수 있고 시장지향성이 매개효과가 있을 것이라는 인과적 경로를 검증하고자 한다. 세계적인 불확실한 경제환경과 빠르게 변화되고 있는 국내 산업의 구조변화는 농업경영체들이 적응함에 있어 어려움이 존재하고 있는 상황에서 농촌에서 기업활동을 하고 있는 농업경영체 경영자역량의 주요 요인들을 설정하여 연구를 진행하였고 경영자들이 기업성과를 달성함에 있어 도움이 될 것이다.

The Effects of Social Entrepreneurship and Market Orientation on Performance in Social Enterprise (사회적 기업가정신과 시장지향성이 사회적기업의 경영성과에 미치는 영향)

  • This study is to verify the components of social entrepreneurship, market orientation and the causal relationship by examining the impact of each factor on the performance of social enterprises. The survey was conducted on certified social enterprises and the sample of 142 copies was demonstrated with SPSS 22.0. The analysis of the impact on the economic and social performance of social enterprises is as follows. First, the social value orientation and risk sensitivity showed significant results indicating that the social enterprise had a significant impact in part on the economic performance. The social value orientation of the spirit of social entrepreneurs showed significant results on the social performance. Second, market orientation has been shown to have a significant positive influence on both the economic and social performance. This study empirically assessed the impact of Social Entrepreneurship and Market Orientation on the Social and Economic Performance the re-recognition of the importance of social enterprise requires. Next, more active research on market orientation is required in the future in order to strengthen the competitiveness of social enterprises.

Analysis of Entrepreneurial Orientation and Market Share using PLS Structural Equations Modelling -Mediating Effect of R & D Capability & BSC Future Value Creation- (PLS 구조방정식 모형을 활용한 기업가적 지향성과 시장점유율간의 실증 분석 - R&D 역량, BSC 미래가치 창출의 매개효과 -)

  • Discussions on entrepreneurship are increasing, but the methodology that can be applied to actual small to mid-sized businesses and venture firms is insufficient, and research on measuring achievement and application is lacking. In this regard, this paper analyzed actual proof on the relationship among entrepreneurial orientation, R&D capabilities, market share, and the creation of BSC future values that can be empirically applied to small to mid-sized businesses and venture firms. A factor analysis and hypothesis verification have been conducted with the SEM model utilizing SmartPLS 3.0 on the recent 7th year (2017) data from the Human Capital Corporate Panel (HCCP) of the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training. The actual proof analysis revealed that entrepreneurial orientation creates a positive influence on R&D capabilities and the creation of BSC, and also on market share, with R&D capabilities as a parameter. On the other hand, the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and market share proved to be not statistically meaningful. Future value creation of BSC also could not mediate the relation between entrepreneurial orientation and market share. Therefore, this research has proven that a company must cultivate its personnel's R&D capabilities with their entrepreneurial orientation. Furthermore, it is a significant fact that BSC, the conventional measuring tool for performance management, could not mediate the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and market share. Future companies aiming at innovation should consider developing a new index that could measure the corporate-level entrepreneurship and conduct performance management.

The Influences of SMEs' Market Orientation and Brand Orientation on Firm Capabilities and Performance in Export Markets (수출중소기업의 시장지향성과 브랜드지향성이 기업역량 및 수출성과에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined the casual relationships among SMEs' market orientation, brand orientation, firm capabilities-technology and marketing capabilities, competitive advantage and financial performance in export markets based on the resource-based view. The data were collected from 286 cases of exporting SMEs. The results of path analysis indicated that market orientation of exporting SMEs increased technology and marketing capabilities. Market orientation directly increased both competitive advantage and financial performance in export markets. Brand orientation influenced technological capability and had indirect effects on both competitive advantage and financial performance through the firm capabilities. Based on the results, managerial implications and future research directions for exporting SMEs were provided.
