  • 본 논문은 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 제공자, 소비자 사이의 양방향 서비스를 효율적으로 제공하기 위해 소비자의 시선추적을 통한 데이터 분석 방법을 제안한다. 멀티미디어 콘텐츠를 여러 개의 객체로 분류하여 제공자의 의도를 표현하고 임의의 좌표 값으로 소비자의 시선을 대체한다. 소비자 시선과 제공자의 의도를 비교하여 소비형태 분석 데이터를 얻을 수 있다. 이 데이터를 활용하여 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 화면을 재구성하거나 콘텐츠 인터페이스를 구성한다면 소비자 맞춤형 멀티미디어 콘텐츠 서비스 제공이 가능할 것이라 기대한다.

  • 본 연구는 e러닝 학습 환경에서 문제 풀이에 대한 전문가와 학습자 사이의 시선 흐름을 비교 분석하여 학습자에게 보다 효율적인 학습 방법을 제시 할 수 있는 데이터를 추출하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구를 위해 빛의 투과율이 적은 장소의 PC에 웹캠을 설치하였고, 학습 화면의 해상도는 $1600{\times}900$로, 3명의 전문가와 5명의 학습자를 통하여 10문항에 대한 시선 추적으로 학습 데이터를 축적하였다. 축적한 데이터를 통하여 고득점 학습자나, 전문가의 학습 방법을 비교하여 유사도를 측정하였고, 유사도에 따라 학습 유형을 추천해 줄 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다.

Video Summarization Using Eye Tracking and Electroencephalogram (EEG) Data (시선추적-뇌파 기반의 비디오 요약 생성 방안 연구)

  • This study developed and evaluated audio-visual (AV) semantics-based video summarization methods using eye tracking and electroencephalography (EEG) data. For this study, twenty-seven university students participated in eye tracking and EEG experiments. The evaluation results showed that the average recall rate (0.73) of using both EEG and pupil diameter data for the construction of a video summary was higher than that (0.50) of using EEG data or that (0.68) of using pupil diameter data. In addition, this study reported that the reasons why the average recall (0.57) of the AV semantics-based personalized video summaries was lower than that (0.69) of the AV semantics-based generic video summaries. The differences and characteristics between the AV semantics-based video summarization methods and the text semantics-based video summarization methods were compared and analyzed.

  • The eye-tracking [ET] is used on the human computer interaction [HCI] analysing the movement status as well as finding the gaze direction of the eye by tracking pupil's movement on a human face. Nowadays, the ET is widely used not only in market analysis by taking advantage of pupil tracking, but also in grasping intention, and there have been lots of researches on the ET. Although the vision based ET is known as convenient in application point of view, however, not robust in changing environment such as illumination, geometrical rotation, occlusion and scale changes. This paper proposes two steps in the ET, at first, face and eye regions are discriminated by Haar classifier on the face, and then the pupils from the discriminated eye regions are tracked by CAMShift as well as Template matching. We proved the usefulness of the proposed algorithm by lots of real experiments in changing environment such as illumination as well as rotation and scale changes.

  • In remote gaze tracking system using infra-red LEDs, calibrating the position of reflected light is essential for computing pupil position in captured images. However, there are limitations in reducing errors because variable locations of head and unknown radius of cornea are involved in the calibration process as constants. This study purposes a gaze tracking method based on pupil-corneal reflection that does not require user-calibration. Our goal is to eliminate the correction process of glint positions, which require a prior calibration, so that the gaze calculation is simplified.

  • Initial stage of emotion has a great influence on building up product image and impression. Because of its influencing effects, measuring initial stage of emotion has potential to be a key factor for designers and marketers to achieve a distinct product concept. While many researchers have studied this topic with the emotion measurement method in product use stage, there are very few cases specialized in the initial stage of emotion. Even though present emotion measurement methods have difficulties to derive accurate user's initial stage of emotion, most case of initial emotion study applies these defective methods. The purpose of this study is to develop initial stage of emotion measurement method and apply this method to real product context. In the design of the initial stage of emotion measurement method, noticeable characteristics of initial stage of emotion were explored and initial emotion measurement framework was presented. Based on this framework, Initial Emotion Measurement System(IEMS) was suggested. This method collects user's eye movement, behavior and verbal data accurately and objectively.

  • In this paper, we present a tracking accuracy enhancement method by compensating the time delay of the video tracker in an EOTS. The proposed method has two functional parts, which can cope with the time delay of LOS and maneuvering target informations by Smith predictor and Kalman filter. So it can dramatically reduce the tracking error over conventional PI control or Smith predictor control. To verify the proposed method, various and extensive simulation and experimental results are given.

  • This study has attempted to explore the audience's visual attention about the subtitles types of CATV entertainment program. To achieve this, this research has measured the dwell time and average fixation data through the eye-tracking test and analysed the reason of particular visual attention by in-depth interview. According to the eye-tracking research findings, four types of subtitles(character metaphor, character metonymy, event metaphor, event metonymy) were measured the highest dwell time and average fixation time. Also, according to in-depth interview, visual attention was clearly turned up that event metonymy constructs the conflicts between characters and overstates the trip place romantically. This results means that staffs of intensify the reality and visual pleasure through event metonymic subtitles.

  • The recent increase in virtual reality (VR) technology around the world has been VR work in cooperation with technology from other sectors to form new trends. In the case of advertising, it is difficult to trace if VR users viewed a certain piece of advertisement because the current technology does not allow them to interact with the screen. Eye tracking technology can act as a solution to the problem of tracing advertisement views as it allows for data extraction in relation to which advertisements were viewed and for how long. The research paper suggests a method of how to track the eyes of users in VR advertising. The suggested method includes communication between a server and VR HMD (virtual reality head mounted display) as well as a screen of output from the server.

  • 본 논문에서는 HMD(Head Mounted Display) 하단에 눈동자의 움직임 영상을 취득할 수 있는 USB 카메라를 부착한 후, 3차원 1인칭 슈팅(First Person Shooting) 게임에서 게임 캐릭터의 시선방향을 눈동자 움직임에 의해 조작하는 방법을 제안한다. 시스템은 입력 영상으로부터 눈동자의 중심 위치를 실시간 영상 처리 방법으로 추출하고, 눈동자의 위치 정보와 모니터상의 응시 지점사이의 기하학적인 연관관계를 결정하는 캘리브레이션을 진행하며, 캘리브레이션 정보를 기반으로 모니터 상의 최종적인 응시 위치를 결정하여 이 정보에 의해 게임상의 3차원 뷰(view) 방향을 조정하는 부분으로 구성되어 있다. 실험 결과 본 논문의 방법에 의해 손이 불편한 사용자에게 게임을 즐길 수 있는 기회를 제공하고, 게임 캐릭터와 게임 사용자의 시선 방향을 일치시킴으로서 게임의 흥미와 몰입감을 증가시킬 수 있는 결과를 얻음을 수 있었다.
