The Effects of Rehabilitation Exercise Using a Home Video Game (PS2) on Gait Ability of Chronic Stroke Patients (가정용 게임기를 이용한 재활운동이 뇌졸중 환자의 보행 능력에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was investigate the effect of rehabilitation exercise using a home video game(PS2, Sony) on gait ability in the chronic stroke patients. The subjects of this study were 32 patients who underwent stroke for more than 6 months and were assigned to a game-based exercise group (n=16) or a control group (n=16). The Game-based exercise group executed a rehabilitation exercise three times a week during 6 weeks, at the rehabilitation unit. The exercise was performed by PS2 for one hour. Control group maintained their usual life without application of exercise. Outcome measures included gait ability. After the completion of the game-based exercise, 10m walking velocity was improved significantly (p<0.05). Six minute walking distance was increased significantly (p<0.05). These results showed that the rehabilitation exercise using a home video game is effective in the improvement of gait ability in chronic stroke patients. This study suggest that interesting, motivating game-based rehabilitation exercise and effective in recovery of function exercise for chronic stroke patients should be necessary to develop and apply.

A Tablet PC-Based Music-Making Program for Improving Executive Function of Adolescents With Intellectual Disabilities (지적장애 청소년의 집행기능 향상을 위한 태블릿 PC 기반 음악 만들기 활동)

  • This study examined the effects of a tablet PC-based music-making program on the executive function of adolescents with intellectual disabilities. Four adolescents with intellectual disabilities participated in this program. Each participant received 45-minute individual sessions twice a week for a total of 16 sessions. The music-making program was designed in the sequence of planning; learning table PC operations; exploring musical elements; making rhythm, melody, and lyrics; composing loop sections; and presentation of the completed music. The Stroop test, Children's Color Trails Test, and Digit Span and Letter-Number sequencing tests were measured at pretest, midtest, and posttest in order to examine changes in executive function. The participants showed increased scores on all three tests. The participants' attention span also increased and their attempts to correct errors during tasks occurred more frequently at posttest. This study supports the effects of the technology-based program on the executive function of adolescents with intellectual disabilities and presents its expanded applicability for adolescents who show low cognitive function and limited motivation for cognitive engagement.

Put-call Parity and the Price Variablity of KOSPI 200 Index, Index Futures and Index Options (풋-콜 패리티 괴리율과 주식, 선물, 옵션시장의 가격변동)

  • The deviation from put-call parity condition may affect market prices since it provides an opportunity of arbitrage to many participants. This study uses the KOSPI200 index data and examines the interdependence among spot, futures, and options contracts by examining whether the deviations from the parity have significant roles in price formation. Whenever the parity condition is violated, the deviation tends to affect the prices significantly in most markets. The results show that positive values of deviation are associated with the fall of the prices in the spot and put option contracts and the rise of the call option premiums, thus decreasing the deviations. Also, the decreasing impact of deviations lasts for at Beast an hour in most markets. Futures prices, however, do not show clear relations with the deviations, which suggests the possibility that futures markets lead other markets.

  • Maintenance of an optimal air quality in the enclosed pig building is potentially important in terms of pig performance and farmer health. The objective of this on-site experiment is to evaluate and compare efficiencies of currently utilized biological additives to reduce odor emissions from the enclosed pig building. As a result, generally all the additives except for salt water, artificial spice and essential oil were proved ineffective in reducing odor generation. The beneficial effects of salt water, artificial spice and essential oil on odor reduction were highlighted on ammonia, odor intensity and offensiveness, and sulfuric odorous compounds, respectively. To efficiently utilize odor masking agent such as the artificial spice, ventilation rate should keep slightly lower than the optimal level. Essential oil functioned well as not only masking agent but also antimicrobial agent for reducing odor. To precisely quantify odor concentration, it should be measured by not the odor sensor but the olfactometry technique.

Hydraulic Impact Scope and Dissolved Oxygen Distribution by the Micro-bubble Aeration in an Artificial Lake (인공호소에서 마이크로 버블 포기에 의한 수리학적 영향반경과 용존산소 분포)

  • This study investigated the hydraulic impact scope and dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration distribution by the micro-bubble aeration in the Juksan Lake located in Asan city in Chungcheongnam-do province. A tracing experiment for hydraulic impact scope was used which constituted a 20% rhodamine solution. A 160 m-guideline was installed in the horizontal direction of the micro-bubble jet flow and the rhodamine concentration, water temperature, and DO concentration were measured at depths of 1 m, 2 m, and 3 m at intervals of 10 m. In the Juksan Lake, the effective range of jet flow discharged by the micro-bubble generator was about 40 m, and after then the jet plume moved up to 80 m to 120 m through the advection and diffusion processes of ambient water. DO concentration in the lake was maintained at 7.4-12.6 mg/L during tracking experiment. The DO of the lake sediments improved from 0.2 mg/L to 8.0 mg/L after applying micro-bubble aeration. In conclusion, the micro-bubble aeration can be an effective technology for the management and improvement of water quality in an agricultural reservoir.

  • 우리나라에 내리는 대부분의 강수량은 6월${\sim}$8월의 장마기간 혹은 태풍의 영향으로 인해 발생한다. 특히 국지적으로 발생하는 집중호우로 인해 많은 인명, 재산 피해 등이 발생한다. 우리나라에서 집중호우로 인한 피해는 거의 매년 발생하고 있으며, 집중호우의 발생 지역은 특정 지역에 국한되어 있지 않다. 따라서 집중호우 발생으로 인한 피해 방지를 위해 사전에 충분한 준비를 해야 한다. 2006년 7월 8일부터 10일까지 3일 동안 진주지역 306.5mm, 합천지역 259.5mm, 산청지역 366.0mm의 집중호우가 발생하였으며, 이 기간 동안 이들 지역 외에도 전국적으로 태풍 에위니아(EWINIAR)의 영향으로 많은 호우가 발생하였다. 본 연구에서는 2006년 7월 진주지역 집중호우 특성 연구를 위해 진주지역 시강우 자료를 이용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 시강우 자료를 이용하여 진주지역 재현기간별 확률강우량을 산정하였고 2006년 7월 8일부터 10일까지의 강우분포형태를 설계강우분포형과 비교하였다. 또한 2006년 7월 발생했던 진주지역 집중호우의 무차원 누가곡선을 작성하여 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과 일최대 강우량의 경우 그 크기가 50년 혹은 80년 이내였으며, 강우분포형의 경우 하천정비기본계획의 경우 Mononobe 중앙집중형이였지만, 지난 호우의 경우 후방위의 강우가 연속적으로 발생한 형태였다. 또한 대부분의 강우가 6시간 이내에 내려 첨두홍수 발생에 많은 영향을 미쳤을 것으로 판단된다. 앞으로 이상기후와 같은 자연 현상에 대비하기 위해서는 단시간 호우에 대한 정확한 분석과 강우분포에 대한 연구가 더욱 필요할 것으로 생각된다.적자색의 미려한 결정이 석출되므로 이 결정을 여과하여 ethanol로 세척하고 진공 desiccator중에서 건조시켰다. 수득량 1.2~1.3g.)와의 조환가는 11.9565의 상인연소현상을 보였다. 삭과색(Y) 경색(R) 유전자간에는 어느것이나 연소현상이 보이지 않았다. 4. 단일반응성의 변이는 연소적이며 우성은 거의 인정되지 않았고 인자간의 상호작용도 인정되지 않았으며 상가적 유전을 보였다. 광의와 협의의 유전력은 각각 89.50%로서 실용적으로 대단히 높은 것으로 생각되었으며 단일반응성에 관여하는 유전자수는 2대의 인자로 추정하였고 다시 양친의 유전자형을 aabb AABB라고 측정하여 각인자의 작용가는 11.136일로 산출되었고 분해법에 의한 유전분석결과 유전자형의 관찰빈도분포와 이론빈도분포는 서로 잘 적합되었다. 단일반응성에 있어서 유전력이 대단히 높았으므로 비교적 초기세대에서 본 형질의 선발이 가능할 것 같았다. 5. 단일반응성과 엽형 및 엽병색 유전자와의 사이에 $F_2$, $BC_1$$BC_2$에서 각각 유의적인 상관관계를 볼 수 있었으므로 이들 형질간에 연소가 있는 것으로 인정되었다. 더욱 엽형과 엽병색과의 연소가 있는 것으로 인정되는 이상단일반응성 유전자와의 사이에 연소군이 인정된다. 6. 섬유중 유전자와 엽병색 및 엽형유전자와의 사이에 $F_2$$BC_1$$BC_2$에서 각각 유의적 상관관계를 볼 수 있었으므로 이를 형질간에 연소가 있는 것으로 인정되었다. 더욱 엽형과 엽병색과의 연소가 있는 것으로 인정되는 이상 섬유중 유전

Fabrication and Scintillation Characteristics of LiPO3 glass scintillators with the lanthanides activators (란탄계열 원소를 활성체로 첨가한 LiPO3 유리 섬광체의 제작과 섬광특성)

  • $LiPO_3$ glass scintillators were fabricated, and lanthanides(except Pm) oxides or chlorides were used as an activator. For the fabrication of $LiPO_3$ glasses, optimum heating conditions were obtained, and the photoluminescence of the glasses was measured by the monochromator. For the best transparency of the glass samples, optimum heating temperature and time are $950^{\circ}C$ and 90 min, respectively. It was found that Pr, Nd, Gd, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Lu do not work as activator; emission spectrums of samples with them were equal to those of samples without activators. In the case of samples with Europium, the peaks of emission spectrum of $Eu^{2+}$ and $Eu^{3+}$ were 420 nm and 620 nm respectively. And samples with $Ce^{3+}$ were about 380 nm, and $Tb^{3+}$ were about 550 nm. Glass scintillators with $Be^{3+}$, $Eu^{2+}$, and $Ce^{3+}$ were found to be more applicable to neutron detection. The result of neutron detection by Ra-Be sources showed that $Ce^{3+}$ was found to be the best activator of $LiPO_3$.

Effect of Bottom Sediments on Oxygen Demand of Overlying Water in Onshore of Lake (팔당호 수변부 퇴적물이 수층의 산소소모에 미치는 영향)

  • n situ sediment oxygen demand (SOD), which takes place with the uptake of dissolved oxygen for biological metabolism and chemical oxidation in sediments, ranged from 1.57 to $12.55\;mg\;O_2\;m^{-2}\;h^{-1}$ in onshore of Lake Paldang from April to November 1999. SOD was influenced by the amount of organics and oxygen diffusion. Comparing the oxygen demands partitioning between overlying water and sediment during initial phase, SOD accounted for $63.8{\sim}94%$ of total oxygen demand in Lake Paldang. The chemical SOD and nitrogenous oxygen demand ranged $1.2{\sim}18.3%$ and $8.3{\sim}51.7%$ of total SOD, respectively. This result indicated that SOD in Lake Paldang occurred mainly by aerobic respiration and nitrification. Although the flow velocity could increase SOD within a certain limit, the effect of sediment depth on SOD was dependent on physicochemical properties of the sediment. This study showed that SOD can represent a significant portion of the total oxygen up-take in Lake Paldang. Therefore, the assessment of SOD might be necessary for the control of water quality.

Effects of Molasses Supplementation Levels to Daesihotang (Herbal Medicine) Meal on Quality of Silage and the Palatability in Goats (당밀의 첨가가 대시호탕(한약제)박 사일리지의 품질과 산양의 기호성에 미치는 영향)

  • Two experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of molasses supplementation levels to silage materials in ensiling herbal medicine meal on the quality of silage, and its palatability in Korean native goats. In experimentⅠ, molasses were added at the levels of 0, 0.5, and 1.0% to herbal medicine (Deasihotang) meal, with three replicates per each level. They were kept at room temperature for 40 d in glass bottles in order to get silage samples. In experiment Ⅱ, nine 1.5-yr-old Korean native female goats were employed to measure their palatability. In experimentⅠ, lactic acid contents in molasses treatments were significantly (p<0.05) higher, and pH and butyric acid contents was lower than those of non-molasses control treatment. In addition, molasses treatments increased total microbial cell counts in MRS medium for lactobacillus, but decreased total microbial cell counts in PDA medium for fungi. Molasses supplementation to silage materials increased in vitro dry matter disappearance rate. Molasses supplementation tended to increase silage intake in Korean native goat (experiment II), however, the difference was not significant. It is concluded that molasses supplementation to silage materials in ensiling Daesihotang meal could improve its preservability and palatability, the larger the amount the better the quality.

The Effects of the Physical Activity Program on Body Composition, Depression and Risk Factors of Dementia in the Elderly Women (고령 여성들의 신체활동 프로그램 참여가 신체조성, 우울증 및 치매 위험 인자에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a physical activity program on body composition, depression and risk factors of dementia in elderly women. Subjects were 40 women aged 65~75 years, classified into two groups (experiment group 20, control group 20). The factors measured in this study were body composition (weight, percent body fat, body mass index, body fluid), depression (BDI score) and risk factors of dementia (K-MMSE, LDL-C, HDL-C, insulin, ${\beta}$-amyloid, DHEAs) at 12 and 24 weeks before and after the program. Subjects of experiment group participated in a 24 week physical activity program (45~60 min, 3~4 day per weeks). Data were analyzed by repeated ANOVA method of SPSS, with accepting levels for all significances above ${\alpha}$=0.05. The results of this study were as follows. In body composition, the experiment group showed significant differences in the weight, percent body fat and body mass index compared to the control group. In depression score, the experiment group showed no significant differences regarding BDI score level compared to the control group. In risk factors for dementia, the experiment group showed significant differences in levels of K-MMSE, LDL-C, HDL-C, insulin, ${\beta}$-amyloid, and DHEAs compared to the control group. This study showed that a 24 week physical activity program had positive effects on almost all of the factors evaluated in elderly women, and that elderly women who did not participate in the program experiences no such positive effects. Therefore, regular participation in a physical activity program could be advocated as one strategy to enhance body fat, depression, and risk factors of dementia and may result in improving risk for diseases of age in elderly women.
