Modeling and Vibration Analysis of Steering System (스티어링 시스템의 모델링 및 진동 해석)

  • In this study, ti identify the dynamic characteristics of automobile steering system which consists of many components and joints, each component combined structure was analyzed using commercial structural package, ANSYS. And, the finite element method for each component and modeling method of several joints universal joint, bolt joint, bearing, etc. were studied. On the other hand, the experimental modal analysis was performed to compare with the results of the finite element analysis and joint modeling. The result shows very close agreement between two analysis. Also, it was found that the steeing column used in this experiment does not effect the low frequency mode of entire system. In addition, we found that constraint equations need to be considered in modeling universal joint. Since the stiffness effect of Urethane around wheel could be ignored, it can be modeled only with mass effect. In the end, it was found that dynamic characteristics of the entire steerintg system depends mainly upon the wheel characteristics.

Assisted Flow Rate Characteristics in Hydraulic Power Steering System (유압식 파워 스티어링 시스템의 어시스트 유량 특성)

  • Flow rate of the power steering oil pump is affected by oil temperature, engine rpm and pressure of pump. In this paper, considering those conditions, approximate model expressed by flow rate characteristics between hydraulic power steering oil pump and steering gear is proposed. Oil pump displacement is considered to be 9.6cc/rev. which is adapted to mid size car. Flow rate of the oil pump is predicted from the proposed model and compared with experimental data. And catch-up is also predicted in each steering wheel speed and is compared with experimental results.

A Study on the Weight Reduction of the Steering Pump Bracket (스티어링 펌프 브라켓의 경량화에 관한 연구)

  • The power steering pump bracket for a passenger car which is mounted on the engine block plays a role to support the inertia forces of the pump and the reaction forces of the belt assembly. The existing bracket which is made of FCD material has some demerits such as heavy weight, lower productivity and lower reliability. Recently, AI alloy bracket has been investigated to overcome these demerits. In this study, Stress analysis and modal analysis for a existing FCD bracket and two type of AI alloy brackets were performed, and strength and natural frequency of them were estimated by using finite element method to accomplish the weight reduction. As a result, the modified shape of AI alloy bracket is proposed, and it has achieved the 45% weight reduction and the improvement of its strength and vibration characteristics.

  • Steering system is typically one of the vehicle parts that may injure an unrestrained driver in a frontal collision. Therefore, the engineers of vehicle safety parts researched the allowable injury criteria such as HIC(head injury criterion). chest acceleration and knee impact force. From their research, they recognized that development of energy absorbing steering system was necessary to protect the driver. Energy absorbing parts of steering system consist of shear capsule, ball sleeve and shaft assembly. We performed the modelling and dynamic analysis of the energy absorbing steering column with the unrestrained driver model. The conclusions of this study are as follows. 1) The variation of column angle has an important effects on the dynamic responses of steering system and driver behavior. 2) The energy absorbing steering system satisfies the safety criterion of FMVSS 203, 208, but not the safety criterion of FMVSS 204.

  • 본 논문에서는 운전자의 편의를 위해 직관적인 방향 정보를 햅틱 정보로 전달하기 위한 시스템을 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템을 구현하기 위해, 햅틱 진동에 방향성을 추가하기 위한 햅틱 기술을 적용하였다. 제안하는 시스템의 작동 과정은 인지와 햅틱 신호 생성으로 나누어지며, 그 과정은 다음과 같다. 인지 과정에서는 차량의 양 측면에 달린 카메라를 이용해 차선을 검출한다. 또한 상단에 부착된 라이다 센서를 이용해 장애물의 방향과 거리를 판단한다. 동적 햅틱 신호 생성 과정에서는 인지된 정보들을 활용하여 차선 이탈과 장애물 충돌의 경보를 구분할 수 있고, 방향성을 포함하는 동적 햅틱 신호가 생성된다. 생성된 신호는 스티어링 휠과 시트에 부착된 진동 모터를 통해 전달된다. 이러한 기능을 갖는 시스템은 로봇을 사용한 시뮬레이션 환경에서 진행되었다.

  • 유압 시스템(System)은 원동기의 기계적 에너지를 유압펌프가 작동유를 압력 에너지의 형태로변환 시켜 이것을 유합 실린더(Cylinder)등의 엑츄에이터(Actuator)가 다시 기계적 에너지로 변환시켜 부하 를 구동하게한다. 상용차(NT-1, KH 등)용 파워스티어링(Power Steering)에 장착되는 Vane Type Oil Pump (이하 VOP)가 바로 이와같은 역할을 담당하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 VOP의 성능과 관련되어지는 주요 제원(Parameter)인 미끄럼부에서의 틈새, 작동유점도, 압력변화, 회전수 등을 다양하게 변화시키는 모의실험(Simulation)을 통하여각각의 조건하에서얻어지는 누설 유량과 체적효율을 수치적 으로 예측하고 이것을 주요제원을 고려하여 해석해서 정량적인 값을 얻는 것을 목적으로한다.

자율운항선박 원격제어신호 생성장치에 관한 연구

  • 선박 원격제어신호를 실제 선박에 적용하려면 대상 선박마다 연결가능한 형태가 되어야 한다. 따라서, 제어신호 수신부와 액추에이터와 연결되는 인터페이스부로 나누어, 원격제어신호 수신시 신호를 변환하는 컨버터와 그 신호가 표현될 수 있는 모델 디스플레이부를 개발하였으며, 다양한 실선 환경에 연동할 수 있도록 인터페이스 방식을 연구하였다. 또한, 선박 원격제어시 명령이 송신되는 시점과 응답이 수신되는 시점이 가시적으로 표시 되도록 하여, 원격 제어자가 직관적으로 제어상태를 파악할 수 있도록 하였다.

  • The steering gear box for mid-heavy duty electric vehicles are usually produced by only a few specialized companies. The special techniques, such as designing, producing and testing technology have been veiled. For this reason, steering gear boxes are imported from other country. The durability test with the electric vehicle which is satisfies the design parameters takes several years, and a prototype is installed in the real vehicle for the test. In this research, the steering gear box of the steering system was developed based on the reverse engineering and the testing methods and the steering gear box development process have been suggested. The prototype is also developed with the CAD and CAE tools. Developed steering gear box have been tested in torque tester and have satisfied requied torque. As a result, the process and testing methods studied in this research are useful in the development processes of electric vehicles steering system.

Optimal Die Profile Design in Tube Drawing Process for Prevention of Material Fracture (파단방지를 위한 튜브인발공정 최적 금형형상 설계에 관한 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to design the optimal die profile that can prevent material fracture in the tube drawing process for automobile steering input shaft. First, the CDV(Critical Damage Value) of material is obtained by the compression test and FE-analysis. The occurrence of fracture is estimated by the FE-analysis considering the CDV. In order to achieve the objective of this study, optimization technique and FE-analysis are applied. FPS(Flexible Polyhedron Search) method, which is one of the non-gradient optimization techniques often used in engineering, is used to search optimal die profile. The drawing die profile is represented by Bezier-curve to generate all the possible die profile. Using FPS method and FE-analysis the optimal drawing die profile is determined. To verify tile effectiveness of the redesigned optimal die, the tube drawing experiment is performed. In the experimental result, it is possible to produce sound product without material fracture using the redesigned optimal die.
