  • This study examined the perception of driving ability of drivers under stressful situation and it attempted to collect the base data in an effort to prevent the traffic accidents by the women drivers. For this purpose, 180 drivers residing in the Seoul and Gyeonggi region were selected to find out how they perceive their driving ability and driving ability of the others, and in particular, study was focused on in what kind of situation female drivers felt most stress out. Looking in relation to the driving ability, female drivers tend to assess overly high on driving ability of male drivers while making excessively low on the abilities of other female drivers. Looking into the stress of female drivers while driving, the female drivers experience more stress during driving compared to the male drivers. This type of result indicates that the women lack the confidence on driving abilities while experiencing severe stress on the driving performance.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify factors influencing attitude to use of technology in teaching activities. For this study, a hypothetical technology acceptance model(TAM) was composed of TPACK, technostress, innovation, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and behavioral intention to use technology in teaching activities. The survey was administered to 254 pre-service teachers. The result of this study through structural equation modeling analysis is as follows: First, TPACK significantly affects technostress. second, perceived ease of use affects perceived usefulness. Third, TPACK, technostress, perceived usefulness affects behavioral intention to use, but innovation and perceived ease of use did not affect behavioral intention to use. These results imply that TPACK, technostress, perceived usefulness are important to enhance behavioral intention to use technology in teaching activities. This study propose the constructive foundation for providing strategies raising the behavioral intention to use of technology in teaching activities.

  • The purpose of this study was to make a comparison in perceived stressor and psychopathology among premenstrual, menstrual and postmenstrual phases, in high school girls. Three hundred forty-one high school girls(164 academic school girls, 177 art school girls) participated in this study. Global assessment of recent stress(GARS) scale and symptom checklist-90-revised(SCL-90R) were used to measure perceived stressors and psychopathology. The scores of perceived stressor relevant to change in relationships were significantly higher during the premenstrual and the postmenstrual phases than during the menstrual phase. However, no significant differences were found in psychopathology among three mentstrual phases. Scores of perceived stressor relevant to change or no change in routine were significantly higher in academic school girls than in art school girls. The scores of obsessive-compulsion subscale and positive symptom total were significantly higher in academic school girls than in art school girls. In conclusion, a perceived stressor was higher during the premenstrual and the postmenstrual phases than during the menstrual phase in adolescents, but psychopathology was not related to the menstrual cycle. These results indicated that the psychopathology in adolescent girls might be influenced by other factors than menstrual cycle.

  • The primary aim of this study is to find out the relationship of examination stress with serum cortisol and prolatin levels. 20 male medical students participated in this study. Global assessment of recent stress (GARS) scale and SCL-90R were used to measure stress perception and psychopathology. Radioimmunoassay was used to assess serum cortisol and prolactin. Serum cortisol level was significantly higher during exam period than during nonexam period. However, there was no significant difference in serum prolactin level between the two periods. In psychopathology, only interpersonal sensitivity had a significantly negative correlation with serum cortisol level during exam period. On the other hand, stress perception had no significant correlation with serum cortisol and prolactin levels during each of exam and non-exam period. The results suggest that cortisol is more likely to be associated with psychological stress such as examination than prolactin, and that specific psychopathology such as interpersonal sensitivity is more likely to be associated with lower serum cortisol level.

  • Objectives : We aimed to explore the relationship among fatigue and perceived stress, depressive mood in the working population. We also examined associations with demographic and life style factors and investigated the effect of individual coping skills on these associations. Methods : Fatigue Severity Scale(FSS), Perceived Stress Scale(PSS), Brief Encounter Psychosocial Instrument - Korean version(BEPSI-K), Beck Depression Inventory(BDI), Stress Coping Skill Questionnaire were administered to 621 civil servants. All of above and other demographic factors are self-administered questionnaire survey and this study is cross sectional. Results : Mean FSS score was 3.04 which was lower than 3.22, the severity cut off score. FSS, PSS, BEPSI-K, BDI were all higher in female. Subjects with active coping skills showed relatively low fatigue, perceived stress, depressive mood than those with passive coping skills. Logistic regression analyses indicated that the PSS, BDI, BEPSI-K in working population increase the risk of fatigue and regular exercise lowers the risk. Conclusions : Adults who were afflicted by stress, experienced depressive mood or were physically inactive were at much higher risk of feeling fatigue. Since no other large data sets are available for fatigue, the results from this study could serve a very useful purpose, to furnish a basis for comparison with future research results based on more complete data.

  • A comparison was made between workers exposed to organic solvents and those not exposed to them regarding stress perception and psychopathology, using GARS scale and SCL-90-R. The exposed group scored significantly higher than the non-exposed group in stress perception relevant to job-wort changes in relationship, sickness or injury, financial, and overall global area. The exposed group was significantly higher in somatization scale than the non-exposed group. However, there was no significant correlation between duration of exposure and psychopathology. In each of the groups. female workers showed more psychopathology than male ones. Age showed significantly nagative correlation with psychopathology. These results suggest that the exposed group shows higher stress perception and more psychopathology than the non-exposed group. Thus. it is emphasized that health policy makers as well as employers should pay more attention to health. espcially mental health for the workers exposed to organic solvents.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the relationships between perceived stress, ego-resilience, and premenstrual syndrome(PMS) and investigate the factors affecting PMS in female college students. The study participants were 215 female college students in Gyeunggi province. Data were collected from October 10 to November 10, 2017, using self-report questionnaires. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression analysis. PMS was positively correlated with the perceived stress and negatively correlated with ego-resilience. Eating habits, interference with daily life by menstruation, perceived stress accounted for 44.4% of variance in PMS. Based on these results, it is necessary to develop a management program that integrates psychological factors and lifestyle improvement including dietary habits, as well as efforts to manage menstrual symptoms in order to alleviate the premenstrual syndrome of female college students.
