  • As information security(IS) is recognized as an organization's core value, organizations are making efforts to adopt strict IS policies and technologies. However, strict IS policies can cause negative behavior for employees of organizations who need to apply IS to their work. This study confirms that IS can express the role stress of employees, and suggests a way to mitigate the IS role stress. Specifically, we confirm that organization justice and individual social identity can reduce IS role stress, which reduces IS voice behavior. In the study, we surveyed workers of organizations that applied IS policies to their work and obtained 318 samples. Also, we tested the hypothesis by applying the structural equation model. As a result, IS organization justice increased IS voice behavior through social identity and partially reduced IS voice behavior by mitigating IS role stress. In addition, social identity moderated the relationship between IS role stress and IS voice behavior. This study suggests strategies for achieving internal IS goals by suggesting conditions for mitigating IS role stress from an organizational and individual perspective.

  • Socially, organizations are required to maintain strict management of their information resources and invest in the adoption of information security (IS) technologies and policies. However, the ongoing threat of information exposure by employees persists within the organization. This study aims to identify the role stress that employees may experience due to strict IS policies and propose methods for reducing its negative impact. Specifically, our study suggests a mechanism for mitigating role stress by incorporating factors related to IS policy goal setting and work regulatory focus. We conducted a survey among workers in the financial industry, where IS policies are rigorously enforced, and tested our research hypotheses using a sample of 309 participants. The results indicate that increasing the difficulty and specificity of IS policy goals reduces role stress (conflict and ambiguity) and positively influences employees' intention to comply with IS policies. Furthermore, individual work promotion focus moderated the relationship between role stress and IS compliance intention. These findings have important implications for organizations seeking to strengthen their IS compliance among employees and inform the development of effective IS strategies.

  • Soldiers serving in military units and institutions are subject to strict security policies and technologies because they handle sensitive and confidential information related to national security, so they are likely to experience security stress. The purpose of this study is to recognize the need to manage the security stress of military personnel and to suggest management measures. To this end, a literature study was conducted on 12 KCI(Korean Journal Citation Index) journals dealing with security stress. Since 2016, research on security stress has been conducted mainly through empirical analysis through surveys. Studies related to security stress were divided into studies dealing with factors that affect stress, the relationship between security stress and security compliance intentions, and factors that reduce security stress. In particular, it was confirmed that factors such as organizational justice, organizational technical support, and security feedback can alleviate security stress. Next, by applying the results of this literature study to the defense security environment, we presented security stress management measures for military personnel in terms of improving security-related organizational justice awareness, technical support, and security feedback. The significance of this study is that we recognized the need to manage military personnel's security stress and reviewed practical measures related to this.

  • This study analyzed the effects of job stress and sleep disorders on sleepiness during the daytime for a night-shift urban railway crew. As a result of the analysis, measurements on a daytime sleepiness index were higher for the crew than those during other working hours, indicating that the degrees of sleepiness and drowsiness were severe. Afterwards, aromatic essential oils, which are generally known to help relieve sleep disorders and stress, were utilized to verify the effect on stress on night-shift workers. The experimental group treated with aromatherapy was found to show improved stress reduction and overall activity levels in the autonomic nervous system compared to an untreated control group. This study proves that night work by an urban railway crew negatively affects stress levels by increasing stress and negatively affects the autonomous nervous system, also showing that an aromatherapy treatment can be a good alternative to alleviate these conditions. The results of this study are expected to help prevent safety accidents by relieving the stress of nighttime workers.
