  • Recent concept of smart wort which is advanced from that of existing smart work means the task performance method in which we can provide the highest value to our customers by accomplishing the customer-oriented business creatively, innovatively and quickly. New concept of smart work can come through adding multiple intelligence theory and open innovation to social media technologies which have the characteristics of high connectivity, collective intelligence, rapid feedback. In accordance with the evolution of smart work concept, it is necessary to make the plan and strategy on R&D and standardization through the analysis of key technologies in order to realize the advanced smart work and secure a leading position in smart work market. Accordingly, In this paper, we propose standardization tasks and technologies which our country can lead and present a long-term driving directions by analyzing the conceptual change of smart work, technology trends and standardization trends.

  • Along with the fast development of "smart"information technology including smart phones, a concern for increased productivity and better work-life balance is growing faster than ever. In many cases, the expectations for "smart work"remain only superficial at most, and the theoretical foundation for smart work research, much less with clear definitions, is not based on sound research. This article primarily aims to clarify the differences between the concept of telework and that of smart work. Particularly, a research framework for smart work, reflecting the points of differentiation for smart work on the basis of previous telework research framework is suggested. Then, we go further to discuss the limitations of existing telework research to suggest new research agenda for smart work research, and review current smart work policy being executed by the Korean government to suggest directions for the future. We expect to make academic contributions to the advancement of smart work research in the IS research field as well as provide practical insights for local policy planners.

  • With the development of information and communication technology, smart devices, and COVID-19 pandemic, organizations and individuals using Smart Work are increasing. Constant connectivity has become commonplace while using smart devices such as smart phone and tablet PC, and based on this, workers can communicate and exchange data and information anytime, anywhere, resulting in increased job autonomy in determining method, time, and place to work. However, existing Smart Work research has the following limitations: the concept of job autonomy developed in the industrialization era of the 1970s is still used, job autonomy is verified in unidimensionality, and the paradoxical 'tied autonomy' in the context of Smart Work is not demonstrated. In order to overcome these limitations, this study examined the literature that demonstrated job autonomy in a Smart Work situation. Through literature research, this study suggested how previous studies have dealt with job autonomy in Smart Work context, how to develop the type of autonomy according to the Smart Work situation, and directions for future empirical research.

  • This research suggests the effective countermeasures for the security threats on 'Smart Work 2.0'. It is important to discuss the Smart Work 2.0 security issues and threats at the point of evolving form Smart Work 1.0 into 2.0. In this research, first, the security issues, threats and countermeasures of telecommunication working, mobile office and smart work center are discussed. Second, we explore the security issues derived from co-working or creativity as major concepts of Smart Work 2.0.

  • Due to COVID-19, organizations are rapidly changing the way they work by providing telecommuting and flexible work, and by expanding Smart Work spaces. In a Smart Work situation, workers have improved their job autonomy to choose their work methods, hours, and places. However, previous studies do not reflect the Smart Work situation and there are limitations to still using the previous job autonomy concept and measurements. To overcome these problems, this study derived job autonomy types such as methods, scheduling, criteria, time, and place applicable to Smart Work environments and verified that the five types of job autonomy have a statistically significant positive effect on Smart Workers' creative behavior. This study is meaningful in that it categorized job autonomy into five types applicable to Smart Work by adding temporal and spatial flexibility to the traditional job autonomy concept such as method, scheduling, and criteria autonomy and provided the basis for subdividing and evaluating the operation performance of Smart Work through multi-dimensional job autonomy verification.

  • Nowadays, the needs for linking smart devices are growing fast because of wide spread of smart devices such as smart TV, smart phones, smart pad and so on. This paper presents a game framework for linking smart TV and smart phones and proves its applicability by developing an example contents. The problem of connection between smart devices is basically a problem of connection between heterogeneous devices. The problem is that data transmission and reception between heterogeneous devices must be considered. Therefore, the core data is implemented by adopting the concept of cloud computing and storing it in a server, and in a smart TV, playing the game by using this data. The proposed framework could be applied to a lot of applications such as computer games.

  • The interests in alternative office systems and solutions (called smart work in Korea) are growing. With the lens of boundary theory, this paper tries to understand the nature of work/nonwork boundaries which smart work will be expected to blur. Boundary theory provides permeability, boundary strength, and interference as its key concepts and an empirical study is performed about the individual perception on those concepts. The result of the survey from telecommuters and/or smart work center users at the Company K shows that they perceive work/nonwork permeability, boundary strength, and interference are asymmetric. The result suggests that asymmetric nature of the work/nonwork boundaries should be taken into account when alternative office systems are brought into use.
