멀티미디어 콘텐츠의 트랜스코딩은 디스플레이 사이즈, 컴퓨팅 자원, 네트워크 대역폭이나 QoS 같은 네트워크자원 등 사용자 터미널의 수용 능력의 관점에서 수행되어 왔다. 오디오비주얼 콘텐츠의 리사이징이나 프레임 드로핑과 같은 제약을 주어 비트 율을 줄여줌으로써 사용자의 터미널 환경에 맞도록 변환시키는 것이 일반적인 트랜스코딩 방법이었다. 이러한 사용자의 환경에 따른 전통적인 방법 외에, 사용자 선호도에 기반 하여 멀티미디어 콘텐츠에서 사용자의 관심 영역(Region Of Interest)을 중심으로 트랜스코딩 하는 의미적인 코딩(segment transcoding)방법을 제안하였다. MPEG-21 DIA 프레임워크 하에서 사용자의 관심 영역을 표현한 의미 정보가 XDI(context Digital Item)형식으로 콘텐츠 제공자에게 전달되고 리소스 적응엔진을 통해 적응 변환된 콘텐츠는 다시 사용자에게 전달된다. 본 논문에서는 사용자의 관심영역 기반 오디오 비주얼 콘텐츠의 의미론적 트랜스코딩 기술을 제안하고 적응 변환의 실험 결과를 설명한다.

This is a study about the audience's aspect of decoding the photography and words comprising photojournalism. For this study, the way of audience's decoding five pictures depicting a foreign worker's death and the captions for each were analyzed. Ethnographic method was used to find distinctive features of the audiences in decoding the pictures. Picture images without any title and caption shown to audiences bring quite different decodings from those of picture images titled and captioned. This led to the following three conclusions. First, picture image added by caption transforms the way the audience decode. Second, the cultural background of an audience works as a major variable, which means how the audience decode the picture image depends on what sort of cultural background the audience has. Third, it is also learned that picture image not captioned would not be able to represent the reality faithfully. The author made an experimental trial in this thesis how the communication process works successfully in a reality that photojournalists tried to represent and the way the audience decode it for the successful communication in photojournalism.

This paper describes a feature extraction process by using a multi-layer neural network and is applied to the Korean stroke pattern for on line hand written character recognition, In the first layer the features are detected during the writing process and in the second layer the stroke specific features are extracted. A modified Masking field algorithm for direction co9nstancy has been used in this neural network and the resulting action potential of stroke specific features represents statistical distribution of the features in the on-line input stroke pattern and these results can be used in the recognition of on-line hand written Korean characters successfully.

In general, film acting refers to American method or Hollywood method. Hollywood method is a term to denominate collectively actors from Group Theatre of Lee Strasberg which accepted Russian Stanislavski's system as American acting. We can find out the origins of Korean acting in the attitude of actors who imitate Hollywood. Hollywood method, which seem to be more systematic and rational in the previous Sin-pa, has begun to be accepted in the fields of actors, directors, critics, and educators. The perception of Hollywood method in Korea is part of the search for the identity of Korean film acting. This article approaches from the perspective of four fields. First, it is Korean actors' perceptions about Hollywood methods. Second, I examine the attitude of the direction of staff and technical aesthetics regarding Hollywood method. Third, it is evaluation aspect in criticism area. Fourth, it is an aspect of education.

This study examined high school students' acceptance of evolutionary theory, evolutionary knowledge, and epistemological belief. The Christian and non-Christian students' acceptance of evolutionary theory and evolution content knowledge were compared in relation to their 'scientific epistemological views' (domain-specific) and 'evolution in relation to nature of science' (context-specific). The Christian students' evolutionary knowledge was most predicted by the theory-laden exploration of science, while the non-Christian students' scores on evolutionary knowledge were most predicted by the scientific epistemological views. In addition, the Christian students' scores on scientific epistemological views and evolution in relation to evolution were not significantly related to each other, while the non-Christian students' scores on both variables were significantly related. Furthermore, 'evolution in relation to nature of science' is the strongest predictor of both Christian and non-Christian students' acceptance of evolution.

This paper tries to study theoretical transformation about modernity by analyzing changes of the concepts of Gaining Knowledge of the Study of Things(格物致知). Gaining Knowledge of the Study of Things(格物致知) was the main concept to explain the thought of Neo-Confucianism(性理學). But in the Modern era Gaining Knowledge of the Study of Things(格物致知) was understood as the meaning of Science. In Neo-Confucianism(性理學) Gaining Knowledge of the Study of Things(格物致知) was closely related to the side of human duty and the moral value judgement. But in the modern meaning Gaining Knowledge of the Study of Things(格物致知: Science) was focused to scientific study of the objective matter. So the Science on Gaining Knowledge of the Study of Things(格物致知學) effect to breakup the thinking of Neo-Confucianism(性理學).

환경보건정책의 영역은 대기, 수질 등 환경매체에 배출된 오염물질이 수용체인 인간에 도달하여 건강피해를 야기하는 일련의 과정을 규명하여 예방 관리하는 폭넓은 범위를 차지하고 있다. 환경보건정책은 다른 매체별 환경정책에 비해 뒤늦게 출발하였지만 깨끗하고 안전한 환경을 보전하여 국민의 건강을 보호하기 위해서는 앞으로도 환경보건정책에 대한 지속적인 관심과 투자가 필요하다.

This paper deals with the questions: Are media user's activities labour? Or rent? These questions have provoked a debate in the critical media studies and Marx's theory. But it is not a matter of choosing either labour or rent. Even if user's activities could contribute to valorization, it needs some mediating process. Media Platforms-Google, Facebook, etc.-play a key role, and have to employ other forms of labour. Labour in media platform produces some capital commodities. In view of media platform, Smythe's audience commodity can be considered as capital commodity. Assertion in this paper expected to provoke new debate on media platforms and its labourer.

The Network Centric Warfare(NCW) is based on the linkage of forces by network to employ them as they are centralized, even though they are scattered. Also it can be used to overcome spatiotemporal obstacles. Under the concept of NCW, cognitive and social areas are getting more weight than information technology and physical ones. In this study we tried to investigate the affecting factors to execute NCW effectively by user's point of view to place the focus on cognitive and social aspects. We obtained some affirmative results that affect to conduct NCW in Korea. The advanced western NCW can be applicable in theoretically in Korea, however to employ NCW more effectively we need Korean style NCW which portrays the Korean realities and circumstances.
