We conducted a study to access the effectiveness of glove and washing hands for the prevention of microbial contamination during the dental clinical practice. Microbial numbers at unwashed hands and gloves were $9.938{\time}10^3(CFU)/ml$, those at washed with soap were $9.44{\time}10^3CFU/ml$ And those at washed with a typical liquid soap including disinfectant, Dettol (Reckitt Benckiser, Slough, SL1 3UH, UK) were $6.58{\time}10^2CFU/ml$. In case of unwashed hand and hand washing with soap had similar microbial numbers and in case of hand washing with Dettol showed a rapid decrease of microbial number. Hand washing with Dettol was effective to prevent microbial contamination than hand washing with soap. Also microbial numbers in all case wearing gloves decreased. It showed effectiveness of gloves for prevention of microbial contamination. In addition to microbial numbers showed a tendency to increase from 3 hours on wearing gloves, the change of new gloves after 3 hours on wearing is necessary to minimize the danger of microbial contamination.
This study undertook initial investigations into the carbonation of chlorine bypass dust, aiming to apply it as a raw material for cement and as an admixture for concrete. Various experimental methods, including XRD(X-ray diffraction), XRF(X-ray fluorescence), and particle size distribution analyses, were employed to verify the physical and chemical properties of chlorine bypass dust, with and without water washing. The mineral carbonation extent of chlorine bypass dust was examined by considering the dust type, stirring temperature, and experiment duration. Notably, a higher degree of mineral carbonation was observed in water-washed bypass dust than its non-water-washed counterpart, indicating an elevated calcium content in the former. Furthermore, an augmented stirring temperature positively impacted the initial stages of mineral carbonation. However, divergent outcomes were observed over time, contingent upon the specific characteristics of dust types under consideration.
This reserch was focused upon experimental study for wastewater reuse and conducted to evaluate optimum operating conditions of rapid filtration process such as filter flow rate, filtration time and backwashing condition for reuse of secondary-treated effluent using the pilot plant installed in real wastewater treatment plant. Also, the experiment on treatment char-acteristics of coagulant-added activated sludge process was performed to compare with activated sludge succeeded to rapid filtration. As the filtration velocity was 100m/day, the filtration time of the rapid filter connected with activated sludge system was revealed to 40 hours. Backwashing of filter was conducted by water wash and air scour. The optimum backwashing time and backwash flow rate were 10min and 10LPM, respectively. The quantity of backwashing water of the rapid filter was about 2% of total treated water.
In this study, an attempt was made to obtain the optimum setting condition of frozen mackerel surimi prepared from alkaline washing under atmospheric, 660 and 560 mmHg pressure. Mackerel surimi were incubated at 15, 25, 35 and $45^{\circ}C$ for 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 hr, respectively, followed by heating at $90^{\circ}C$ for 25 min to be cooked gel. The qualities of surimi gels were examined by analyzing the transglutaminase (TGase) activity, gel strength and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). For the preparation of mackerel surimi gel, optimum condition of setting was incubation at $35^{\circ}C$ for 6 hr.
This study was conducted to investigate the effects of electrolyzed water (EW) and hot-air-drying with ultraviolet light (UV) to reduce coliform bacteria of Undaria pinnatifida (UP). The UP was washed in the order of 15% EW, tap water (TW), and distilled water (DW) under following conditions: 15% EW for 10 min (washing: 1 time), TW for 1 min, and DW for 10 min (washing: 5 times). Viable cells, coliform, and mold counts were at 102-103 CFU/g in untreated samples. After EW treatment, viable cells, coliform, and molds were not detected in whole samples or on the surface of UP. But, after hot-air-drying at 48°C for 48 h, the number of viable cells, coliform, and molds were 101-105 CFU/g. After hot-air-drying at 48°C for 48 h with UV (12-48 h), viable cells, coliform, and molds were not detected in whole samples or on the surface of UP. In respect of color value, there were no significant changes. In sensory evaluation, the UP with hot-air-drying with UV (12 h) had the highest score in overall preference among UV treatment groups. These results suggest that the treatments at 15% EW for 10 min and hot-air-drying at 48°C for 48 h with UV (12 h) were effective to reduce coliform bacteria of the dried Undaria pinnatifida.
The aim of present study in vitro was to evaluate and compare the effects of different washing times of enamels etched with low phosphoric acid solution which makes unsoluble salts and etched but contaminated with saliva on shear bond strength of an orthodontic adhesive to enamel, and to observe the washing effect on the etched enamel surface by scanning electron microscope. All brackets were bonded with Mono-$Lok2^{TM)}$) on the labial surface of extracted human bicuspids after etching with $20w/w\%\;and\;37w/w$ and phosphoric acid solution for 60seconds and then washing for 0,5,10 and 20seconds respectedly. After etching with $37w/w\%$ phosphoric acid solution and contaminating with saliva for 30seconds and then washing for 0,5,20 and 30seconds and re-etching for 10seconds. After 24hours passed in the $37^{\circ}C$ water bath, the shear bond strengths were measured on Universal Test Machine. The data were evaluated and tested by ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test, and those results were as follows. 1. There was no significant differences between (p>0.05) shear bond strength of bonded brackets with 5, 10, 20seconds washing etched enamel using $37{\%}w/w{\%}$ phosphoric acid solution. 2. The shear bond strength of bonded brackets with $20w/w\%$ phosphoric acid and then washing for 5seconds showed bonded strength durable to occlusal force but its coefficiency score was high and etched surface was not cleaned completely and therefore it was assumed that its clinical application is not applicable. 3. There was no significant differences between (p>0.05) shear bond strengths of bonded brckets with washing for 5seconds etched enamel using $37w/w\%$ phosphoric acid solution and 10,20 seconds washing etched enamel using $20w/w\%$ phosphoric acid solution. 4. The shear bond strength of washing for 5seconds etched enamel which was contaminated with saliva showed sufficient bonded strength durable to occlusal force but its coefficiency score was high and therefore its clinical application was not applicable. 5. After etching, the sample contaminated with saliva showed the sufficient shear bond strength even washing 20seconds without re-etching.

This research is to investigate the changes in Mercury content of fishes, washed with times by the flowing water or immersed into the acetic acid solutions with different densities (1%, 3% and 5%), after contaminating them artificially on purpose, in the solutions with inorganic mercury. The results were summarized as follow: 1. Average values of mercury content in sand-fish and sardine, as a dried ones, which had not been treated by the mercurial solutions, were 0.027 ppm and 0.020 ppm, respectively. 2. According to the changes, with times, in contained by the flowing water, after immersed into 1 ppm $HgCl_2$ solution for 24 hours, The sand-fish washed for 9 minutes had the least of Mercury, which is about 25% of contained quantity of Mercury of those not cleansed. While the sardines cleansed for 3 minutes had the least of Mercury, which is about 77% of contained quantity of Mercury of those not cleansed. 3. According to the changes in contained quantity of the samples treated by the acetic acid solutions with different densities, the sand-fish treated by 3% acetic acid solution had the least value of remains, which was reduced by 64%, in comparision with that of fish cleansed for 1 minute, while the sardines, treated by 1% acetic acid solution had the least amount of remains, which was reduced by 16% in comparision with that of fish, cleansed for 1 minute.
The purpose of this study was to get reflections on teaching numbers and operations for special education from analyzing lessons for counting, addition and subtraction of natural number with counting board for students with autism. These experiments were conducted to evaluate the variability of seed germination, and seedling growth of PEG priming barley. The average germination percentage(AGP) of PEG priming seed was higher than control, but those were low with extend the treatment period. The AGP of washing seed after PEG priming was higher than unwashed seed, and that of redried seed after priming was lower than control. The germination time of priming seed was short compare to control seed, and that was prolonged with extend the priming period, and that of washing seed after priming was shortening, and that of redried seed after priming was prolonging. The emergence percentage(EP) of priming seed was higher than control, and the emergence time was shortest in 50% field moisture capacity soil. The seedling and root length of priming seed was shorter than control.
This study was carried out to estimate the change of Hg content in contaminated food materials including rice grain, soybean sprouts and crucian carp during their washing and cooking processes. The residue level of Hg in contaminated rice at 1 ppm level was decreased to the extent of 24% by three-times washing whereas it was not decreased in cooking. The removal efficiency of Hg in soybean sprouts contaminated at 80 ppm level was about 26% in three-times washing. While the Hg content was not decreased in blanching or cooking of soybean sprouts as a whole, the extent of leached Hg into the fluid part varied in the range of 23-41% depending on the heating time, salinity and volume of cooking water. While the Hg content in fish contaminated at 1 ppm level was not decreased in cooking as a whole, the leaching ratio of Hg into the fluid part was in the range of 2-10% depending on the salinity of cooking water. Disposal of inedible portion in cooked fish could remove 32% of contaminated Hg residue.
