  • Low temperature co-fired ceramics on metal (LTCC-M) is efficient for embedding passive components with good tolerance in a module due to the dimensional stability in x and y directions by the constraint of metal core during the firing. In addition, the radiation noise can be reduced by metal core. In this paper, embedded passive components were introduced and a power amplifier module (PAM) fabricated by using the passive components was explained. The embedded passive components in test patters showed the tolerance of 10~20% and the good repeatability in tolerance of embedded passives was maintained in module fabrication. The shortened traces in multi chip modules (MCMs) make the signal delay time decreased and the embedded passives simplify the packaging processes owing to the less solder points, which enhance the electrical performance and increase the reliability of the modules. The LTCC-M technology is one of the promising candidates for RF application and is expected to expand its applications to power and high performance devices.

  • This work investigates the effects of vibration on the passive intermodulation distortion characteristics of base station antennas for 800 MHz CDMA mobile communication systems. In general, base station antennas are located at high positions such as on building rooftops or iron towers. Thus the antennas are always affected by random vibrations, coming from various natural environmental factors such as rain and wind, or from living environmental factors such as vehicles and trains passing by. The measured intermodulation distortion characteristics before and after vibration accelerated degradation test show that vibrations are indeed the main cause for the intermodulation distortion performances of such antennas. To minimize the effects of vibrations, a new antenna design isptoposed that has an improved tolerance for vibrations. Experimental results show that the proposed antenna design dramatically reduces the degradation of the intermodulation distortion more than 35 dB.

  • In 1981. KOREA applied YEAR OF WORLD DISABLED DESIGNNATED BY UN as starting point to begin noticing disabled and gradually improve and understand the problems of the disabled. This study considering the income level and welfare level selected basic most widely used wheelchair as subject of study. Design Application of this study's main analysis are as follolVs 1. MAN-MACHINE INTERFACE STUDY ANALYSIS!Basic concept of wheelchair is for persons uncapable of move by sitting down. so main focus of study was considered on equipment which on chair. 2. WHEELCHAm MOVEMENT STUDY ANALYSISlThrough movement and test measurement which can be considered as basic study of Ergonomics, observe movement changes accordingly. 3. BACK(MAIN) WHEEL AND HANDRIM MOVEMENT ANALYSIS / Seat and wheel as the most important component of a wheelchair, study the relation of handrim and hand movement and test the most effective and comfortable handrim. Direction of the study was concerntrated on three areas, with results and information collected, would like to suggest design change of X type collapsible chair in areas of size of SEAT(air pocket type), HANDRIM(anti-slip hump), ARMHEST(transfer movement, rubber padding. accent), and HANDLE(adjustable, round type). The content started this study is only one small position of understanding the disabled. Also, the importance of one of many business of assisting disabled rehabilitation. (IJISABLED, REHABILITATION. • Combustion Instabilities are caused by a coupling between acoustic waves and unsteady heat release. They can be eliminated using passive controller such as a Helmholtz resonator. But, Helmholtz resonator is normally only effective over a narrow frequency range. In this work, Helmholtz resonator is applied for reducing the combustion oscillations and we vary the Helmholtz resonator volume using piston in oder to tune in the wide range of operating conditions. As the result, it is found that the dominant combustion oscillations can be largely reduced by optimizing the size of resonator volume. And, interesting relation for phase difference of dynamic pressure both combustor and the helmholtz resonator are presented in this paper. Also, we investigate semi-active control using Helmholtz equation and phase difference.

  • Fire extinguisher, which is cost effective and easily accessible, is a very effective way of fire suppression. To keep its initial performance it needs periodical inspection and appropriate maintenance. However, many fire extinguishers of which the powder is incompletely coated deteriorates due to the moisture and leak of charge pressure after several years. Accordingly inappropriate powder replacement and pressurization has widely been doing by unqualified persons. Also, the absence of lifetime for fire extinguisher made people keep old bad fire extinguisher without precise inspection. This study specified those issues through case studies and suggested some ways for the systematic improvement.

  • An in-hole seismic method, which has been developed for measuring dynamic properties of subsurface materials, was improved in terms of cost effectiveness and practicality. The upgraded features include the motorized triggering system rather than the manual prototype version in the previous studies and a connecting rod between source and receiver in the module. The probe, thus, can be used for the field measurements of soil properties as well as those of rocks. The performance of the probe has been evaluated through extensive cross-hole tests and in-hole tests at various sites.

  • The ranging systems measure range data in three-dimensional coordinate from target surface. These non-contact remote ranging systems is widely used in various automation applications, including military equipment, construction field, navigation, inspection, assembly, and robot vision. The active ranging systems using time of flight technique or light pattern illumination technique are complex and expensive, the passive systems based on stereo or focusing principle are time-consuming. The proposed algorithm, that is based on cross correlation of projection profile of vertical edge, provides advantages of fast and simple operation in the range acquisition. The results of experiment show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • The power control system of Smart UAV is similar to the propeller pitch governing concept of turboprop aircraft. The pilot inputs the engine power directly and the pitch governor controls the propeller pitch to maintain the propeller RPM. The manual back-up system of PW206C engine is used for the engine power control of Smart UAV. Engine performance estimation program is used to predict the control range of power lever arm(PLA) angle according to the variation of flight altitude and speed. These data provide a guide for the engine control in manual mode operation.

  • In this paper, We proposed electronic ballast that applys Buck Converter operation principle to Full-Bridge inverter. The proposed ballast consists of an EMI Filter, a full-bridge rectifier, a passive power factor correction (PFC) circuit and a full-bridge inverter. The passive PFC is used and a Full-Bridge inverter operation by two frequency. High Side and Low Side switch was driven by high frequency and low frequency and realized buck Converter's operation. The lamp is driven by Low Frequency square wave to avoid Acoustic Resonance. Also, bulk of inductor is reduced by high frequency switching. Performance of the proposed ballast was validated through computer simulation using Pspice, experimentation and by applying it to an electronic ballast for a prototype 700W MHL.
