Bio-methane production for city gas by membrane separation of digestion gas (소화가스의 막 분리 정제에 의한 도시가스용 바이오메탄 생산)

  • Research was conducted on the production of bio-methane for city gas, from food waste digestion gas using two membrane-separation methods(4SBR and 3SDR) in a commercial plant. A purity of 98.9% can be obtained using either method. The recovery rate of methane from the digestion gas was 88.1% for 4SBR and 79.4% for 3SDR. the ratios of bio-methane production to treated digestion gas were 53.5% for 4SBR and 49.4% for 3SDR. However, the 4SBR method had a higher ratio of returned gas(56.5%), approximately twice that of 3SDR, making 3SDR the more desirable method in terms of maximum treat capacity. Therefore, 4SBR seems more economical when the digestion gas to be treated is less than 200 N㎥/day, while 3SDR is more suited to treat gas volumes of more than 240 N㎥/day. The relative deviation of each operation index, compared to mean values, was generally greater for the 4SBR method. Additionally, the correlation coefficients between major system indexes, such as bio-methane production and bio-methane draw out pressure(which is the main control measure of membrane facility) showed that these indexes are more closely related in the 3SDR method.

  • The most important thing for NOVEC gas fire extinguishing equipment is to release NOVEC gas, which contained in the extinguishing container, to the safety section by the time appointed. For this matter, it is significant to decide arrangement and size of the proper piping equipment. This study has developed the design methodology of NOVEC gas fire extinguishing equipment in use of pipe network analysis techniques. Based on the design methodology, each design coefficient is chosen. It is found that the calculated result, which is 6.498 seconds, has been counted within the 10 seconds limit, which is fairly satisfied with extinguishing releasing time based on the developed methodology. At that time, the pressure loss is 21.09bar.

  • The largest problem of domestic anaerobic digestion is low digestion efficiency. Reasons of the problem would be low organic matters input, low mixing efficiency in digestion tank, refractory excess sludge etc.. In this study, screw attached disk-type concentration system and a mechanical mixing system, solubilization facility improvements were performed to solve problems. Through these improvements, the sludge conc. of the concentrator increased 2.6-fold and the volume reduction efficiency was increased 3.0-fold. In addition, the dead-space is reduced by mechanical agitation. Anaerobic digester gas production in the digestion tank is increased from $193.8m^3$ to $386.0m^3$ per day. Digestion efficiency is improved to 54.6% from 47.6%. Digestion gas production is increased from $0.30Nm^3/kg$ VS to $0.42Nm^3/kg$ VS.

  • The anaerobic digestion of food waste effluent through single- and two-phase process was estimated and compared in this study. The treatment efficiencies for total solid(TS), volatile solid(VS), tCOD(total COD) and sCOD(soluble COD) were invariably higher in the single-phase process, which was accounted for by the fact that the treatment efficiency of organic wastes usually showed an inverse relationship with organic loading rate in the anaerobic digestion. In fact, the organic loading rate was lower for single-phase process. The concentration of tCOD were significantly lower in two-phase process but much more biogas was produced, compared to single-phase anaerobic digestion process, which might be explained partly by the relatively higher stability of two-phase process resulting from the separation of acid phase from methane phase.

  • 화력발전 분야에서 $CO_2$ 분리는 크게 연소전 탈탄소화(pre-combustion capture)와 연소후 포획(post-combustion capture)으로 나누어진다, 연소후 포획은 연료를 연소한 후 발생하는 $CO_2$$N_2$가스에서 $CO_2$를 분리하는 기술로 흡수나, 흡착, 막분리 등을 주로 이용한다, 연소전 탈탄소화는 연소 전에 $CO_2$가 발생되지 않도록 하는 기술로써, 부분 산화나 개질 및 수성가스 변위반응 등이 포함되며 생성된 $H_2$$CO_2$를 분리하여 수소를 생산하는 기술($CO_2/H_2$분리가 핵심)이다. 우리나라는 대부분 연소후 포획 위주로 많은 연구가 진행되어 왔다, 하지만 최근 고유가 시장이 형성되면서 석탄화력 발전 및 복합가스발전(IGCC)에 필요한 연소전 탈탄소화($H_2/CO_2$ 가스로부터 $CO_2$ 회수) 연구에 산업적 관심이 급상승되고 있다. 특히, 연소전 탈탄소화 과정에서는 높은 자체압력(약 2.5 - 5.0MPa)과 비교적 높은 농도의 $CO_2$(약 40%의)가 발생되기 때문에, 연소전 탈탄소화는 가스하이드레이트 형성/분해 원리가 가장 잘 적용될 수 있는 기술이라 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 가스 하이드레이트 형성원리를 이용하여 정온 정압 조건에서 $CO_2/H_2$ 하이드레이트를 제조하였으며 특히, 하이드레이트 형성 촉진제인 THF(Tetrahydrofuran)와 TBAB(Tetra-n-butyl ammonium bromide)를 첨가하여 각각 0.5, 1, 3mol% 농도에 따른 상평형 및 속도론 실험을 수행 하였다. 또한 라만 분석을 통하여 $CO_2$ 회수 분리에 대한 연구도 병행하였다. 이러한 연구는 연소전 탈탄소화 기술에서의 $CO_2$ 회수 분리에 대한 핵심 연구임과 동시에 탄소배출권 규제에 실질적인 기여를 할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

Flame Extinguishing Concentrations of Mixed Gaseous Agents (가스계 혼합소화약제의 불꽃소화농도)

  • Fire extinguishing efficiency of mixed gaseous agents were investigated by the cup-burner test and predicting by the model of flame extinguishing concentration. The binary mixed agents that tested were carbon dioxide/HFC-23, carbon dioxide/HCFC-22, carbon dioxide/HFC-227ea, carbon dioxide/HFC-125, carbon dioxide/FIC-13I1, Hexafluoropropylene/HFC-23 and ternary mixed agents were carbon dioxide/HFC-23/HFC-l34a, carbon dioxide/HFC-23/HFC-227ea, carbon dioxide/HFC-23/HFC-125. A model which contains the flame extinguishing concentration and composition of pure components predicted the flame extinguishing concentration of mixture well. This model was superior when each component of the mixture exhibit physical fire extinguishing performance.

  • The conventional fire extinguishing gas-agent system has a configuration in which the gas-agent comes out of a cylindrical container having vertically settled shape. However, in this study a horizontally installed container of a piping shape having a cylinder of the same shape with a cylinder valve and a discharge nozzle was used, and the relationship between orifice size of nozzle and discharge rate of gas-agent was investigated through various experiments including the measurement of discharge rate under different ambient-temperature conditions. In such experiments, HCFC Blend A was used without super-pressurization by nitrogen. From this research, it was observed that statutory discharge duration of 10 seconds can be met if the relatively large size of the valve and the nozzle orifice were properly selected.
