The purpose of this paper is to find out the nature of language variation by exploring the ways of the progress of the language variation that produces all English-lects, i.e., the World Englishes. The study of language variation in linguistics is a hybrid enterprise, so the study of World Englishes has led to the recognition of a highly diverse set of all English-lects, encompassing regional dialects, sociolects, ethnolects and (post-)colonial dialects of World Englishes. In this paper, we propose a hybrid language variation model with three interacting factors of social distancing, on/off-contact, and linguistic diversity to examine the characteristics of language variation. In the context of World Englishes, the social distance is typically low in terms of their local location (country/speech) for local purposes. The social distance also varies based on online/offline communication modes and other social factors like gender, age and ethnic groups, resulting in all English-lects. To clarify the nature of World Englishes, the core Englishes, BrE, AmE and CanE are discussed here.

Background: 'Here and now' in the 21st century, what should we be thinking about in this situation where infectious diseases like COVID-19 are penetrating deeply into our lives? At this point, this study aims to present the concept of 'Healing Humanities.' Purposes: If the Humanities as a liberal arts education have emphasized the value of 'communication and convergence,' putting it up as the slogan until now, the Humanities now should seek practical ways to realize their potentials. Methods: The research method was discussed centering on the literature. Results: This discussion centers around the medieval jewelry therapy by Hildegard von Bingen. That is, this study discusses how Hildegard presented gem therapy treatment as a pioneer in the jewelry therapy. Conclusions: It is meaningful that human health and diseases, which are focused on medical technology today, can now serve as a way of humanities practice, and that Hildegart's jewelry treatment can be triggered by a breakthrough. In that sense, this study aims to reveal the legitimacy of Hildegard's treatment to be secured as the Healing Humanities.

With the increase of double-income families, parents are not free in terms of time and space in communicating with teachers. Also for teachers, with many students and heavy load of work, communication with parents has been poor. As a means for overcoming this kind of situation, this research examined the current status of communication between teachers and parents using SMS and problems to solve. The investigation of the actual conditions of SMS use showed that there was a high number of answers pointing out that SMS is needed for the exchange of information regarding children and educational activities, and teachers pointed out that the communication was effective for exchanging educational information regarding children whereas parents pointed out that it was effective in improving the children's attitudes. Based on the results of the analysis, the following was found as tasks to be solved: preparing a plan for revitalizing SMS use, solving the burden that parents have in communicating with teachers, becoming more friendly with teachers, investigation of the reason why there is no response regarding SMS and preparing countermeasures, providing information appropriate to what parents want, increasing the reply rate of parents, expansion of text capacity, and trouble with getting online with a computer.

The purpose of this study is to verify whether the concept of time conveys meanings similar to nonverbal communicative elements in foreign language education. This study surveys cultural traits of time from the French cultural education perspective. Anthropologist Edward T. Hall points out that each cultural community has developed a different perception of time and experience, and that time conveys the meaningful message nonverbally similar to the nonverbal elements such as space, gesture, eye movement, and facial expression. I investigated the time experiences of a drinking party in France and in Korea, from a cultural relativistic point of view. The subject of a drinking party was chosen on the ground that a drinking party is highly related to most people's daily lives and it also indicates how they have a relationship with others. I sought a new direction in foreign language cultural education by analyzing how cultural differences between the two communities, especially the relationships between individuals and organisations, ways to separate leisure and labor, and the nonverbal elements, are presented in the two drinking parties.

Purpose: This is a descriptive survey study for identifying the factors affecting the communication skills of nursing students in the current situation where non-face-to-face culture becomes commonplace due to the COVID-19. Methods: The data was collected from June 1-30, 2022, targeting total 160 nursing students(3rd/4th year) of three universities in Daejeon and Chungnam. Using the IBM SPSS/Win 25.0, the collected data was analyzed through the descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analysis. Results: In the results, the communication skills showed positive correlations with the acceptance of others (r=.32, p<.001), positive emotions in friendship (r=.44, p<.001), and empathy (r=.38, p<.001), and these variables explained total 32.0% of communication skills. Conclusion: Based on such results, it would be necessary to develop various extracurricular programs and also to establish the application measures for maintaining positive friendships and enhancing empathy.

In this study, the effect of communication with a guardian of a recipient of a Long-term Care Program on job satisfaction of care helpers of in-home care facilities for the elderly is analyzed. First, most of the care helpers are content with their job despite low pay and short work-hour. Especially, they are aware of the need of communication with a guardian but skeptical about the need of having intimacy with a guardian, so the relation between a care helper and a guardian is usually formal only. Second, in terms of characteristics of a guardian, care helpers have higher job satisfaction when a guardian is a male and old, and does not have an unreasonable demand. Third, they have higher job satisfaction when they have better communicate with a guardian rather than higher intimacy. Considering this result, we should make programs such as education for a guardian to develop intimacy with a care helper and one for a care helper to develop intimacy and communicate effectively with a guardian. It is also needed to have guidelines which set up relationship between a helper and a guardian.

VTS 업무와 관련 관제교신이 차지하는 비중이 높음에도 불구하고 그동안 관제교신의 효율향상 필요성은 대원칙(간단 명료 정확) 개념 이상의 구체적 논의나 연구대상이 되지 못하였다. 본 연구에서는 관제교신의 잘못으로 인한 관제업무의 효율저하 및 이로 인한 사고 위험성을 살펴보고, 관제교신의 실패 원인을 현장 중심으로 검토하였다. 교신 분석을 통해서 개선방안을 찾아보고 교신업무 요령 또는 지침 마련의 필요성을 제안하였다.

최근 비대면 원격강의의 비율이 증가하였지만 비대면 상황에서 원격으로 진행하는 강의로 인해 강의를 수강하는 학생들의 강의를 진행하는 교수와의 질문에 대한 즉각적인 상호작용과 피드백이 부족하고 교수 또한 비대면 상황에서 학생들과의 소통의 어려움으로 인해 질문에 대한 답변을 하는 것에 어려움 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 학생들에게 질문에 대한 즉각적인 답변을 해주고 교수에게는 질문-답변을 관리할 수 있는 인공지능 챗봇 웹 서비스를 제안한다. 웹 서비스는 강의를 수강하는 학생과 강의를 진행하는 교수로 나눠져 제공된다. 구현을 위해 Seq2Seq 모델을 활용하였고 질문-답변 데이터셋으로 학습을 하여 테스트 하였다.

Research of this paper focused on developing and demonstrating of algorithm with the figures of difference between historical traffic pattern data and real-time traffic data to decide on what the incident is. The aim of this dissertation is to develop incident detection algorithm which can be understood and modified easier to operate. To establish traffic pattern of this algorithm, weighted moving average method was applied. The basis of this method was traffic volume and speed of the same day and time at the same location based on 30-second raw data. The model was completed by a serious of steps of process-screening process of error data, decision of the traffic condition, comparison with pattern data, decision of incident circumstances, continuity test. A variety of parameter value was applied to select reasonable parameter. Results of application of the algorithm came out with figures of average detection rate 94.7 percent, 0.8 percent rate of misinformation and the average detection time 1.6 minutes. With these following results, the detection rate turned out to be superior compared with result of existing model. Applying the concept of traffic patterns was useful to gain excellent results of this study. Also, this study is significant in terms of making algorithm which theorized the decision process of actual operators.

The ever-evolving Internet environment along with changes in the mass media has been creating a new way of communicating in the virtual cyber world. The Internet users have more services at their disposal to communicate with ease. Such a new way of communication styles, however, makes them vulnerable to personal information leakage, increasing the concerns of cyber security. A thorny issue is how we can control the disclosure of personal information. Lately, the Korean government implemented privacy policies to resolve and prevent personal information leakage incidents that incur social problems. Here, we seek to identify problems in the privacy policies for better solutions.
