Q 방법론의 이해와 소비자 연구에의 적용

  • Q 방법은 인간의 태도와 행동을 연구하기 위해 철학적, 심리학적, 통계적, 그리고 심리측정과 관련된 개념을 통합한 방법론으로서 인간의 주관성을 정량적으로 분석할 수 있는 특수한 통계기법이다. 소비자의 인식, 가치, 태도, 신념과 같은 개념을 객관적으로 연구할 수 있는 방법으로서 가설 생성을 위한 탐색적 연구와 이론의 검증과 같은 확인적 연구에서도 적용될 수 있다. 많은 수의 표본을 대상으로 한 횡단적 R 방법에 비하여 개인이나 소집단에 대한 깊이 있는 탐구가 가능하다는 점에서 소비자 행동 연구에 유용성이 매우 높다. 개인의 주관성을 바탕으로 한 소비자 개인의 특성과 차별성을 이해하는 것이 마케팅 분야의 핵심을 이루고 있음에도 불구하고 그 동안 소비자의 주관성에 대한 깊이 있는 접근이 이루어지지 못하였다. 1935년에 심리학 분야에서 개발된 Q방법은 이를 분석할 수 있는 컴퓨터 패키지의 보급과 더불어 사회과학 전반에 걸쳐 그 활용이 확산되어 가고 있다. 이에 Q 방법의 과학철학적 특성과, 현재 널리 이용되고 있는 변수 중심의 R 방법과의 차이, 그리고 컴퓨터 분석을 포함한 구체적인 Q 분석방법 및 관리적 활용상의 문제점에 대해 논의하였다

  • This study conducted a comparison analysis on the difference in the subjectivity structure of Korean and Chinese consumers based on their types of perception on advertisements of automobiles which has a high degree of self interest. The primary reason for conducting a comparison study of Korean and Chinese consumers was to concretize the characteristics of Chinese consumers who have enormous potential and rapid growth in the global market. In addition, by comparing the characteristics of Korean and Chinese consumers that changed with differences in social systems and socio-economic characteristics, the purpose was to present an advertising strategy idea that is useful for both countries. Furthermore, when taking into consideration the reality that the world must compete in a single market commonly referred to as the global market, understanding the subjectivity structure of perception of Korean and Chinese consumers is critical in establishing a strategy for occupying the upper position of dominance in such competition. Based on the results of the study, subjectivity structures on the perception of advertisements possessed by Korean and Chinese consumers of the same Asian culture differed but were mutually interrelated. Such results suggest that there is a need for further studies of generalization and objectification through a quantitative approach.

A Study on US Consumer's Subjectivity Schemata of Sharing Economy: Q Methodology (공유경제에 관한 미국 소비자의 주관성 가치체계 연구 : Q 방법론의 적용)

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the present US consumer behavioral trends and various cognitive schema types for sharing economy frame and shared service. For this, by applying Q methodology, this paper theoretically defines three differentiated typologies of US consumer in a interpretive perspective. This study is in-depth focused on discovering and categorizing characteristics of a respondent's thinking structure called 'schemata'. According to the entire procedures of Q methodology, this paper analyzed Q-sorted data from twenty-four people in the basis of forty Q-samples (statements). Consequently, we discovered four consumer groups named as Type 1 'Socialsumer', Type 2 'Smarsumer', Type 3 'Researsumer'.

  • The purpose of This study is to investigate the effects of the acceptance of food culture through YouTube, one of the platforms that is currently being used, on consumers' perceptions, and to establish marketing effects that can be obtained from the acceptance of food culture through YouTube platform, Q-methodology was selected and exploratory research was conducted to analyze consumers' subjective perspectives. For this purpose, analysis was conducted by classifying statement cards by respondents, and Q-sorts were selected and composed by the Q-group, and after the statement was prepared through this, P-samples were selected and the Q-sorts obtained through classification work were analyzed through the Q factor analysis using the PC QUANL program. The analysis results were classified into four types: Type 1 [(N=6): Preferred Food and Responsibility Satisfaction Type], Type 2 [(N=3): Non-emotional Preferred Food Type, Type 3 [(N=14): Information Acquisition Preferred Food Type], Type 4 [(N=2): Undetermined Type], etc. Each subjective opinion from these analyses will be helpful for various studies in the future, and it will be used as a reference for YouTube-related marketing and consumer restaurant culture acceptance in the future.

Mutual Perceptions among Clients, Agencies, and Consumers on the Evaluation of Ad Creativity: Extending Application of the Co-Orientation Model (광고 창의성 평가에 대한 광고주, 광고 제작자, 소비자 간의 상호인식 연구: 상호지향성 모델의 확장 적용)

  • This study explored mutual perceptions among clients, agencies, and consumers on the evaluation of ad creativity applying the co-orientation model. In order to investigate agreement, congruence, accuracy among three groups, they exposed to real commercials as stimuli and evaluated ad creativity of them in terms of four dimensions, such as originality, appropriateness, clarity, and relevance. Results indicated that agreement between agencies and consumers is relatively high, whereas one between clients and agencies is relatively low. Also, clients show relatively higher level of congruence, but agencies have relatively lower level of one. Accuracy between agencies' evaluation of ad creativity and clients' perception of agencies' view on ad creativity, and between consumers' evaluation of ad creativity and clients' perception of consumers' view on ad creativity would be relatively high. On the other hand, accuracy between clients' evaluation of ad creativity and agencies' perception of clients' view on ad creativity would be relatively low. Results showed that there is a need clients and agencies to consider on consumers' viewpoints on ad creativity.

  • 의류용 섬유제품의 쾌적성을 객관적으로 측정하려는 시도가 계속되고 있지만, 아직 소비자의 미묘한 차이를 검출하는 능력을 재현하기에는 거리가 있어 보인다. 객관적 측정법들은 재현성과 신뢰성 면에서 제각기 자신들의 우수한 성능을 자랑하지만, 검출능력의 민감성은 주관적 평가에 훨씬 못 미치고 있기 때문에 비현실적인 경우가 많다. 본 연구의 목적은 주관적 평가의 신뢰성을 높이고 통계적인 추론이 가능한 보다 진보된 형식의 주관적 평가법을 개발하고 의류용 직물의 촉감평가에 응용하는 것이다. 국내에서 생산되는 여름용 캐쥬얼 웨어를 대상으로 여러 형태의 주관적 평가법을 적용하여 그 촉감을 평가하였다. 평정척도법, 표준 비교법, 순위법, Thurstone일대 비교법, Quad 분석법 등을 순차적으로 적용하여 평가자 판단의 일관성 여부, 평가자간의 일치성 여부, 재현성 및 논리성 여부를 통계적으로 평가한 후 이를 통과한 평가자들을 대상으로 실험을 반복한 후, 직물 촉감과 관련된 물리적 속성들과의 관련성을 고찰하였다.

  • This study was carried out by practical method in a subjectivity study accessible in-depth, in sloughing off old habit of functional quantity analysis about medical-information advertising. The perception pattern come out in this study were divided into five types in Q-methodology. The result is as follows ; it is divided into 1[(N=4) : Interest Type], 2[(N=3) : comparison Type], 3[(N=3) : Product-focus Type], 4[(N=3) : Disbelief Type], 5[(N=2) : Improvement Type]. In conclusion, this study is to ascertain acceptance behavior about Reception Type on medical-information advertising ; to offer a developmental suggestion about it.

Research on the Factors that Affect Consumption Behaviors of Ethnic Food Restaurants (외국음식전문점 이용행동에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구)

  • In an attempt to explore the consumption behaviors of customers regarding ethnic food restaurants the present study examined the effects of consumer characteristics, accessibility of ethnic food restaurants, product characteristics, and social factors on the customer behavior towards ethnic food restaurants, and further investigated the causal relationship between the customer behavior and his or her intent to reuse. A questionnaire survey was conducted approximately for a month with domestic consumers who had tried foreign cuisines. A total of 230 questionnaires were distributed and 215 questionnaires were collected, of which 210 were used in the final analysis excluding five due to inadequate responses. The finding of the study were as follows. First, of the consumers' lifestyles category the gourmet oriented did not yield significant effect on subjective norm or other consumption behavior, whereas the trend oriented had noticeable influence on both factors. Second, while consumers' diversity-seeking characteristic did not affect subjective norm, it affected consumption behavior of ethic food restaurants. The results seem to indicate that the diversity-seeking characteristic is more to one's individual attributes, rather than being influenced by others. Third, ethnic food restaurant's consumption accessibilities strongly influenced the subjective norm, suggesting that in using the ethnic food restaurants, the more convenient the accessibility is, the higher the possibility of use from influenced reference group. However, when consumers previously had not been exposed to ethnic cuisines, convenient accessibility was not able to overcome the barriers of consumer reluctance, nor directly shape positive behaviors. Fourth, while national uniqueness of ethnic food did not affect subjective norm, the uniqueness did have positive impact on consumption behavior of foreign ethnic food restaurants. Fifth, consumer's subjective norm positively influenced both consumption behavior of ethnic food restaurants and their intent for future use. Lastly, consumption behavior toward foreign ethnic food restaurants positively influenced consumer's intent for future use, indicating that it would be most imperative and effective to first help reinforce positive attitude in oder to encourage a more use of ethnic food restaurants.

  • The effect of conducted using Q research method, which is one of qualitative analysis methods that can approach in-depth and essential meaning of Spanish restaurant's perception of dining out consumers. The purpose of this study is to classify Spanish restaurant's perceptions of catering consumers by type, to find out the characteristics among them, and to suggest future improvement directions. An exploratory study was conducted using Q-methodology to analyze the subjective perceptions of restaurant customers in Spanish restaurants. To this end, the Q-sort, which consists of a statement card, a P-sample, and a classification process, was analyzed through Q factor analysis using the PC QUANL program. The results were classified into two types. Type 1 (N=10): Spanish restaurant preference, Type 2 (N=7): The name of the factor was set as the type of professionalism in Spanish restaurants. Each type was found to have different characteristics. Each subjective perception detected through this analysis can be used as basic data for various studies.

  • 소비자 의사결정 행동은 여러 가지의 대안 중에서 선택의 문제이다. 그러한 선택에는 각각의 선택에 따른 위험이 따르기 마련이다. 일반 상거래에서의 이러한 위험에 관한 연구는 소비자 행동 연구에서 이미 오래 전에 다루어진 문제이다. 위험이란 현실적 내지 객관적으로 존재하는 위험이 아니라 소비자가 선택상황에서 주관적으로 지각하는 위험 즉 '지각위험(perceived risk)'을 의미하는 것이다. 소비자가 어느 만큼의 위험을 지각하느냐와 그 자신의 위험수용성이 곧 그의 구매결정에 영향을 주게 된다.(중략)
