Development of PSD Sensor Based Distance Measuring System for Intelligent Mobile Robot (지능형 이동로봇을 위한 PSD센서기반 거리계측 시스템의 개발)

  • 본 논문에서는 이동로봇의 저가형 위치인식센서로 적합한 PSD(Position Sensitive Detector)센서를 이용하여 거리계측시스템을 개발하였다. PSD 센서는 거리-전압 출력이 비선형적인 단점을 가지고 있어 센서의 특성실험을 통해 선형화가 가능한 변환함수를 제안하였다. 제안한 방법을 검증하기 위하여 거리계측시스템의 하드웨어 및 소프트웨어를 구성하였다. 또 피측정체의 색상 및 재질에 따른 출력특성을 실험하고 거리-전압 데이터를 측정하였다. 실측한 데이터를 바탕으로 제안한 선형화함수의 계수를 추출하였다. 마지막으로 제안한 함수에 의한 거리와 실제거리를 비교하여 시스템의 성능 및 정확성을 검증하였다.

  • In this paper, a system which uses Bluetooth and Zigbee wireless communication and mobile device is designed. The temperature within vehicle and the distance betweeen the vehicle and the obstacle is measured by ultrasonic sensor system. The measured data is sent to the mobile PDA and displayed to assist safe driving.

  • In this research, we propose a momentum measurement system using the accelerometer sensor, MCU, and Bluetooth to measure the exact momentum. The proposed system can figure out information for the real time travel distance. We performed various experiments, and analyzed the results using the proposed momentum measurement system. In the simulation experiments, we compared the reliability and accuracy for the existing momentum measurement systems from the analyzed results. The proposed system showed travel distance error of less than 8% as compared to the existing system with the error of approximately 13%. We expect that the proposed system apply to the commercial products.

  • Computer vision is coming more interesting with new imaging sensors' new capabilities which enable it to understand more its surrounding environment by imitating human vision system with artificial intelligence techniques. In this paper, we made experiments with Kinect camera, a new depth sensor for object detection and distance measurement functions, most essential functions in computer vision such as for unmanned or manned vehicles, robots, drones, etc. Therefore, Kinect camera is used here to estimate the position or the location of objects in its field of view and measure the distance from them to its depth sensor in an accuracy way by checking whether that the detected object is real object or not to reduce processing time ignoring pixels which are not part of real object. Tests showed promising results with such low-cost range sensor, Kinect camera which can be used for object detection and distance measurement which are fundamental functions in computer vision applications for further processing.

  • 본 논문에서는 온도 센서로부터 얻어지는 데이터를 전송하고 실시간으로 처리하기 위하여 RF방식을 이용한 단 방향 데이터 전송 시스템을 설계하고 그 특성을 측정하였다. 설계된 무선 전송기능의 온도 측정 시스템은 온도센서 및 제어부, 데이터 전송용 RF module로 구성되었다. 온도 측정을 위한 센서는 AD590 전류 구동 형 전압출력 센서이며 제어부는 PIC one-chip microprocessor를 사용하였다. 또한 데이터의 무선 전송을 위해 433MHz 주파수 대역의 반 이중 RF Module을 사용하여 system을 구현하였다. 실험은 10M 이내의 실내 공간 내에서 수행되었고, 임의의 온도측정 구간에 따른 온도 변화 환경에서 3가지 경우의 (3M,5M,10M) 거리 변화를 두고 데이터를 측정 및 비교 분석하였다. 실험결과 10M 이내의 거리에서는 온도센서로부터 얻어진 데이터를 실시간으로 송수신하여 결과를 처리할 수 있었으며 이를 이용한 다중 Sensor 시스템 구현이 가능한 결과를 얻었다.

A Study of the Optical System of a Time-of-flight Laser Distance Sensor for a Long Distance with Minimized Divergence Beam Angle (빔 확산각 최소화를 통한 장거리 측정용 ToF 레이저 거리센서 광학계 설계 연구)

  • In this paper, a study is conducted on the design of an optical system of a time-of-flight (TOF) laser distance sensor that can measure long distances by minimizing beam divergence. When measuring a long distance, the amount of light on the object's surface decreases as the distance increases, due to the diffusion angle of the laser beam, and thus the beam at the sensor also decreases, causing measurement errors. In general, a cylindrical lens is used to reduce the divergence beam angle. However, an optical system using a cylindrical lens has the problem of degraded performance due to the difficulty with assembly tolerance, as well as the problem of the increased size of the optical system, and thus the use of aspherical lenses has been increasing recently. Therefore, in this study, the optical efficiencies and assembly tolerances of optical systems using respectively a cylindrical lens and an aspherical lens are compared and analyzed.

  • Eddy current (EC) testing methods are widely used in a variety of applications including the inspection of steam generator tubes in nuclear power plants, aircraft parts and airframes. A key factor that affects the EC signal is lift-off which means the physical distance between a sensor and a specimen in the testing. In practice, it is difficult to keep track of the actual value of the lift -off during a specific experiment, simulation or testing in the field, which is essential for accurate interpretation of the signal to be used in the following steps. Hence it is necessary to have a scheme to render the EC signal invariant to the effects of lift-off in spite of the changes in the real world. This paper describes a new method for compensating EC signals for variations in lift-off by acquiring an invariance feature using a homomorphic operator and neural network techniques. The signals from various lift-offs are transformed to obtain a zero lift-off equivalent signal that can be subsequently used for defect characterization in the next step.

  • This paper describes an effort of improving performances of ultrasonic ranging system using V40 microprocessor. Conventional ranging systems are somewhat inaccurate because they do not have capability of compensating changes in medium condition. The novel ranging system overcomes this disadvantage by placing a dummy sensor functioning as a standard calibrating instrument in the same medium and by providing data processing capability using V40 controller. Also data communication between V40 and personal computer via RS232C makes it possible to use the ranging system for varieties of other applications such as analysis of static and dynamic system.

  • Range-based real time localization systems require superior localization techniques as well as accurate ranging algorithms for better performance. To evaluate the ranging accuracy between two nodes in practical environments, this paper does not only present a qualitative analysis by computing a distance equation under SDS-TWR measurement model of no symmetry assumption, but also executes a quantitative evaluation by doing experiments after building up a test network employing the developed sensor node. Experimental results show that the ranging accuracy of the proposed implementation of IEEE 802.15.4a software stack is superior with smaller average error rate by 60% to one of the commercial Nanotron's reference development kit.

  • 유체 동역학에서, 난류에 의해 수중 구조물에 가해지는 압력과 전단력의 측정은 중요한 문제이 다. 이러한 유체의 흐름에 의한 압력과 전단력, 나아가 유체의 흐름방향까지 시간과 거리의 함수로 측정 할 수 있는 새로운 탄성표면파 센서가 개발되었다. 센서는 압축 인장형 전단력을 받는 두 개의 표면파 와 흐르는 유체 속의 표면파의 속도차는 또한 유체흐름에 의해 가해지는 압력에 비례한다. 정지류 속의 표면파와 흐르는 유체 속의 표면파의 속도차는 또한 유체흐름에 의해 가해지는 압력에 비례한다. 이 센 서를 응력 로젯과 같이 배열하면 유체의 진행방향도 함께 측정할 수 있다. 표면파 센서는 넓은 주파수 대역에 걸쳐 사용이 가능하므로, 적절히 설계하면 유체의 흐름에 의한 표면력과 유체의 진행방향을 동 시에 거리와 시간의 함수로서 국부적으로, 광역적으로 측정할 수 있다.
