Efficient Successive Transmission Technique in Event Based OS for Sensor Network (센서네트워크를 위한 이벤트 기반 운영체제에서 효율적인 연속적 전송 기법)

  • To transfer large amount of packets fast in sensor network, it is necessary that the delay between successive packet transmissions should be minimized as possible. In Sensor network, since the Operating Systems are worked on the event driven, the Timer Event is used to transfer packets successively. However, since the transferring time of packet completely is varies very much, it is very hard to set appropriate interval. If interval is too long, delay also becomes too long but if interval is too short, the fail of transfer request would increase. In this paper, we propose ESTEO which reduces the delay between successive packet transmissions by using SendDone Event which informs that a packet transmission has been completed. In ESTEO, the delay between successive packet transmissions is shortened very much since the transmission of next Packet starts at the time when the transmission of previous packet has completed, irrespective of the transmission time. Therefore ESTEO could provide high packet transmission rate given large amount of packets.

  • The real-time monitoring about the activity of the human provides useful information about the activity quantity and an ability. This study developed a system for human physical activity assessment in ambulatory monitoring using portable sensing device combining a tri-axial accelerometer and wireless sensor node. This real-time system is able to identify several postures, posture transitions and movements with classification algorithm. In addition, this system also features fall detection capability. The results of the assessment for evaluating the performance of the system show high identification accuracy.

  • An intelligent home network system using low-power and low-cost sensor nodes was designed and implemented. In Intelligent Home Network System, active home appliances control is composed of RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) based user indoor location tracking, dynamic multi-hop routing, and learning integration remote-control. Through the remote-control learning, home appliances can be controlled in wireless network environment. User location information for intelligent service is calculated using RSSI based Triangle measurement method, and then the received location information is passed to Smoothing Algorithm to reduce error rate. In order to service Intelligent Home Network, moreover, the sensor node is designed to be held by user. The gathered user data is transmitted through dynamic multi-hop routing to server, and real-time user location & environment information are displayed on monitoring program.

  • This paper describes indoor location estimation intelligent robot. It is loaded indoor location estimation function using RSSI based indoor location estimation system and wireless sensor networks. Spartan III(Xilinx, U.S.A.) is used as a main control device in the mobile robot and the current direction data is collected in the indoor location estimation system. The data is transferred to the wireless sensor network node attached to the mobile robot through Zigbee/IEEE 802.15.4, a wireless communication. After receiving it, with the data of magnetic compass the node is aware of and senses the direction the robot head for and the robot moves to its destination. Indoor location estimation intelligent robot is can be moved efficiently and actively without obstacle on flat ground to the appointment position by user.

  • This paper describes a real-time reliable measurement and analysis system for ubiquitous healthcare based on IEEE802.15.4 standard. In order to obtain and monitor physiological body signals continuously, wearable pulse oximeter is designed in wrist that could used to measure oxygen saturation of a patient unobtrusively. The measured data was transferred to a central PC or server by using wireless sensor nodes via a wireless sensor network for storage and analysis purposes. LabVIEW server program was designed to monitor and process the measured photoplethysmogram(PPG) to accelerated plethysmogram(APG) by appling second order derivatives in server PC. These experimental results demonstrate that APG can precisely describe the features of an individual's PPG and be used as estimation of vascular elasticity for blood circulation.
