  • There has been a notable increased interest of the study of emotions in educational contexts. The purpose of this study was to analyze predicting emotional variables of self-regulated learning strategies and self-handicapping strategies with the university students. Participants were 143 students of undergraduates at A University and B University. Collected data were analyzed by correlation analysis and regression analysis, respectively. It turned out that class related emotions, learning related emotions, and test emotions predicted self-handicapping strategies negatively. However, achievement emotions didn't predict self-regulated learning strategies. The result of this study will provide the theoretical basis and practical usefulness of academic emotions.

  • The purpose of the study was to examine any difference in academic achievement, self-concept and achievement motivation by the types of hemispheric dominance. 189 high school students participated in the study. They were taken three kinds of different psychological tests i.e., the brain hemispheric preference (dominance), the self-concept and the achievement motivation tests. Three types of hemispheric dominance were classified as the left hemispheric, the right hemispheric and whole brain dominances. The results showed that students with the right hemispheric dominance showed lower academic achievement and self concept than the other groups students. Those who had left hemisphere dominance showed higher achievement motivation than the right hemispheric students. These results could be interpreted that education in the high school in Korea mainly focuses left hemisphere related topics or subjects.

  • Many researches have tried to introduce affective computing for Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). In the affective aspect, emotional memories significantly affect on people's cognitive processing activities. In this paper, to observe the effect of affective feedback for emotional state of learners in an e-learning environment, selected emotional feedback messages and delivery method are integrated into an e-learning system. Self reporting button for recognizing learner's emotional state are used for detecting learner's emotional states and the test results show that providing affective feedback to learner has positive effects in e-learning environment in terms of learner's academic achievements.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze contents of the elementary school textbooks on 'Forest Education' based on the 2015 revised curriculum. This study is designed to determine the status of forest educationrelated content in the curriculum. Thetypesofforesteducationintextbooksweredividedintoanalysis. In addition, the standards of achievement of the curriculum were analyzed into the areas of forest education curriculum to determine the similarities between the curriculum and the achievement of forest education. This study shows that, first, the field of knowledge in forest education was included in all subjects and grades except mathematics. It noted that the curriculum includes areas of knowledge that directly convey knowledge related to forest education. This showed that the forest education knowledge area is linked to various courses. Second, the types of forest education included in the curriculum appeared differently depending on age. In the lower grades, there was the most information on the tools and sensibilities of forest education, and in the higher grades, the more knowledge and value-related areas were addressed. As the school year increases, so do forest education levels. Third, when analyzing the achievement criteria in the curriculum, the curriculum achievement criteria included key points in forest education. Thus, this study confirmed the link between the curriculum and forest education.

The subjects included college students in various cities. A total of 199 students were analyzed in the study. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. The findings show that behavioral strategy, a subarea of self-leadership, self-motivation ability, a subarea of emotional intelligence, and autonomy and positive interpersonal relationship, two subareas of psychological well-being, had significant effects on their academic achievement and had an explanatory power of 13.0%. The study examined relationships between academic achievement and general characteristics and found differences in academic achievement according to gender and grade. Academic achievement had positive correlations with self-motivation ability, a subarea of emotional intelligence, behavioral strategy, a subarea of self-leadership, and autonomy and positive interpersonal relationship, two subareas of psychological well-being. In short, there is a need to develop programs that help nursing college students improve their behavioral strategy of self-leadership, self-motivation ability of emotional intelligence, and their autonomy and positive interpersonal relationship of psychological well-being, for high academic achievement.

  • The object of this research is to understand the domain-universality and domain-specificity of scientific domain and visual art domain from case studies on individuals who had made creative accomplishments in the domain of science and visual art. For case studies, 10 people who made creative accomplishments in the science and technology domain and 9 people who made creative accomplishments in the visual art domain were selected as the research participants. The conclusions for the case studies were made on the data obtained from interviewing the research participants using KES as an analytical frame. The findings of this study support as follows. Creativity on scientific domain and visual art domain is both the domain-universality and domain-Specificity. The domain-universality Of scientific domain and visual art domain is related to the nature of human beings, originality in creativity, and the natural selection. On the other hand, The domain-specificity of scientific domain and visual art domain is related to the type of knowledge and the context of applying the knowledge, will, thinking skill, direction, and social components.

  • The current study investigated whether individual variation in motivational activation would predict the drug-use and interacts with discrete emotions to influence the responses to anti-drug advertisements. Motivational activation tendency indicates an individual's level to approach life-sustaining elements and defend life-threatening stimuli. Discrete emotion represents joy, sadness, and fear elicited by the advertisements. The experiment proceeded using both self-reports and physiological responses with 80 subjects. Results showed that approach motivation activation can be a target for anti-drug advertisements and in order to target individuals higher in approach activation, it is necessary to use the appeal type to elicit positive emotions such as joy.

  • The reduction of traffic accidents is a primary potential benefit of autonomous vehicles (AVs). However, the prevalence of AVs also arouses a key question: to what extent should a human wrest control back from AVs? Specifically, in an unavoidable situation of emergency, should an AV be able to decide between the safety of its own passengers and endangered pedestrians? Should AV programming include well-accepted decision rules about actionsto take in hypothetical situations? The current study (N = 103) examined individual/situational variables that could perform critical decision-making roles in AV related traffic accidents. The individual variable of attitudes toward AVs was assessed using the Self-driving Car Acceptance Scale. To investigate situational influences on decisional processes, the study's participants were assigned to one of two groups: the achievement value was activated in one group and the benevolence value was triggered in the other through the use of a sentence completion task. Thereafter, participants were required to indicate who should be protected from injury: the passengers of the concerned AV, or endangered pedestrians. Participants were also asked to record the extent to which they intended to buy an AV programmed to decide in favor of the greater good according to Utilitarian principles. The results suggested that participants in the "achievement value: driver perspective" groupexpressed the lowest willingness to sacrifice themselves to save several pedestrians in an unavoidable traffic accident. This group of participants was also the most reluctant to buy an AV programmed with utilitarian rules, even though there were significant positive relationships between members' acceptance of AVs and their expressed intention to purchase one. These findings highlight the role of the decisional processes involved in the "achievement value" pertaining to AVs. The paper finally records the limitations of the present study and suggests directions for future research.
