The Relations of Aging Anxiety and Depression Focused on Middle Aged People of Digital University (디지털대학 중년기 재학생의 노화불안과 우울에 관한 연구)

  • This paper was to explore the effect of aging anxiety of the middle-aged on depression in aging society. This survey was conducted from September, 2013 to December, 2013 and 302responses from the survey were used for the analysis. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, pearson correlation and Multiple Regression. The research findings could be summarized as the followings. First, the mean scores of aging anxiety and depression were lower than average. Second, aging anxiety was the significant predictor to explain depression. Third, income also was the significant predictors which have the effectiveness to the depression.

Study on Adult College Students' School Life Satisfaction (성인 대학 재학생 학교생활 만족도에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the extent to which adult learners are satisfied with their school life while in college and to find ways to improve education in the future through the analysis of educational needs. Suggestions for the results are as follows: First, in line with the 5th Basic Plan for the Promotion of Lifelong Education, universities are required to make a major transformation in lifelong learning that meets the needs of the times. Second, satisfaction with the university's infrastructure, such as lecture halls, libraries, laboratory/practice rooms, and welfare and amenities, was 49 percent positive and 40 percent moderate. Third, to the question, "Our university is appropriately operating a field-oriented curriculum based on adult learners," 73 percent answered positively and 25 percent answered moderately. Fourth, in terms of curriculum management, more than half of the respondents answered positively to the question, "Students' opinions are appropriately reflected when opening liberal arts courses," with 58 percent answering. Fifth, experiments and practical training in major courses are useful for learning and acquiring practical skills in the field (reinforcement of practicality)," the response rate was 69 percent, which is more than half of the total. For the development of the country, it is necessary to continuously promote the self-development of the people. Therefore, universities are required to develop adult-tailored curricula and strengthen job competencies that can be applied directly in the field, as well as skill-centered education.

The effects of the locus of control and Aging Anxiety on preparation for old age in middle-aged adults (내외통제성과 노화불안이 중년기 성인의 노후준비에 미치는 영향)

  • This paper was to explore the effects of the locus of control and aging anxiety of the middle-aged on preparation for old age in aging society. This survey was conducted from September, 2013 to December, 2014 and 308 responses from the survey were used for the analysis. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, pearson correlation and Multiple Regression. The research findings could be summarized as the followings. First, the mean score of aging anxiety was lower than average and the mean score of preparation for old age was higher than average. Also, Middle-aged adults showed higher internal control than external control. Second, aging anxiety was the significant predictor to explain preparation for old age in middle aged. Third, income, age and religion also were the significant predictors which have the effectiveness to the preparation for old age.

Factors to Disturb Adult Learner's e-Learning Persistence: A Case Study of H-Cyber University in Seoul Korea (성인학습자의 e-러닝 학업지속 장애요인에 대한 사례 연구:서울소재 H사이버대학을 중심으로)

  • This study investigates factors to disturb the e-Learning persistence of adult learners based on a case study of Cyber University students located in Seoul Korea. Main findings of our research show that economic burden, shortage of studying hours, digital literacy problem, perceived isolation, inefficient interaction between lecturer and student, and support of family are primary factors to influence the persistence of online education in a Cyber university. From our case study, we recommend to improve the scholarship system, and supplement the offline special lectures at weekends in order to alleviate perceived isolation. A novelty of this paper is that economic burden is highlighted to influence the persistence of adult learners.

The Effects of Adult Attachment and Self-Differentiation on Clinical Competency of Nursing Students (성인애착과 자아분화가 간호대학생의 임상수행능력에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to understand the relationship between the clinical competency of nursing students and their adult attachment and self-differentiation of nursing students. Data collection was conducted from the third and fourth grade students who had experienced clinical practice in a nursing university at Daejeon, Chungcheong province in two nursing universities at Daejeon and Chungcheong province. Finally, 169 out of initial 200 questionnaires were used for analysis. The collected data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation effectiveness, and stepwise multiple regression using the SPSS Statistics 22 Windows program. Attachment avoidance in adult attachment was significantly correlated with self-differentiation (r=-240, p=.002) and clinical competency (r=-.237, p=.002). Clinical competency was significantly correlated with attachment avoidance (r=-.237, p=.002) and self-differentiation (r=.248, p=.001). The result of stepwise multiple regression indicates that self-differentiation and attachment avoidance (F=8.707, p<.001) predicts 8.4% in clinical competency. The most powerful predictor was self-differentiation (${\beta}=.203$, p=.008), followed by attachment avoidance (${\beta}=.188$, p=.0015). Therefore, in order to improve the clinical competency of nursing college students, it is deemed necessary to develop and apply educational and counseling programs capable of increasing their level of self-differentiation while decreasing their degree of attachment avoidance.

Needs Analysis of Distance Education Students for Using e-Textbooks on Smartpads (원격대학 학습자의 연령 및 성별에 따른 스마트패드용 전자교재에 대한 인식의 차이)

  • In this study, we analyzed the needs of open university students for e-textbooks by conducting focus group interviews (FGIs) and surveys in order to develop an e-textbook that is suited to their needs. The FGIs revealed that readability and portability of e-textbooks were the most important features for students. The surveys showed that of the 276 respondents who participated in the study, only a small number owned smartpads; however, a sizeable number of students intended on purchasing the device in the future. In addition, students' smartpad utilization, time spent reading e-books, and time allotted for studying as opposed to leisure and commercial use of social network services on the smartpad were examined. Students attached importance to the portability, weight, and price of the e-textbook; moreover, they considered the device's ability to support interaction in a variety of ways and rich multimedia resources to be an advantage. Finally, students also felt that e-textbooks should be less expensive than print textbooks; however, they were willing to pay a higher price, depending on the quality of the content.

Attitudes about Parental Economic Support to Young Adult Children: Comparisons among Children, Mothers and Fathers (부모의 성인자녀에 대한 경제적 지원 관련 태도 연구: 자녀, 어머니, 아버지의 비교를 중심으로)

  • Recently increasing young adults have experienced serious economic difficulties in their transition to adulthood and so a great deal of parents have to help their children financially even well after children finish their schools. Utilizing the 2008 Social Survey, a nationwide representative survey collected by the Statistics Korea, this paper examines how children, mothers, and fathers think about parental support to adult children. Respondents of the 2008 Social Survey answer how much parents support economically to their children about the following four items: college education, graduation school education, spending money while searching for jobs, and marital preparation. Analyzing a sample of 1,727 high school students and their parents, I find that the three family members generally accept economic support to the above items as part of parental duties. Also comparisons of the three family members' attitudes indicate that they usually reach the consensus about the dutiful scope of parental support to adult children. Logistic regressions reveal that male teens and children with conservatism are more likely to believe in wider scope of parental economic duties. And parents who are on good terms with children and are high in educational and occupational levels are more willing to support adult children. I conclude with implications of the findings for intergenerational relationships.

A Case Study on the Effect of the Extracurricular Program of Convergence Major in Lifelong Education of Persons with Disabilities in Universities on Restaurant Employment Skills of High School Students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (대학 학과 간 장애인평생교육 융합전공 탐색 비교과프로그램이 지적 및 발달장애 고등학생의 식당취업기술에 미치는 효과)

  • This study was conducted to verify the effectiveness of the university's extracurricular program of convergence majors on lifelong education for the disabled on the performance of restaurant employment skills for high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The research method consisted of a case study procedure for three intellectual and developmental disability high school students, specifically using a single subject research technique. The study found that high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities effectively acquired and maintained restaurant employment skills through extracurricular program on convergence majors of lifelong education for the disabled. In conclusion, the university's extracurricular program on convergence major of lifelong education for the disabled was analyzed to be effective in adapting to adult life and self-reliance, including restaurant employment skills of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Effect of College Students' Ego Status on Career Aspiration and Job Choice Value (대학생의 자아상태가 진로포부와 직업선택가치에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of College Students' Ego Status on career aspiration and job choice value. In order to investigate this questionnaire, 120 students from the Tourism Management Department of S University in Gyeonggi-do were surveyed. The questionnaire was reconstructed on the basis of previous studies and total of 45 items. Survey items of career choice value were 7 items including leadership desire, professionalism, direct improvement, social contribution, intellectual value calculation, vacation guarantee, salary Level. As a result of the study, it was found that career aspiration and job choice value were highly correlated with each other and that egogram structure showed a high correlation with adult ego status. Also, the higher the career aspiration and the higher the adult ego status, the higher the value of job choice. Based on the above results, the analysis of the ego-status profile based on the transactional analysis theory can be used as a very useful basic data for exploring the students' career decision, career choice and job choice, I think it will help me to understand and find an alternative career path.

Influencing Factors on Knowledge of Contraception (피임 지식에 영향을 미치는 요인 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze influencing factors on knowledge of contraception with University freshmen. The cross-sectional descriptive study design was used and we selected 139 University freshmen through randomize sampling. The method of study was frequency, chi-square test, pearson correlation, and hierarchial regression. The result of this study was as follows; General characteristics including sexual related characteristics were sexual education, sex, allowed money in order and there were correlation between sexual education and knowledge of contraception, allowed money and sexual education, and parents and major satisfaction. Therefore we suggest that 새 set up the right sexual culture, right information about sexual information to University freshmen and there are needed tailed sexual education program should be established with sex and allowed money.
