The Impacts of anxiety and depression on smartphone addiction : Focusing on the moderating effect of gender (불안과 우울이 스마트폰중독에 미치는 영향 : 성별조절효과를 중심으로)

  • This study examined the moderating effects of gender on the effects of anxiety and depression on college students' smartphone addiction. For this purpose, 331 students in Gyeonggi province were conducted a survey, and a structural equation modeling was used. The results showed that female had higher levels of anxiety, depression, and smartphone addiction than male. Second, the analysis of structural equation modeling to investigate the effect of anxiety and depression on smartphone addiction revealed that depression affects smartphone addiction. Third, gender had a moderating effect on the effects of anxiety and depression on smartphone addiction. Anxiety affected male, while depression worked on female. Based on the results of this study, it was discussed that different approaches are needed depending on gender in preventing and intervention for smartphone addiction.

Moderated Moderating Effect of Gender and Resilience in the Relationship between Family-Friendly Climate and Innovative Behavior (가족친화적 조직분위기와 혁신행동의 관계에서 성별과 회복탄력성의 조절된 조절효과)

  • This research examines the effects of family-friendly organizational climate(FFOC) on innovative behavior. In addition, this study analyzed the moderated moderation effect of members' gender and resilience in the relationship between FFOC and innovative behavior. The results of this study, which empirically analyzed 1,026 employees of manufacturing companies in South Korea using SPSS regression analysis and PROCESS macro, are as follows. First, the FFOC showed a positive effect on innovative behavior. Second, gender had a moderating effect on the relationship between FFOC and innovative behavior. Specifically, men showed higher innovative behavior than women at the low FFOC level, but women showed higher innovative behavior than men at the high FFOC level. Finally, this research demonstrated the moderated moderation effect of gender and resilience in the relationship between FFOC and innovative behavior. ① When the FFOC was high, in the employee group with a low level of resilience, women's innovative behavior was higher than that of men. On the other hand, men's innovative behavior remained at a certain level regardless of FFOC. ② Also, in the employee group with a high level of resilience, the innovative behavior of men was higher than women regardless of FFOC. Based on the results of this study, theoretical and practical implications, research limitations, and future research directions were discussed.

A Study on the Influence of Entrepreneurial Motivations of College Students Majoring in Foodservice on Entrepreneurial Intentions: Focused on the Moderating Effects by Gender (외식관련전공 대학생의 창업동기가 창업의도에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구: 성별의 조절효과를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the influence of entrepreneurial motivation upon entrepreneurial intentions of college students majoring in foodservice through the pull and push factors of the motivation theory, analyzing the moderating effects by gender. Based on total 317 college students, this study was conducted with exploring factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, and hierarchical moderated regression. The results showed that, among the pull factors, need for achievement (p<0.001) and self-actualization (p<0.01) had a significant positive influence on entrepreneurial intentions. It appears that entrepreneurial intentions of college students majoring in foodservice were developed by positive entrepreneurial motivation. The moderating effects by gender were not significant. Through the study results with theoretical suggestions, this study proposed a policy to encourage entrepreneurial activation and desires in college students. Limitations and further research directions are also discussed.

  • Youth unemployment including college graduates has become more serious in recent years. It is very necessary to study the factors affecting entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intentions. These days, the number of female entrepreneurs has been increased dramatically. There have been many successful entrepreneurs with technology background in Korea. Until now, there have been not so many empirical studies examining moderating effects of gender and college major. A lot of studies have examined the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurial intention of college students. The purpose of this article is to examine gender and major as moderators in the relationship. Until now, there has been very few research investigating the moderating effects of gender and major on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurial intention. Survey questionaries were given to 400 college students randomly chosen in Gangwon-do. Finally, 334 surveys were used to analyze the relationship. The findings of our study are as follows. First, similar to previous studies, entrepreneurial orientation of college students has a positive effect on entrepreneurial intention. Second, participation both in school entrepreneurship courses and out of school entrepreneurship education does positively affect entrepreneurial intention. Gender and major are moderating variables between entrepreneurial orientation and entrepreneurial intention. Third, compared to male students, female students with low entrepreneurial orientation show much lower entrepreneurial intention. Fourth, compared to Non-STEM students, STEM students with low entrepreneurial orientation show much lower entrepreneurial intention. Thus, in order to improve entrepreneurial intention among college students, it is very important to develop entrepreneurial orientation, especially for female and STEM college students.

Effects of Self-acceptance and Family Forgiveness on Family Cohesion: Moderating Effects of Gender (자기수용과 가족용서가 가족응집력에 미치는 영향: 성별의 조절효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the moderating effect of gender among self-acceptance, family forgiveness and family cohesion. It was conducted to measure self-acceptance, family forgiveness and family cohesion from 376(188 male, 188 female) university students. The moderating effect according to gender was analyzed through hierarchical regression analysis and path analysis. As a result of analysis, first, there were positive relationship, among self-acceptance, family forgiveness and family cohesion. Second, self-acceptance and family forgiveness had a significant effect on the family cohesion. Third, gender had moderating effect within the relationship of self-acceptance, family forgiveness and family cohesion. Specifically, impact on family cohesion of self-acceptance is greater in men, and impact on family cohesion of family forgiveness is greater in women. Implications of these results were explored in relation to the importance of self-acceptance and forgiveness that could be taken to improve family cohesion. In addition, this implication and suggestions for future research are provided.

The moderating effect of malicious comments neutralization by gender difference (성별 차이에 따른 악성댓글 중화의 조절효과)

  • As malicious comments are emerging as social problems, the solution is needed. Many studies have been conducted in various perspectives to understand and prevent malicious comments. In the previous researches, the neutralization of malicious comments has attracted attention as an important factor explaining the malicious comments, but the difference of the degree of neutralization according to the gender has not been rarely considered. In addition, although there are many environmental characteristics that are different from reality in online, research with malicious comments is insufficient. Based on these facts, this study examined moderating effects of gender on relationship between malicious comments and neutralization, and demonstrated the effects of online environmental factors (anonymity, lack of social presence) on malicious comments. As a result of the study, we discovered that the influence of online environmental factors was not found, but neutralization of malicious comments had strong direct influence on malicious comments and moderating effect of gender difference. Based on the results of this study, we discuss academic and practical implications and suggest limitations of research and future research directions.

  • OECD 국가들과 마찬가지로 한국의 청년실업문제는 매우 심각하다. 높은 청년실업문제는 경제성장에 영향을 미칠 뿐만 아니라 출산, 범죄 등의 심각한 사회적 문제를 초래할 수 있다. 창업은 단순히 청년들의 단기적 직업을 제공할 뿐만 아니라 미래 사회가 필요로 하는 인적자원을 개발시키는 역할을 담당하고 있다. 즉, 청년층인 대학생들의 창업을 북돋울 수 있는 방안과 연관된 연구는 매우 중요하다. 본 연구의 목적은 대학생의 기업가정신이 창업동기에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 이들 관계에서조절초점성향의 조절효과를 검증하는 것이다. 본 연구를 위해 강원지역 대학생들을 대상으로 한 342부의 설문지가 최종분석에 사용되었다. 연구 분석을 통해 확인된 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생의 기업가정신은 창업의도에 영향을 미칠 것이라는 가설을 설정했으며 실증연구에서 이를 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 기업가 정신이 창업의도에 미치는 영향에 있어서 성별의 조절효과를 확인하였다. 기업가정신이 남녀 모두에 있어 창업의도에 정(+)의 상관관계를 가지며 그 영향력은 남성에 비해 여성이 더 크다는 것을 확인하였다. 셋째, 대학생의 촉진초점이 남녀 모두에 있어서 창업의도에 정(+)의 상관관계를 가지며 그 영향력은 남성에 비해 여성이 크다는 것을 확인하였다.

Appearance Satisfaction and School Adjustment in Nursing Students: Mediating Effect of Self-esteem and Moderating Effect of Gender (간호대학생의 외모만족과 학교생활적응: 자아존중감의 매개효과와 성별의 조절효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between appearance satisfaction and school adjustment of nursing students. The role of self-esteem and gender in the relationship between appearance satisfaction and school adjustment were also examined. A descriptive correlational design was adopted and the convenience sample consisted of 188 undergraduate nursing students in D city. It was found that appearance satisfaction affected directly and indirectly through self-esteem on school adjustment. The results indicated that self-esteem had partial mediation effects in the relationship between appearance satisfaction and school adjustment. Moderation effect of gender was found only in the relationship between appearance satisfaction and self-esteem. This meant that women were affected more than men according to the level of appearance satisfaction. The results suggested that the intervention program to support nursing students to accept themselves more positively and to enhance their self-esteem will be effective to help nursing students adjust themselves more to school life. It was also indicated in this study that specialized intervention programs are needed for women.

The Influence of Problem Gambling on Suicidal Ideation through Depression among Stayers in the Area of Casino: The Moderated Mediation Effect of Gender (카지노 주변 체류자의 문제도박이 우울을 통해 자살생각에 미치는 영향: 성별의 조절된 매개효과)

  • This study aimed to examine the influence of problem gambling on suicidal ideation through depression among stayers in the area of casino and to investigate the moderated mediation effect of gender. For the purpose, this study used a sample of 298 stayers in the area of casino, and conducted data analyses by utilizing Process Macro for SPSS. The main results are as follows. First, problem gambling positively significantly influenced suicidal ideation among stayers in the area of casino. Second, depression perfectly mediated the influence of problem gambling on suicidal ideation. Third, gender moderated the influence of depression on suicidal ideation. Fourth, the moderated conditional mediation effect of gender in the influence of problem gambling on suicidal ideation through depression was found. Based on the findings, this study concludes with discussing intervention strategies to address problem gambling and suicidal ideation among stayers in the area of casino.

  • The purposes of this study are (1) to examine the relationships among attitude on SNS use, subjective norm, perceived behavioral control, and SNS use, (2) to analyze effect of SNS use on bonding network and bridging network, (3) to consider moderating effect of the gender on the relationship between SNS use and Social network. We conducted a survey for 20-30's SNS user. The results of analysis using the Structural Equation Model(SEM) represent that attitude on SNS use, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control are significant determinants of the SNS use. SNS use affects bonding network and bridging network. An interesting result was observed that the gender had moderating effect on the relationship between SNS use and social network. Based on these results, we suggest theoretical and practical implications of this study.
