  • Precision parts and instruments are tested to evaluate performance in development-process and product-step to prement a potential defect due to a failure design. In this paper, Environmental test technology, which is the basis of reliability analysis, is introduced with examples of test criterion, test method for products, encoder and traffic signal controller, and measuring instruments. Recently, as the importance of the environmental test technology is recognised. It is proposed that tranining of test technician and technology of jig design and failure analysis are very essential.

  • 재료 조사시험용 계장캡슐은 하나로(Hi-Flux Advanced Neutron Application Reactor : HANARO) 를 이용하는 조사시설중의 하나이다. 캡슐 내부에 있는 열매체는 다공 원통구조물로 고려되며, 다양한 형태와 크기를 갖는 조사시험용 시편이 각 단에 삽입된다. 조사시험에 대한 사용자의 요구조건을 효율적으로 충족시키기 위해서는 캡슐 열매체에 대한 여러 역학적인 특성을 파악하여 설계 및 제작할 필요가 있다. 따라서 계장 캡슐 설계의 초기단계로서 다양한 기하학적인 설계변수를 갖는 다공 캡슐 열매체의 구조적 특성을 파악하기 위한 연구를 수행하였다. 조사 분위기인 하중상태에서의 다공 구조물에 대한 구조응력해석을 수행하여 다공 매개변수에 따른 응력 및 변위 등을 고찰하였고, 구조물의 건전성을 평가하였다.

Design and Integrity Evaluation of High-temperature Piping Systems in the STELLA-2 Sodium Test Facility (STELLA-2 소듐 시험 시설 고온 배관 계통의 설계 및 건전성 평가)

  • In this study, elevated temperature design and integrity evaluation have been conducted using two different piping design codes for the high-temperature piping systems of sodium integral effect test loop for safety simulation and assessment(STELLA-2) being developed by KAERI(Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute). The design code of ASME B31.1 for power piping and French nuclear grade piping design guideline, RCC-MRx RD-3600 were applied, and conservatism of those codes was quantified based on the piping integrity evaluation results. The piping system of Model DHRS, Model IHTS and PSLS are to be installed in STELLA-2. The integrity evaluation results for the three piping systems according to the two design codes showed that integrity of the piping system was confirmed. As a code comparison result, ASME B31.1 was shown to be more conservative for sustained loads while RD-3600 was more conservative for thermal loads compared to B31.1.

  • 하이브리드 굴삭기는 에너지 재생 및 연비향상을 위하여 기존의 유압부품들 중 일부를 전기부품으로 대체하여 시스템을 구성하고 있다. 따라서, 하이브리드 굴삭기의 신뢰성을 평가하고 보장하기 위해서는 기계적인 부하와 전기적인 부하가 복합적으로 영향을 미쳐 발생되는 고장모드를 고려하여 신뢰성평가기법을 개발하여야 한다. 특히 하이브리드 굴삭기는 가혹한 실외 환경조건에서 운용되므로 새롭게 개발되는 부품들에 대하여 설계 결함을 조기에 발견하기 위한 복합 내환경 시험과 초가속 수명시험이 수행되어야만 한다. 본 연구에서는 FMEA, FMECA, FTA 및 HALT 등의 다양한 신뢰성 기법을 사용하여 하이브리드 굴삭기의 신뢰성평가기법을 개발하였고, 개발대상 하이브리드 굴삭기의 주요 동력전달 파트인 선회구동 시스템에 대한 신뢰성평가장비를 개발하고 구축하였다. 본 연구에서 개발된 하이브리드 굴삭기 신뢰성평가기법은 하이브리드 자동차의 부품들에 대한 신뢰성평가에도 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Assessing Average Bioequivalence for 2×2 Crossover Design with Covariates (공변량을 고려한 2×2 교차설계법에 평균 생물학적 동등성 평가)

  • The primary variables are often systematically related to other influences apart from drug effect. For instance, there may be relationships to covariates such as health conditions or prognostic factors. When a $2{\times}2$ crossover experiment for bioequivalence is designed, the statistical adjustment for the influence of covariates should be considered if some covariates influence the drug effect. Statistical inference for assessing average bioequivalence for a $2{\times}2$ crossover design with covariates is given and an illustrated example is presented with discussion.

The Subjective Assessment Testing of Basic and Transmission Video Quality for Digital Broadcasting Satellite (디지털 위성 방송 기본 화질과 전송 화질의 주관적 평가 시험)

  • Basic and transmission video quality testing was performed in real-time mode using hardware video codec based on MPEG-2 MP@ML standard including subsequent transmitting and receiving satellite simulator unit. The double-stimulus Impairment scale method and the double-stimulus continous quality scale method based on CCIR 500-5 were used as an evaluation method. The whole digital broadcasting satellite system consisting of MPEG-2 codec, system mux/demux, channel codec, channel, modem, antenna, etc. was put into the overall video quality testbed and the basic and transmission error quality assessment was performed at various bitrates and BER for an integrated system performance evaluation. In transmission error video quality testing, transmission error video quality maintained on average above 3.9 point on the 5-point scale. The low-bit rate quality such as film mode(@2Mbps) highly depended on the statitical characteristics of video source and maintained on average around 2.7 point.

  • Assessing bioequivalence between original drug and generic drug is traditionally based on $2{\times}2$ crossover design. As bioequivalence trials for highly variable drugs are getting popular, the required sample size based on $2{\times}2$ crossover design would be very large, which might cause the ethical concerns. Regulatory agencies like EMA and MFDS recommended higher order crossover designs such as $2{\times}4$, $4{\times}2$ and $4{\times}4$ crossover designs. Alternatively, a $2{\times}3$ dual design may be recommended in terms of economical and ethical points of view in comparison with the $2{\times}4$ crossover design for highly variable drug. In this study, we consider some statistical characteristics of $2{\times}3$ dual design and propose statistical procedures for calculating sample size and assessing bioequivalence based on $2{\times}3$ dual design. We also discuss the proposed procedures from the perspective of newly revised bioequivalence guidance issued by MFDS.

  • Flame deflector is an important plan item for protecting propulsion system model, test facility, and life. This study suggests the way of flame deflector design in test facility evaluating performance of 75 ton and 300ton PSM. The flame deflector height was designed as 30m using a slope way in establishment location of facility. The flame deflector suitability was considered according to the shape of open and closed type. Also the cooling duct was made as modeling in accordance with core and side injection type.

Mechanical Characteristics of Dredged and Reclaimed Ground with Low Plasticity from Western Coastal Site (서해안 저소성 준설매립 지반의 역학적 특성)

  • When carrying out design for soft ground improvement before reclamation of dredged soil, it is very important to appropriately evaluate design parameters such as compression index and undrained strength in order to estimate optimum construction cost. In this study, consolidation and strength parameters were estimated by the samples obtained from the similar reclaimed land. Water content and compression index of dredged soil reclaimed by hydraulic fill method were quite decreased in comparison with those of in-situ conditions at Incheon site. Relationships between compression index(Cc) and water content (wn), and between undrained strength (su) and water content (wn) for dredged soil were obtained by field vane test and oedometer test, respectively. Applicability of Schmertmann correction method (compression index) for low plasticity silty soil was discussed according to comparison with designed and measured settlements.

  • Inlet distortion test was performed at Korea Aerospace Research Institute in order to evaluate the degradation of engine performance under the distorted inlet condition. In this paper, only the inlet pressure distortion was taken into consideration. During the development process of the inlet distortion test technique, variable distortion screen was designed and evaluated under various test conditions to establish the experimental database of distortion for engine test. The result of inlet distortion test for engine shows that the operating point was changed toward the worse direction and the degradation of engine performance by inlet distortion was verified.
