The Reliability-Based Design Optimization for the Military Communication Equipment considering the Design Uncertainty (설계 불확실성이 고려된 군용 통신 장비의 신뢰성 기반 최적설계)

  • The military communication equipment is required the high reliability for operating adequate functions under severe conditions. This reliability is the essential element for the quality of the product, for the uncontrolled factors, such as the clearance, damage of the material, the reduction of stiffness, which are the designer is unable to handle. In this paper, the uncertainty for the design was supposed to the probability model for the military communication equipment, and the average of the objective function was minimized for reducing design uncertainty. The reliability-based design optimization which was implemented the limit state function was formulated into the mathematical model, so the reliable optimized structure was implemented than the base-line design.

  • This paper presents a robust aeroelastic control methodology of a two dimensional flapped wing system exposed to an incompressible flow field. A robust controller is designed using a linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach for the multiobjective synthesis. The design objectives are to achieve a mix of $H_{\infty}$ performance and H₂ performance satisfying constraints on the closed loop pole locations in the presence of model uncertainties. Numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of LMI approach in damping out the aeroelastic response of 3-DOF flapped wing system.

Some Criteria for Optimal Experimental Design at Multiple Extrapolation Points (다중 외삽점에서의 최적 실험설계법을 위한 실험설계기준)

  • When setting up an experiment for extrapolation at multiple points outside the design space, we often face a difficulty in which point we should emphasize even if the polynomial model under consideration is given. In this paper we propose various methods under two possible scenarios that deal with extrapolations. One considered in this paper is the situation when the model assumed can be extended beyond the design space. In this setting, the many classical methods(including various approaches the authors proposed before) were revisited in the context of extrapolation. But the real problem arises when there is an uncertainty concerning the validity of the assumed model. Therefore, the second scenario is to develop an appropriate procedure when we have limited information about model. Consequently, a hybrid approach is suggested to deal with this issue of how to handle the multiple extrapolating under model uncertainty. A search algorithm was implemented because the classical exchange algorithm was found difficult to handle the complexity of the problem.

An Alternative Perspective to Resolve Modelling Uncertainty in Reliability Analysis for D/t Limitation Models of CFST (CFST의 D/t 제한모델들에 대한 신뢰성해석에서 모델링불확실성을 해결하는 선택적 방법)

  • For the design of Concrete-Filled Steel Tube(CFST) columns, the outside diameter D to the steel tube thickness t ratio(D/t ratio) is limited to prevent the local buckling of steel tubes. Each design code proposes the respective model to compute the maximum D/t ratio using the yield strength of steel $f_y$ or $f_y$ and the elastic modulus of steel E. Considering the uncertainty in $f_y$ and E, the reliability index ${beta}$ for the local buckling of a CFST section can be calculated by formulating the limit state function including the maximum D/t models. The resulted ${beta}$ depends on the maximum D/t model used for the reliability analysis. This variability in reliability analysis is due to ambiguity in choosing computational models and it is called as "modelling uncertainty." This uncertainty can be considered as "non-specificity" of an epistemic uncertainty and modelled by constructing possibility distribution functions. In this study, three different computation models for the maximum D/t ratio are used to conduct reliability analyses for the local buckling of a CFST section and the reliability index ${beta}$ will be computed respectively. The "non-specific ${beta}s$" will be modelled by possibility distribution function and a metric, degree of confirmation, is measured from the possibility distribution function. It is shown that the degree of confirmation increases when ${beta}$ decreases. Conclusively, a new set of reliability indices associated with a degree of confirmation is determined and it is allowed to decide reliability index for the local buckling of a CFST section with an acceptable confirmation level.

Sliding-Mode Control of Container Cranes (컨테이너크레인 시스템의 슬라이딩모드제어)

  • In this paper, as an anti-sway control strategy of container cranes, we investigate a variable structure control in which the moving load follows a given trajectory, whereas both the trolley and hoist controllers achieve their positioning problems. It is crucial, in an automated container terminal, that collisions should be avoided during the transference of containers from one place to another. It is also necessary, in the case of a quay crane, to select suitable loading and unloading trajectories of containers, so that possible collisions with surrounding obstacles are avoided. After a brief introduction of the mathematical model, a robust control scheme (i.e., a second-order sliding mode control that guarantees a fast and precise transference and a suppression of the resulted swing) is presented. Despite model uncertainties and unmodeled actuators dynamics, the swing suppression from the given trajectory is obtained by constraining the system motion on suitable sliding surfaces, which include both the desired path and the swing angle. The proposed controller has been tested with a laboratory-size pilot crane. Experimental results are provided.

Structural vibration control using $H_{\infty}$ control theory : unceratinty model ($H_{\infty}$제어이론을 이용한 구조진동제어 - 불확실성 모델)

  • 제어이론의 역사적 발전사를 고찰해보면 1930년대부터 1960년대까지를 고전 제어(classical control) 시대로 분류되고 이때 주로 사용되었던 용어들은 주파수역(frequency domain)에서 사용된 개념인 극점(pole), 영점(zero), Nyquist, 근궤적(root-Locus) 선도(plot)등으로 대표된다. 그 다음단계인 현대 제어(modern control) 시대 (1960년대-1980년대)때는 새로운 개념들이 도입 되었는데 시간역(time domain)에서 사용되는 상태공간(state-space) 모델, 가제어성(controllability), 가관측성(observability), Kalman 필터, LQG 제어 등이다. 1980년대부터 현재까지를 강인제어(robust control) 시대로 분류하는데 이것의 특징들은 극점이나 영점 대신 상태공간 모델을 사용하여 주파수역에서 정의되는 개념들인 H$_{\infty}$ 합성법, .$\mu$ 해석법, LQG/LTR 및 QFT, Lyapunov 등으로 대표된다. 현대제어시대때는 제어기 K는 공칭 플랜트 모델 G$_{0}$를 기준으로 설계되었으나 실제로 공칭 플랜트 모델은 실제 플랜트와 항상 같을 수가 없었다. 따라서 실제 플랜트 G는 G=G$_{0}$ + .DELTA.G로 표현되며 여기서 .DELTA.G는 플랜트 불 확실성(plant uncertainty), 즉 실제 플랜트와 공칭 플랜트의 차이를 나타낸 다. 이 플랜트 불확실성은 제어기가 실제 응용되어 사용되었을 때 제대로 작동하지 않는 주요 이유중에 하나이다. 이와 같은 상황에서 안정도 강인성 (stability robustness) 및 성능 강인성(performance rosubtness)의 보장은 상 당히 중요한 문제로 대두되었으며 주어진 플랜트 불확실성하에서 이러한 강이성들이 보장되는 제어이론들 중 H$_{\infty}$ 제어이론이 많이 연구/응용 되고 있다. 특히 공칭 플랜트 모델과 함께 사용되는 플랜트 모델과 함께 사용되는 플랜트 불확실성 모델은 직접적으로 성능 및 안정도에 영향을 미치므로 주의 깊게 선정해야 한다.

The effect of Internal control over financial reporting on probability of firm failure (내부회계관리제도가 기업실패가능성에 미치는 영향)

  • According to COSO(2013) "Internal control is a process that is designed to provide reasonable assurance that a firm can achieve its objectives, where differing aspects of internal control can be partitioned into operating objectives, reporting objectives, and compliance objectives." Internal control over financial reporting(ICFR) is focus on reporting objectives and includes that provide reasonable assurance regarding prevention or timely detection of unauthorized acquisition, use or disposition of the company's assets that could have a material effect on the financial statements. Thus, firms with weak ICFR have negative a effect on Firm value because those firms are great likelihood of misappropriation and inefficiency decision. In this regard, this study investigates the association of ICFR with the likelihood of firm failure. Specially, I measure the characteristic of ICFR as disclosures of material weaknesses and operating personnel of ICFR. I identify the likelihood of firm failure as going-concern opinion issued in audit report. As result, I find that a higher probability of firm failure is positively associated with the material weakness in ICFR also I find that a higher probability of firm failure is negatively associated with experience and qualified CPA of personnel in ICFR.
