Identifying Key Competencies Required for STEM Occupations (과학, 기술, 공학, 수학(STEM) 직종에 요구되는 핵심 역량 분석)

  • In modern society, as technology develops and industry diversifies, students can choose from a variety of career paths. Since science, technology, engineering, and mathematics require a longer education and experience than other fields, it is important to design science education policies based on the competencies required for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) occupations. This study explores the definition of science and technology manpower and STEM occupations and identifies core competencies of STEM occupations using standard job information operated and maintained by the US Department of Labor ($O^*NET$). We specially analyzed ratings of the importance of skills (35 ratings), knowledge (33 ratings), and work activities (41 ratings) conducting descriptive analysis and principal component analysis (PCA). As a result, core competencies of STEM occupations consist of STEM problem-solving competency, Management competency, Technical competency, Social service competency, Teaching competency, Design competency, Bio-chemistry competency, and Public service competency, which accounts for 70% of the total variance. This study can be a reference for setting the curriculum and educational goals in secondary and college education by showing the diversity of science and technology occupations and the competencies required for STEM occupations.

Engineering Design Education based on Three Essential Design Technology Factors (설계기술역량 3요소 기반의 공학설계 교육)

  • It is a fact that current engineering education is insufficient to cultivate engineers who can fulfill industrial demands. Engineering colleges and the government have expended much effort to develop new education model to overcome these shortcomings. The purpose of the present research is to formulate direction of engineering design education to cultivate talented engineers meeting engineering and industrial needs. We compared and analyzed Creative Design Project (3) (a core subject in engineering design) from the feedback of practising engineers, professors and students based on essential design technology factors and the educational achievement contents of ABEEK. The three essential factors of design technology which are prerequisites for the designers to implement design work were selected by surveying experts in the field of device design of cellular phone company. Moreover, educational purpose of the professors, educational achievement of the students, and educational direction of industry needs are deduced based on the three factors. It is also ascertained that Creative Design Project (3) meets most of the requirements of industrial design field by comparing and analyzing deduced results.

  • The purpose of the study is to draw competencies of faculty members at graduate school faculty to implements the NCS-based curriculum. A set of competency was deductively derived from a total of three professors and consultants with more than ten-year experiences and has been involved in developing the college curriculum. The political endeavors of the Korean government toward the competency-based education have been implemented as a movement to the NCS-based curriculum. The requirements for the reorganization of curriculum and education system as well as cooperation among faculty, industry, region and development part of NCS were suggested for the activation of NCS based education and the operation of NCS. However, one of the most critical factors in introducing and implementing the NCS-based curriculum is the role of faculty members. Therefore, it is an urgent issue to equip the faculties with required competencies. Result showed that the competencies required professors at graduate school for the NCS-based curriculum implementation were classified into four areas: marco-level curriculum development; micro-level course design; knowledge across areas; and attitude across areas.

  • 컴포넌트 기반 개발 프로세스는 그 동안의 구조적 분석/설계 기법과 정보공학, 객체지향 등의 공학적 분석기술을 수용하고 있다. 따라서 CBD를 적용하려는 조직은 다양한 소프트웨어 공학적 기법과 아키텍처 설계 기술들을 습득해야 하였다. 또한 CBD의 핵심 역량인 반복적 개발 프로세스와 아키텍처 설계 역량을 갖추기 위해 각 개발업체 들은 CBD기술의 도입초기에 상당한 혼돈과 어려움을 겪어야 했다. 이에 본 논문에서는 CBD를 조직차원에서 습득하고 적용하는 과정을 5개의 단계로 나누고 각 단계의 목표를 설정한 컴포넌트 개발 프로세스 성숙도 모형을 제시한다. CDMM(Component based Development capability Maturity Model)으로 명명한 본 개발 능력 성숙도 모형은 소프트웨어 개발조직이 CBD를 습득하기 위해 어떤 단계를 거쳐야 하는지 또한 컴포넌트 개발을 위한 핵심기술이 어떤 것들인지를 제시한다. 이는 향후 CBD를 확산시키고 컴포넌트 기술을 통한 생산성향상과 소프트웨어 개발비 절감을 위해 기업과 국가의 정책적 지표로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

Design and Development of Competency Based Career Development System : A case study of IT companies (역량중심 경력개발 시스템 개발 : 중소기업 사례)

  • The purpose of this study is to design and develop competency based career development system for mid size IT company employees to support HRD(Human Resource Development) & HRM (Human Resource Menagement). Although many researches have been done in terms of employees career and competency development in corporate environment, there are not many cases to analyze mid size companies because small companies have limited number of employees and budget to develop career development system. This study analyzed 55 subjects to analyze their current competency level and job description in two mid size IT companies to design and develop competency based career development system. Three career paths such as R&D, management, and marketing, were common in IT companies and each suitable career development plan was recommended. The results of this study are able to provide self diagnostic competency based career development system for mid size company employees to improve their job performance and administration efficiency as a consequence.

The Design of Training Contents for Marine Accident Investigators (해양사고조사관 교육 콘텐츠 설계)

  • The Korea Maritime Safety Tribunal is an institution that investigates marine accidents in accordance with the maritime safety adjudication procedure when marine accidents occur. It requires its investigators to be capable in specializing in marine accidents, including possessing the following: a level 2 or higher maritime license, experience on boarding, and specialized knowledge on ships. It also requires separate training for technical competency related to maritime accident investigations. However, the current education for marine accident investigators mainly consists of administrative tasks, which is not suitable to improving the investigator's technological competency, making its development urgent. This study aims to design training contents for marine accident investigators to strengthen their technical competence. To this end, we analyzed the contents of current investigator training, and reviewed the relevant laws and regulations, and training contents of investigators in advanced maritime countries and similar transportation institutions in Korea. According to the results, the training contents were designed to focus on strengthening technical competency, and proposed as a five-day course for basic and professional training. Based on the designed training contents, if in-depth research is conducted by sufficiently reflecting the working conditions of marine accident investigators in Korea, it will greatly help in improving the investigators' skills.

  • 최근 다양한 tv프로그램과 문화생활로 인하여 다양한 방면에서 역량을 지닌 '창의 융합형 인재'가 떠오르고 있다. 거기에다가 21세기 사회에 접어들면서 정보 기술의 관심도 높아지고 있으며, 2015 정보과 교육과정이 그 증거를 말해 주고 있다. 그리하여, 본 연구에서는 창의 및 융합형 인재를 양성하겠다는 목표를 달성하기 위하여 교육용 정보역량강화 프로그램을 개발하고자 한다. 여기서 사용하는 게임 엔진은 최근에 떠오르고 있는 '유니티'를 사용할 것이며, 교수설계모형의 기초인 ADDIE 교수설계모형을 적용하여 더욱더 효과적인 교육용 정보역량강화 프로그램을 제작하고자 한다.

청소년 기업가정신 교육이 기업가적 태도와 진로개발역량에 미치는 효과에 대한 연구

  • 본 연구는 과학기술의 발전과 이에 따른 급속한 사회변화 속에서 청소년의 진로를 탐색하고 역량을 높이기 위해 운영되고 있는 기업가정신 교육의 효과성을 밝히는데 목적이 있다. 청소년기는 미래인재로서 진로탐색을 위해 다양한 시도를 해야 할 필요성이 있는 시기이므로 청소년들에게 다양한 기회를 발견하고 활용하여 문제 상황을 해결해보는 경험이 필요하다할 수 있다. 기업가정신의 구성요인은 일반적으로 위험감수성, 진취성, 혁신성을 포함한다. 위험감수성은 불확실한 결과가 예상됨에도 과감히 도전하려는 의지이고, 진취성은 새로운 기회를 선제적 및 적극적으로 포착하기 위한 노력이며, 혁신성이 새로운 변화와 혁신을 선호하고 추구하면서 문제를 해결하려는 노력이라는 점에서 기회와 창의성, 문제해결력이 기업가정신에 중요한 요인에 포함됨을 판단할 수 있다. 청소년 기업가정신 교육의 효과성 측정항목으로 기업가적 태도와 진로개발역량으로 정하고, 기업가적 태도 하위항목으로 기회발견과 창의성 역량을, 창의성 역량의 세부지표로 창의적 문제해결능력, 협력적 의사소통능력, 혁신적 업무행동능력 선정하였다. 진로개발역량의 하위항목으로 진로설계, 개척정신을 정하였으며 진로설계의 세부지표로 자기탐색, 직업탐색, 직업가치관, 진로태도를, 개척정신의 세부지표로 차별화태도, 도전정신을 선정하였다. 이의 측정을 위해 청소년 기업가정신 교육 프로그램을 경기도 소재 중학교 학생들을 대상으로 2020년 9월부터 10월까지 실시하였다. 본 연구결과로 기업가정신 함양 프로그램을 수강한 학생들이 교육을 통하여 어떠한 역량이 높아졌는지에 대한 검증이 가능할 것으로 사료된다. 또한 이러한 효과측정을 통하여 더 나은 교육프로그램을 개발할 수 있는 계기의 마련과 기업가정신 교육에 대한 이해의 폭을 넓혀 기업가정신 교육의 활성화를 기대할 수 있을 것이다.

A Relationship between Innovation Capability and Performance: Differences in Firm Development Stages (중소기업의 기술혁신역량과 혁신성과의 관계: 성장단계별 차이)

  • Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) endeavor to overcome the adverse resource conditions and secure competitive advantage through technological innovation capability. Prior studies have focused on the overall or specific dimensions of technological innovation capability, and examined their performance impact. However, there has been less scholarly attention on the dynamic characteristics such as the relative importance of technological innovation capability or its performance impact at the different growth stages of a firm. In this vein, this study investigates the relationship between SME innovation capability and innovation performance at each growth stages of a firm. Based on the empirical analysis of manufacturing SMEs in Korea, we found that all dimensions of technological innovation capability had positive effects on innovation performance. However, each dimension of technological innovation capability had different effect on innovation performance by the growth stages. The planning capability can improve innovation performance at the growth and maturity stages. Manufacturing capability can have positive effect on innovation performance at the maturity stage. Both of new product development capability and commercialization capability contribute to innovation performance at all of the growth stages. This study suggests the guidelines for enhancing technological innovation capability at the different growth stages of SMEs. It also provides policy implications for the design and operation of growth-stage specific programs. Finally, the limitations of the research and future research directions are presented.

효과적인 공학 설계교육에 대하여

  • 입문공학$\rightarrow$전공기초$\rightarrow$CAD$\rightarrow$해석프로그램$\rightarrow$센서 설계로 구성되는 흐름도로부터 각전공 능력은 전문기능보다는 공학의 가치를 부여하는 창희적 설계 역량에 중점을 두어야 함을 보였다. $\blacktriangleright$결국 담당 교수나 흐름 체계를 구성하는 학제는 일반적이고 보편적인 공학 설계 기술을 포함하는 고유하고 창의적인 새로운 교육체계를 스스로 계획해야 한다. $\blacktriangleright$담당 교수가 꾀하는 교육은 학부 모든 학년을 관통하는 일관성을 가지고 이론과 설계 실습을 병행한 형태로 수행해되어야 한다. $\blacktriangleright$공학 교육에서 현장성을 배제하면 큰 실효가 없으므로 제품과 생산성에 대한 설계 또한 중요하다$\blacktriangleright$이것은 산업체 현장 적응성을 키우는 교육 목적에도 부합하지만 학생 스스로 창의적 아이디어를 도출하고 이것을 제품으로 만들어내는 역량을 도모하는 것에 더 큰의미를 두는것이 바람직하다. 현대 공학기술이 빠르게 발전하는 것을 고려한다면 담당교수와 교육흐름 체계는 항상 변화를 추구해야 한다. 이것이 공학 교육을 통한 공학 설계 창의성 개발의 성공을 이룰 수 있는 기반인 것으로 판단된다.
