The water line moving on the intertidal flat during a flood indicates depth contours between low and high water lines. The water lines extracted from the consecutive images are rectified to get the ground coordinates of each depth contour and integrated to provide three dimensional information of Intertidal flat topography. The tidal flat outside Saemankeum-1 sea dike shows the most obvious changes of tidal flat topography after the construction of sea dikes. This tidal flat topography was observed using digital camera images, and the calculated depths were very similar to in-situ measurement data. Topography changes obtained from two different period data were also examined.

This study is focused on the analysis of road extracting accuracy from the high resolution IKONOS satellite image data. A geometric correction of the image is performed using the RFM and interpretation with the screen digitizing is also performed for extracting the roads information. For the evaluation of road extracting accuracy, the road locations and the road widths are compared with the national digital map. The comparison results shows that the road boundary and the size of road width are able to extract with the geometric accuracy of $\pm$3.4m and $\pm$1.1m.

Contour detection is important for many computer vision applications, such as shape discrimination and object recognition. In many cases, local luminance changes turn out to be stronger in textured areas than on object contours. Therefore, local edge features, which only look at a small neighborhood of each pixel, cannot be reliable indicators of the presence of a contour, and some global analysis is needed. The novelty of this operator is that dilation is limited to Deluanary triangular. An efficient implementation is presented. The grouping algorithm is then embedded in a multi-threshold contour detector. At each threshold level, small groups of edges are removed, and contours are completed by means of a generalized reconstruction from markers. Both qualitative and quantitative comparison with existing approaches prove the superiority of the proposed contour detector in terms of larger amount of suppressed texture and more effective detection of low-contrast contour.
This study conducts a comprehensive analysis of the curricular progression of the concepts and learning sequences of 'lines', specifically, 'line segments', 'straight lines', and 'rays', at the elementary school level. By examining mathematics curricula and textbooks, spanning from 2nd to 7th and 2007, 2009, 2015, and up to 2022 revised version, the study investigates the timing and methods of introducing these essential geometric concepts. It also explores the sequential delivery of instruction and the key focal points of pedagogy. Through the analysis of shifts in the timing and definitions, it becomes evident that these concepts of lines have predominantly been integrated as integral components of two-dimensional plane figures. This includes their role in defining the sides of polygons and the angles formed by lines. This perspective underscores the importance of providing ample opportunities for students to explore these basic geometric entities. Furthermore, the definitions of line segments, straight lines, and rays, their interrelations with points, and the relationships established between different types of lines significantly influence the development of these core concepts. Lastly, the study emphasizes the significance of introducing fundamental mathematical concepts, such as the notion of straight lines as the shortest distance in line segments and the concept of lines extending infinitely (infiniteness) in straight lines and rays. These ideas serve as foundational elements of mathematical thinking, emphasizing the necessity for students to grasp concretely these concepts through visualization and experiences in their daily surroundings. This progression aligns with a shift towards the comprehension of Euclidean geometry. This research suggests a comprehensive reassessment of how line concepts are introduced and taught, with a particular focus on connecting real-life exploratory experiences to the foundational principles of geometry, thereby enhancing the quality of mathematics education.
Driver's capability of identifying the change in freeway alignments and environments is one of important factors associated with traffic safety on freeways. In particular, driver's visibility and recognition capability are highly dependent on the altitude of the sun by sunset, sunrise, and nighttime. The purpose of this study is to identify the characteristics of geometric conditions affecting crash occurrences at sunset, sunrise, and nighttime. Poisson and negative binomial regressions were adopted to predict freeway crash frequency in this study. Freeway crash data during 2007~2010 were used for developing the crash frequency models. A set of variables representing the characteristics of geometric conditions were identified as significant ones affecting crash occurrences. The results of this study would be useful in deriving effective countermeasures for preventing traffic crashes that mainly occur at sunset, sunrise, and nighttime on freeways.
Vision-based tracking has been proposed as a means to efficiently track a large number of construction resources operating in a congested site. In order to obtain 3D coordinates of an object, it is necessary to employ stereo-vision theories. Detecting and tracking of multiple objects require an entity matching process that finds corresponding pairs of detected entities across the two camera views. This paper proposes an efficient way of entity matching for tracking of construction workers. The proposed method basically uses epipolar geometry which represents the relationship between the two fixed cameras. Each pixel coordinate in a camera view is projected onto the other camera view as an epipolar line. The proposed method finds the matching pair of a worker entity by comparing the proximity of the all detected entities in the other view to the epipolar line. Experimental results demonstrate its suitability for automated entity matching for 3D vision-based tracking of construction workers.
This paper tries to show the formation of 'Kyungpook School' that is a nickname given to mathematicians of Kyungpook National University (KNU). In the early period, the role of professor Park Jung-gi was the most important drive to set the research tradition. He made Korea's first english journal in mathematics, Kyungpook Mathematical Journal KMJ which became a cornerstone for students to join the international academic community. Professor Ki U-hang published the most amount of papers in Korea in 1970s and became a role model for young scholars. In this background, KNU's Topology and Geometry Research Center at KNU was chosen as the only Science Research Center in mathematics in 1989, and KNU's mathematicians could get a long-period support for capable mathematics researchers' community.
As a part of target motion analysis(TMA) with highly noisy bearings-only measurements from a passive sonar system, a nonlinear batch estimator is proposed to provide the initial estimates to a sequential estimator called the modified gain extended Kalman filter(MGEKF). Based on the system observability analysis of passive target tracking, a practical and effective method is suggested to determine the observer maneuvers for improved TMA performance through system observability enhancing. Also suggested is a method to determine observer location for enhanced system observability at the initial phase of TMA from various engagement boundaries which represent the relationship between observer-target relative geometrical data and system observability. The proposed TMA methods are tested by a series of computer simulation runs.

In solar power system, the height and azimuth of the sun are important parameters which control generated power magnitude. The tracking method that controls the daily generation magnitude according to latitude and longitude using the two axles is often used in the existing sunlight tracking system today. In this two-axle PV track control system, the self-load is concentrated on one FRAME. It is influenced of the regular load, snow load and the wind load, etc. It is difficult to set up the system in the conventional building. This research is a development about the small-scale economy track device of independent load-dispersing solar generation system. The position tracking algorithm is through the new coordinates transformation calculating the height and azimuth of the sun.
Geodetic surveying using precise GPS equipment are used without analysis with a statistical verification of GPS observed value and it was preformed by necessity to integration projection of digital topographic map and nautical Chart for integration geographic information system construction. The purpose of this study proposes method that improve accuracy of GPS observed value and direction that integrally manage digital topographic map and electronic nautical chart in analyzing the boundary line error between digital topographic map and nautical Chart. For improvement of the precision of GPS observed value, the author studied precision-analysis of GPS observed value by geometric strength and variance factor in 3 control points used in GPS network adjustment. And like this, produce EDM measurement using this GPS observation results and compare the whole boundary point error when set digital topographic map and nautical chart by these boundary.
