A Development of Constrained Control Allocation for Ship Berthing by Using Autonomous Tugboats (터그보트를 이용한 선박접안제어기술 개발에 관한 연구)

  • 접안을 위해 선박이 안벽으로 접근할 때나, 좁은 항내에서 선박을 조종할 때는 항해 중에서보다 많은 제약이 따른다. 그것은 대형 선박일수도 분 관성력으로 인해 효과적인 제어가 어렵기 때문이다. 그래서 터그보트를 수동적으로 제어하여 선박을 접안시키는 것이 현재로선 가장 일반적이 접안기술이라 할 수 있다. 지능적인 제어기술을 적용하여 자동접안을 시도하려는 연구결과가 보고되고 있으나, 대부분이 auto-pilot 기술에 지나지 않으며 어느 것 하나 안정적인 접안을 위한 접안기술로 볼 수 없다. 이와 같이 터그보트를 이용할 수밖에 없는 현실이라면, 보다 효과적인 터그보트 제어기술을 기반으로 한 접안지원시스템을 개발하는 것이 우선일 것이다. 그래서 본 논문에서는 터그보트의 원격제어를 통해 모선을 효과적이고 안정적으로 접안하는 문제에 대해 고찰하였다. 즉, 터그보트로 조종되는 선박조종시스템에 대한 모델링을 수행하고, 터그보트로부터 발생되는 제어력을 적절히 분배하여 모선을 제어하는 새로운 접안지원시스템을 개발하였다. 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안된 시스템의 유효성을 검증하였다.

Prediction of Maneuverability of a Ship in the Initial Design Stage (초기설계시(初期設計時) 선박(船舶)의 조종성능(操縱性能) 추정(推定)에 관한 연구)

  • The assessment of maneuverability of a ship is very important from the view point of safety of human beings and of pollution of ocean. And, it is quite natural that every ship yard wants to have some tools with which they can build a ship with good maneuverability. But, maneuvarability of a ship is very subtle problem, and to calculate the exact maneuvering motion, lots of captive model tests must be carried out. Futhermore, in the initial design stage we can not make the scale model, because the lines of a ship is not fixed. In this paper, some approximate method to calculate the maneuvering motion of a ship, with the principal dimensions of hull, and propeller, rudder characteristics only, is studied. And, proposed approximate method is used to calculate the turning and zig-zag maneuver of several ships. The results of those calculations and the usability of the method are discussed.

Numerical Study on Towing Stability of LNG Bunkering Barge in Calm Water (LNG 벙커링 바지의 정수 중 예인안정성에 관한 수치연구)

  • In this paper, the towing stability of the LNG bunker barge was estimated. Currently, LNG bunkering barge is being developed for the bunkering of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas), an eco-friendly energy source. Since the LNG bunkering barge assumes the form of a towed ship connected to the tow line, the towing stability of the LNG bunker barge is crucial f not only for the safety of the LNG bunker barge but also the neighboring sailing vessels. In the initial stages, a numerical code for towing simulation was developed to estimate the towing stability of the LNG bunkering barge. The MMG (Maneuvering Mathematical modeling Group) model was applied to the equations of motion while the empirical formula was applied to the maneuvering coefficients for use in the initial design stage. To validate the developed numerical code, it was compared with published calculation and model test results. Towing simulations were done based on the changing skeg area and the towing position of the LNG bunkering barge using the developed numerical codes. As a result, the suitability of the designed stern skeg area was confirmed.

  • 한국해양수산연수원은 새로 설치된 다기능선박조종시뮬레이터(Full-mission Shiphandling Simulator)에 적합한 평가시스템을 맞추기 위하여 STN Atlas용 Fortran로 개발된 평가시스템을 Visual C++로 새로이 개발하였다. 그리고 이 시스템에 각 항만의 실제 상황을 고려하여 평가 점을 추가하거나 삭제하고, 평가 기준도 수정하였다. 이에 대하여 소개하고자 한다.

  • Most of marine casualties are caused by not only wrong operation of equipments but also lack of knowledge about navigational equipments or systems. But we can say these casualties result from lack of ship handling skill or lack of situational awareness. This study aims to investigate the recent status of SHS and suggest several recommendations such as teaching skills, evaluation skill, etc. to make more efficient crew training with SHS (ship handling simulator).

Maneuvering Performances of a Ship with Flap Rudder (Flap 타를 채택한 선박의 조종성능 특성)

  • In this paper, we studied the maneuvering performances of a ship with flapped rudder. PMM tests were carried out for a ship model with horn type rudder or flapped rudder. The Abkowitz's model was used as a basic mathematical model to simulate the maneuvering motions. The maneuvering motions of a ship with flapped rudder were compared with those of a ship with horn-type rudder. As a result, it was found that the turning ability of a ship with flapped rudder was remarkably improved.

  • Mathematical model of maneuvering motion for a Mobile Harbor is established and versatile applications to the special situations of maneuvering are attempted. The Mobile Harbor in this research has twin Azipod thruster and twin bow thruster. In order to predict the maneuverability of Mobile Harbor, a mathematical model was developed on the basis of MMG model, and some model test results were adopted for the simulation of Mobile Harbor. As a result, the turning motions of the Mobile Harbor were successfully calculated. and the optimal berthing system was completed.

  • In these days, several bridges have been built or under construction over navigational channel in Korea. In these cases there must be careful consideration for the marine safety of vessels to be passed by below the bridge. This paper aims to analyze the factors influencing maritime traffic safety and to figure out ample width of main span of these kinds of bridges through the reference study and FMSS.

  • This paper is mainly concerned with the assessment of safe navigation between ships moving each other in restricted waterways. The manoeuvring simulation was conducted parametrically to propose an appropriate sage speed and distance, which is required to avoid sea accident under the different conditions, such as ship-velocity ratios, ship-length ratios, separation and stagger between ships. The manoeuvring characteristics based on this investigation will be very useful for keeping the safety of navigation from the practical point of ships design and traffic control in confined water.
