Performance Evaluation of IEEE 802.11p Based WAVE Communication Systems at MAC Layer (MAC 계층에서의 IEEE 802.11p 기반 WAVE 통신 시스템의 성능 평가)

  • Vehicular communications have been receiving much attention in intelligent transport systems(ITS) by combining communication technology with automobile industries. In general, vehicular communication can be used for vehicle-to-vehicle(V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure( V2I) communication by adopting IEEE802.11p/1609 standard which is commonly known as wireless access in vehicular environment(WAVE). WAVE system transmits signal in 5.835~5.925 GHz frequency band with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM) signaling. In this paper, after 32 bit processed the channel monitoring in MAC(Media Access Control) layer of WAVE system implemented according to IEEE 802.11p standard, data were received and we evaluated the performance, we built the test bed consisting of OBU(On Board Unit) in the real expressway. We transmitted WSM(WAVE Short Message) and received WSM between OBU wirelessly. And then, we calculated channel occupancy time per one frame and throughput, and evaluated the performance.

  • 한반도 국가바람지도(김현구, 2009)는 한국에너지기술연구원에서 지식경제부의 부처임무사업으로 구축되었으며 현재 웹서비스(http://www.kier-wind.org)를 통하여 정보를 제공하고 있다. 국가바람지도는 수치기상예측(NWP; Numerical Weather Prediction) 모델을 이용하여 영토, 영해에 대해 $1km{\times}1km$의 고해상도로 작성한 뒤(이순환 등, 2009) 풍력자원 정보로 재가공되었다. 한반도 국가바람지도는 5년의 장기간에 대한 시계열 수치기상예측에 의하여 구축되었기 때문에 데이터베이스(DB; database)의 효율적 관리가 필연적으로 요구된다. MM5 또는 WRF 모델의 고유 출력포맷의 자료구조는 풍력자원분석에 필요한 기상요소 외에도 대기과학자에게 필요한 수많은 기상인자를 종합적으로 포함하고 있다. 따라서 2차원 층(layer) 또는 3차원 공간분포 분석 및 계산격자인 셀(cell)에서의 1차원 시계열 분석 등 다양한 자료축출에는 비효율적인 자료구조가 된다. 이러한 자료구조의 불편을 해소하기 위해서는 기상요소별로 독립적이고 빈번한 시계열 자료 추출에 효율성을 가지며 어떤 프로그래밍 언어를 사용하든지 직관적으로 쉽게 사용할 수 있는 바람지도 데이터베이스의 재구성이 요구된다. 이에 대용량 수치자료의 처리 측면에서 장점을 가지는 과학기술 프로그래밍 언어인 IDL을 기반으로 국가바람지도의 자료구조를 효율화하여 데이터베이스화 하였으며 IDL에 내재된 그래픽 기능을 활용하여 가시화를 구현함으로써 연구개발자의 입장에서 국가바람지도의 활용성 및 효율성을 향상시키고자 하였다.

  • In order to prepare for the introduction of the E-Discovery system from the United States and to cope with some causable changes of legal systems, we propose a general E-Discovery process and essential tasks of the each phase. The proposed process model is designed by the analysis of well-known projects such as EDRM, The Sedona Conference, which are advanced research for the standardization of E-Discovery task procedures and for the supply of guidelines to hands-on workers. In addition, Machine Learning Algorithms, Open-source libraries for the Information Retrieval and Distributed Processing technologies based on the Hadoop for big data are introduced and its application methods on the E-Discovery work scenario are proposed. All this information will be useful to vendors or people willing to develop the E-Discovery service solution. Also, it is very helpful to company owners willing to rebuild their business process and it enables people who are about to face a major lawsuit to handle a situation effectively.

Road Supply and Generated Traffic (고속도로 투자로 인한 유발교통량 분석에 관한 연구)

  • This paper estimates relationships between the supply of national highways, measured in lane-km, and the quantity of traffic, measured in vehicle-km traveled. The analysis uses a panel data set of annual observations for the years 1984 to 2003. By using a log-linear lag effect model designed to capture short and long term effects, the paper estimates that national highway vehicle-km traveled has a lane-km elasticity of 0.268 at the country level (Non-Seoul Metropolitan area) and 0.41 at the Seoul metropolitan area for the short term. For the long term, the paper estimates 0.8 for the country level and 1.23 for the Seoul metropolitan area. This paper finds conclusive evidence that increases in highway lane-miles have generated traffic over the period of study, however the increasing ratio of the generated traffic decreases gradually, particularly during the late 1980s.

  • The rapid increase of Internet users, diversity of application services, high speed data transmission, and extension of application areas have resulted in exponential growth of Internet traffic. In order to satisfy the increasing demand of bandwidth, the MPλS protocol, which is based on MPLS for efficient integration of WDM and IP protocols, has been suggested by IETF. In this paper, we present an MPλS simulator which enables to simulate various MPλS function such as optical crossconnect (OXC), multi-wavelength links, routing and wavelength assignment(RWA), and MPλS signaling and control. The simulator is developed based on the ns-2, an widely used multi-protocol network simulator. The function of the simulator is validated by running many simulation based on various scenarios and performance measures such as throughput and blocking probability. The simulator could be widely utilized for validation of proposed protocols before developing real optical network systems.

An interleaver to reduce the edge-effect in turbo codes with CRC (CRC를 사용한 터보부호에서 edge-effect를 감소시키기 위한 인터리버)

  • In the next generation mobile communications, powerful channel coding is essential in order to obtain high quality multimedia services. Turbo code can achieve good error performance by iterative decoding, but more iterations result in additional computational complexity and delay. Thus, a method to reduce the number of iterations without additional performance degradation is needed. Turbo code with CRC is known to be the most efficient method to reduce the number of iterations. In this scheme, the performance may be degraded by the edge-effect like the conventional turbo code without CRC. In this paper, a method to eliminate the edge-effect is proposed by adopting D-parameter to the conventional s-random interleaver. As results of simulation, the edge-effect of the turbo code with CRC is shown to be successfully eliminated by using the new interleaver designed with D-parameter.

  • Recently, some studies of a web-based information recommendation technique which provides users with the most necessary information through websites like a web-based shopping mall have been conducted vigorously. In most cases of web information recommendation techniques which rely on a user profile and a specific feedback from users, they require accurate and diverse profile information of users. However, in reality, it is quite difficult to acquire this related information. This paper is aimed to suggest an information prediction technique for a web information service without depending on the users'specific feedback and profile. To achieve this goal, this study is to design and implement a Dynamic Web Information Prediction System which can recommend the most useful and necessary information to users from a large volume of web data by designing and embodying Ensemble Support Vector Machine and hybrid SOM algorithm and eliminating the scarcity problem of web log data.

Dynamic VBR traffic characterization for video service in ATM network (ATM 망에서 비디오 서비스를 위한 동적 VBR 트래픽 특성화)

  • This paper is focused on the traffic characterization for the efficient transmission of the VBR video source in the ATM network. For the traffic characterization, low traffic monitoring technique is applied and the dynamic VBR characterization method is suggested to satisfy the delay requirement. The dynamic VBR method uses the token bucket algorithm buffering though Cumulative Constraint Function. According to the Cumulative Constraint Function, the packet initially started transferring at the peak rate and the token bucket provided proper amount of buffer for traffic after a certain period of monitoring. It also reduced the network resource bandwidth through renewal of the cumulative frame and changed the rate from the previous frame information. It requires only small amount of monitoring and causes little overhead. In addition, it lowered the complexity of Deterministic Constraint Function to 0(n) and mapped the token rate and token depth to the token bucket. This study shows less network resource consumed than the previous method, comparing and analyzing the result of simulations.

  • As emergence of the ubiquitous society, it is possible to access the network for services needed to us in anytime and anywhere. The phenomena has been accelerated by revitalization of the sensor network offering the sensing information and data. Currently, sensor network contributes the convenience for various services such as environment monitoring, health care and home automation. However, sensor network has a weak point compared to traditional network, which is easily exposed to attacker. For this reason, messages communicated over the sensor network, are encrypted with symmetric key and transmitted. A number of symmetric cryptography algorithms have been researched. Among of them HIGHT algorithm in hardware and software implementation are more efficient than tradition AES in terms of speed and chip size. Therefore, it is suitable to resource constrained devices including RFID tag, Sensor node and Smart card. In the paper, we present the optimized software implementation on the ultra-light symmetric cryptography algorithm, HIGHT.

  • e-Navigation strategy IMO promotes is defined as it is necessary to network to provide various maritime safety information to in land and on board users, and it is expected to provide a large amount and diverse kinds of maritime spatial information services to them frequently. However, as there are some limits to transmit that by current mobile maritime communication technologies, it is required to simplify and optimize the information. In this study, tree node and convex hull method is applied to S-100 SD spatial information to generalize and we arranged the efficiency and effect of generalization by storing in XML form which can be used in general.
