A Mode Switching Protocol between RVOD and NVOD for Efficient VOD Services (효율적인 VOD 서비스를 위한 RVOD와 NVOD간의 전환 프로토콜)

  • Recently, as network environment has broadened, the demands on VOD have been increased. The VOD services can be categorized into two types, RVOD and NVOD. Practical VOD services adopt one of them exclusively. Since a method using only one of RVOD and NVOD is not able to deal with frequently variable demand of clients, it leads to a result of overload on a server and a waste of server bandwidth. The efficiency of the network resource usage becomes lower. Hence this paper presents a study on the protocol for efficient VOD services. We propose a new protocol appliable for the existing VOD service algorithm, analyze its performance through simulation, and developed server/client systems applying the new protocol. We propose a mode switching protocol combined with protocols used in RVOD and NVOD. The proposed protocol is not able only to control both RVOD and NVOD but also to change the mode between RVOD and NVOD. As a result of using the proposed protocol to meet frequently variable demand, server bandwidth can be used efficiently. Especially, it can be applied to the existing VOD service algorithms. Therefore, we expect that the proposed protocol in this paper will be widely used in emerging VOD markets.

Determinants of the Users' Intention to Retain the Monthly Movie Subscription VOD in the Pay-TV:A Dual Model of Dedication-Based and Constraint-Based Mechanisms (유료방송 영화 VOD 월정액 서비스 이용자의 가입유지의도에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구: 자의기반과 구속기반 메커니즘의 이원적 모형을 중심으로)

  • This study investigates the factors influencing to users' intention to retain monthly movie subscription VOD service in the Pay-TV. A dual model of a dedication-based mechanism and constraint-based mechanism used as the analytical framework for the service subscription retention. This study surveyed the total of 366 respondents who aged 15 years or older among the subscribers who use monthly movie subscription VOD service in Pay-TV from May 8 to May 14, 2018 through online surveys. And the study used SPSS 25 and AMOS 21 for data analysis. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, the price, the contents diversity and the ease of use were found to affect the user satisfaction. From three components, the price is the most effective and the ease of use is the next. Second, user satisfaction were found to affect the intention to retain a subscription in the dedication-based mechanism. Third, procedural switching cost were found to affect the intention to retain a subscription in the constraint-base mechanism.

  • The aim of this paper is to come up with a methodology of migration for current transportation digital map in order to construct NDRM, which is the most essential map data for car navigation system. The model suggested through our study is able to efficiently produce navigable service map for route finding and guidance as well as to make the best of general road network developed by KOTI.

  • Richmedia Service means that interactive media service can provide view with various multimedia elements(such as Video, Audio, Text) at same time. Various Multimedia elements can be serviced by Scene Description technology standards like BIFS(Binary Format for Scenes) and LASeR(Light Application Scene Representation). By providing Scene Component information, richmedia service is available to various multimedia services. so users is available to personalized services fitting temporal and spatial options. In conventional technology, when the scene is changed by user or service, mobile deletes the scene of configuration information and makes new scene of configuration information. this is a very inefficient way. In this paper, Propoesed that by using DOM(Document Object Model) method, to pass only the dynamic configuration part, changes scene method.

  • As competition increases among ports, new marketing strategies and differentiated means in addition to the existing core services are needed to prevent existing container shipping companies from escaping and to attract new customers. The additional services and reward programs are investigated. How these variables affect relational commitment in terms of customer retention is examined. Customers of the container terminals are examined in terms of psychological behavior. This study presents the structural equation model that shows the connection among benefits, rewards, switching costs and relational commitment. The empirical analysis is done with the subject of the container terminal users and the implications are derived.

  • This study investigates the behavior of users using delivery apps as non-face-to-face lifestyles accelerated due to the 4th industrial revolution era and Covid 19. Specifically, this study examines the effect of customers' perceived service quality on the conversion cost, customer satisfaction, and continuous use intention. Based on the results, the main purpose of this study is to provide useful information and implications for entrants (restaurants) who have signed up and operated and platforms that connect customers, restaurants, and delivery people.

  • With the advances in information technologies and the wide acceptance of IT outsourcing practices, subscription-based information & telecommunications services(ITS) become more available. Convergence and intensified industry competition have made it an imperative for the ITS providers to keep their current customers and acquire new customers at the same time. In this study, we developed a framework for effective customer management based on the factors influencing the post-purchase customer choice: stay with the present provider or switch to another one. Specifically, we classified the factors into four categories: Holding factors, Defect factors, Inducement factors, and Hurdle factors depending on the characteristics of the influence and direction of the influence. Based on the classification, we developed a post-purchase customer choice model for the subscription-based ITS providers. Then, we illustrated a possible application of the model in the context of the broadband Internet access service. The model could be used to increase the competitive advantage of service providers through the effective customer management in the subscription-based ITS market.

  • Recently wireless data services have widely spread on various multimedia devices such as smart phones and tablets. Existing wired data services have been replaced by wireless data services using mobile devices. Especially domestic mobile devices supporting both Wireless-Fidelity (Wi-Fi) and long term evolution (LTE) services have increased steadily. While Wi-Fi network is provided free of charge, LTE network is offered to pay for. Therefore, mobile devices provide smart network switch to support both preferred Wi-Fi and LTE networks. However, such handover and roaming between Wi-Fi and LTE networks can cause data connection stop in spite of charged data services. This paper has proposed the method to overcome data connection stop for guaranteeing seamless data service during handover and roaming procedures between networks.
