The purpose of this study was to investigate the ability to treat and prevent infection by multiple Gram-negative bacterial pathogens as a last choice option in the treatment of serious infections in clinical settings. The global spread of extended-spectrum 𝛽-lactamases (ESBLs) and/or carbapenemases in microorganisms are of enormous concern to health services because they are often associated with multi-drug resistance which significantly restricts the antibiotic treatment options. In this study, the antimicrobial resistance profiles of bacteria isolated from South Korean market-derived meat samples were determined by the disc diffusion method. PCR was used to detect the presence of antibiotic resistance genes and ESBL producing genes. In total, we tested 181 isolated colonies from 36 market-derived meat samples. Single PCR and DNA sequencing results revealed that genes blaVIM, blaBIC, blaKPC, and blaSIM were present in the bacteria isolated from retail meat. The bacteria in the meat were separately sequenced and based on alignment, four different bacteria were identified. These findings suggest that bacteria found in retail meats are a reservoir for the spreading of ESBL blaVIM, blaBIC, blaKPC, and blaSIM resistance genes and bacteria strains.
As more people share their opinions in online communities, such as Internet portals and social networking services, more opinions are manipulated for the benefit of particular individuals and groups. In particular, when manipulations occur for political purposes, they influence election results as well as government policies and the quality of life. This type of manipulation has targeted the general public, and their analysis and detection has also focused on such manipulation. However, to more efficiently spread propaganda, recent manipulations have targeted common interest groups(e.g., a group of those interested in real estate) and propagated information whose content and style are customized to those groups. This work characterizes such manipulations on common interest groups and proposes method to detect manipulations. To this end, we collected and analyzed opinions posted on 10 common interest groups before and after an election. As a result, we found that manipulations on common interest groups indeed occurred and were gradually increasing toward the election date. We also proposed a detection system that examines individual opinions, their authors, and their collaborators. Using the collected opinions, we demonstrated that the proposed system can accurately classify more than 90% of manipulated opinions and that many of these opinions were posted by multiple collaborators. We believe that regular audits of opinions using the proposed system can quickly isolate manipulations and decrease their impact. Moreover, the proposed features can be used to identify manipulations in domains other than politics.
To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the Korean Association of Small Business Studies, this study reviewed research papers on the subject of entrepreneurship in the Asia Pacific Journal of Small Business. For 40 years, the subjects of entrepreneurship-related studies published in this journal were relatively limited and the number of articles was very few. The research papers mainly focus on defining entrepreneurship as an innovation or as a determinant of innovation and survey-based empirical studies have been conducted since the publication of the Entrepreneurial Orientation(EO) by Lumpkin and Dess(1996). Although entrepreneurship is a research field that can be approached from various perspectives such as economics, sociology, psychology, cultural anthropology, and organization theory, most of the papers published in the Asia Pacific Journal of Small Business do not clearly state their theoretical positions or viewpoints. Moreover, there are few studies that incorporate corporate entrepreneurs or startup teams although they have been major actors or entrepreneurship. Lastly, innovation has been the main focus of research, leaving other arenas such as opportunity recognition and discovery understudied. In order to increase the quantity and improve the quality in the entrepreneurship research, we need to have the entrepreneurship field as one academic section in the Asia Pacific Journal of Small Business.
Objective : This study aimed to investigate the awareness and experience of community-based dysphagia therapy and related education in community-dwelling older adults. Methods : A total of 89 older adults were recruited from a public health center in Gyeonggi-do. Awareness, experience, and related education regarding community-based dysphagia therapy were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results : We analyzed 89 questionnaires. Awareness, treatment experience, and education regarding dysphagia were low; however, the importance and intention to participate were high. Respondents wanted education about proper chewing and safe swallowing, oral health, oral motor exercise, and participation in community-based dysphagia programs in public health centers. The reason for the lack of experience in dysphagia education and therapy is insufficient information and opportunities. The respondents had a good understanding of dysphagia symptoms. Conclusion : Dysphagia therapy maintains swallowing and eating functions as a life-long Activity of Daily Living, and is a very important area in community rehabilitation. Based on the results of this survey, the necessity and importance of community-based dysphagia were identified. It is time to provide correct information and develop a systematic education program for community-based dysphagia therapy. Occupational therapists need to play an active role in improving quality of life by early detection and providing proper intervention.

The purpose of this study was (a) to identify latent profiles among employed Korean mothers of third graders based on work-family conflict, work-family enrichment, work-parenting conflict, and work-parenting enrichment, (b) to examine the antecedents of profile membership at the individual, family, work, and community levels, and (c) to investigate the differences in the various psychological outcomes across the profiles. The sample of 451 married employed mothers was a subset of data from the 10th Wave of the Panel Study of Korean Children, which was collected in 2017 when the focal child was in the third grade. Our latent profile analysis suggested a three-profile model that comprised enriched (11.91%), moderate (47.85%), and mixed (40.24%) profiles. The significant antecedents of profile membership were subjective health status, the child's adjustment to school, working hours, the community's suitability for childrearing, and satisfaction with community service facilities. Regarding psychological outcomes, the levels of life satisfaction, marital satisfaction, and job satisfaction were higher in the following order: enriched, moderate, and mixed profiles. The levels of depressive symptoms were in the reverse order: mixed, moderate, and enriched profiles. This study contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the literature on work-family interactions by considering various predictors and outcomes at multiple levels.
There has been criticism that the government-led makerspace did not reflect the actual demand of makers, so there was a limit to performance creation. In this regard, the study aims to diagnose the current status and problems of makerspace and to suggest the implication to respond to policy demand. To this end, we analyzed the current status of makerspace by utilizing the government documents. Then, we conducted a survey of SMEs related to ICT devices that experienced makerspace, and analyzed their opinions on D·N·A technology demand, management difficulties, and governments' support policies. As results, the study proposed several improvement measures to upgrade makerspace as a digital conversion platform as follows. First, due to the nature of the existing industry for introducing D·N·A technology, there is a limit for companies to enter the market on their own, so comprehensive support from the government is needed. Second, it is necessary to establish and expand an empirical test bed for the development of new products and services so that various types of metaverse contents can be discovered and digital transformation convergence models of existing businesses can be derived. Third, by modifying the support method to operate the makerspace as a platform that implements the government-led start-up support policy, boldly transfer what the private sector can do well to the private sector. The participants of Industry·University·Institute Collaboration should freely share ideas and help the common problem be solved. Based on the problems and the findings for improvement, it is expected that the current makerspace would be upgraded to a digital conversion platform suitable for the demand of the field.

The purpose of this study is to identify what factors have impacts on the amount of YouTube viewing. In doing so, usage type, children's levels of self-control on viewing, parent's perception of media contents, and parental mediation style were investigated by age. The result of the study showed no significant differences of the amount of use by the different age groups. There were, however, significant differences in terms of subscription status(non subscription based vs. subscription-based viewing), level of self-control, perception of content, and parent's mediations (technology, supervision, and guidance). Given the amount of YouTube use, the subscription status and parent's supervision were significantly influential factors for the age group of 3-4 years old. For the age group of 5-6, subscription status, levels of self-control, and mediation of parent's supervision and guidance were influential factors. For the age of 7-9, subscription status, the level of self control, and premium service were significantly influential. Finding similarities and differences in meaningful variables by age group suggests that different strategies should be used to reduce the amount of children's YouTube use. In addition, it raises the need for a more detailed classification of children's YouTube usage methods, which have not been addressed so far, and the need for research on the influence of these methods.
The purpose of this study is to understand the experiences of older adults living in the public welfare housing for the elderly and to examine what kind of this housing is as the housing alternative. Through the Robert Stake's intrinsic case study, it explored how older residents experienced this place, and how the relationships between residents, office workers, and community had been in the process, and what kind of issues were there. Various kinds of data, such as resident surveys, participant observations, interviews with 76 elderly residents and 4 office workers, and related newspaper articles, were analyzed using the thematic analysis method and methods suggested by Stake(1995). The results are presented as follows. First, it looked at who lived here and explored what was happening in this place where people of various backgrounds were gathered. Second, four types of life could be seen centering on the social relationship and daily life of older adults. Third, this study examined how the various ways of life were related to the main reasons for moving in here, and summarized how the residents perceived this place. The fourth and the fifth examined the relationships and dynamics among older residents, with office workers, and with the community, focusing on the two issues most commonly mentioned by residents. The results of this study show that, as a living organism, the interaction between the systems affects not only the culture of the housing, but also the lives of older adults. In particular, it can be seen how the perceptions of the practitioners are affecting the lives of the elderly. Based on the results of the study, further considerations were discussed.
The provision of onboard Internet services is recognized as one of the measures to enhance the appeal of seafarers and improve seafarer welfare. This study aims to investigate the influence of seafarers' leisure activities using the Internet on shipboard culture. Shipboard culture was examined using Hofstede's cultural dimensions theory. An empirical analysis was conducted on crewmembers regarding their Internet-based leisure activities and the shipboard culture. As a result, it was observed that sociability activities through the Internet while onboard significantly influenced power distance, uncertainty avoidance, and long-term orientation. The investigation of shipboard culture revealed uncertainty avoidance, masculinity, and long-term orientation, along with low power distance and individualism cultures. In addition, an analysis of shipboard culture according to seafarers' characteristics showed significant differences in certain shipboard cultures based on seafarers' attributes.
TikTok, as a leading short video platform, has attracted many users, and the resulting attention generates immense business value as a platform to diffuse knowledge. As a qualitative and explorative approach, this study reviews the knowledge payment industry and discusses the influential factors of users' payment decisions regarding knowledge products on TikTok. By conducting in-depth interviews with ten participants and observing 95 knowledge providers' videos, we find that TikTok has significant business potential in the knowledge payment industry. By using the ATLAS. ti software to code the data collected from these interviews, this study finds that demander characteristics (personal needs), product characteristics (product quality), provider characteristics (the key opinion leader effect), and platform characteristics (platform management) are the four core categories that influence users' payment decisions regarding knowledge products on TikTok. A theoretical model consisting of the ten variables of emotional needs, professional needs, quality, price, helpfulness, value, charisma, user trust, service guarantee, and scarcity is proposed based on the grounded theory. The theoretical and practical implications of the study findings are also discussed.
