Relationships among Servant leadership perceived by early childhood teacher, Teacher Development Stage and Organizational Effectiveness (유아 교사가 지각하는 서번트 리더십과 교사발달단계와 조직효과성과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of servant leadership, teacher development stage and organizational effectiveness. Subjects in this study were 259 teachers working at kindergartens and child care centers in Seoul and the Capital area of Korea. Servant Leadership Questionnaire(Kim, 2004), Teacher Development Stage Questionnaire(Lee, 2007), Organizational Commitment Questionnaire(Kim, 1998), Job Satisfaction Questionnaire(Kim, 2007), Teacher Job Satisfaction Questionnaire(Noh, 2001), and Job Performance Questionnaire(Kim, 1983) were used. Descriptive statistics, T-tests, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical regression analysis were performed. Results showed that servant leadership, teacher development stage and organizational effectiveness were highly correlated with one another. Variables of servant leadership and teacher development were significant predictors of organizational effectiveness. Conclusions suggest that organizational effectiveness was multiply determined.

The Impact of Servant Leadership Mediated through Self Leadership on Job Attitude - Centered on Hotel Restaurant Employees - (셀프리더십을 매개로 한 서번트 리더십이 직무 태도에 미치는 영향)

  • Hotel practitioners are searching for leadership typology to maximize employees' capabilities and consistency in their attitude. Also, they are increasingly interested in their employees' traits which constitute and influence their job attitude. This study sought to investigate the impact of servant leadership mediated through self-leadership on employees' job attitude. Focused on hotel restaurant employees, representing 15 hotels in Seoul Metropolitan Area, a survey was conducted and 272 respondents out of 297 were empirically analyzed. The collected data was analyzed with the SPSS 12.0 for Windows and AMOS software program. Structural equation modeling was conducted to test the hypotheses. The results suggested that servant leadership has a significant impact on self-leadership. Furthermore, self-leadership was found to have a significant impact on job satisfaction. However, direct influence of self-leadership on organizational commitment was not found. Finally, servant leadership was found to have a direct impact on job satisfaction. On the other hand, servant leadership positively influences on organizational commitment when mediated through self-leadership. In addition, this study provides practical implications for hotel restaurant professionals in linking servant leadership mediated through self-leadership to job attitude.

Influence of a Nutrition Teacher's Servant Leadership on Cooks' Empowerment & Organizational Commitment (영양교사의 서번트 리더십이 조리원의 임파워먼트와 조직몰입에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aimed to identify the influence of a nutrition teacher's servant leadership on cooks' empowerment and organizational commitment in school organization. For this purpose, this study selected 288 cooks working in elementary, middle and high schools located in Daegu city, and conducted a survey toward them. The collected data were analyzed with the frequency analysis, the reliability verification, the correlation test, and the multi-regression analysis. As the results testing the hypotheses, the following 3 hypotheses were chosen as valid ones. First hypothesis: A nutrition teacher's servant leadership will positively(+) influence on cooks' empowerment. Second hypothesis: A nutrition teacher's servant leadership will positively(+) influence on cooks' organizational commitment. Third hypothesis: A cook's servant empowerment will positively(+) influence on his/her organizational commitment. Therefore, nutrition teachers should exercise their servant leadership so that cooks can be responsible for the quality of school meals and perform their work on the basis of autonomy and creativity. In order to perform the role of a servant leader, nutrition teachers will need to continually get various educational, training programs for enhancing their servant leadership.

Impact of the Intermediate of Empowerment on the Relationship between Servant Leadership and Organizational Citizenship Behavior (서번트 리더십과 조직시민행동의 관계에서 임파워먼트의 매개효과)

  • In today's fast changing management environment, new role of leaders is being emphasized for survival of companies, and organizational achievement must be maximized by using servant leadership strategically. Data were collected from the sample of 435 employee employed service. All analysis were conducted using LISREL 8.30. The research studies how servant leadership influences organizational citizenship behavior through psychological empowerment. The result is as follows. First, it is found that, among the servant leadership's behavior characters, except for empathy and ethics, growth, vision and community building are found to be variables that increase psychological empowerment. Secondly, it is fund that psychological empowerment of organization's members has positive correlation on organizational citizenship behavior. Thirdly, it is found that among the servant leadership's behavior characters, except for empathy and ethics, growth, vision and community building are found to have meaningful positive influence over organized citizens' behavior through psychological empowerment. Likewise, the result means the servant leadership increases organizational citizenship behavior of the members through empowerment. For servant leadership to promote organizational citizenship behavior, it is suggested to emphasize empowerment. In other words, it is important to empower subordinates for servant leadership to make more useful and complete achievement in the organization.

A Mediating Effect of Psychological Empowerment on the Relationship between Top Executives' Servant Leadership Level Perceived by Social Workers and Organizational Citizenship Behavior(OCB) (사회복지사가 인식한 최고관리자의 서번트 리더십 수준과 조직시민행동 간의 관계에서 심리적 임파워먼트의 매개효과)

  • The main objective of this study is to examine a mediating effect of psychological empowerment on the relationship between top executives' servant leadership level perceived by social workers and OCB. The subjects of this study were 375 social workers at 67 social welfare organizations in Young-nam area. The three variables: top executives' servant leadership, psychological empowerment, and OCB were measured by self-report questionnaires. In addition, this study adopted structural equation model analysis to examine the relationships among the variables. Main results are as follows: First, top executives' servant leadership level perceived by social workers has positive effected on OCB and psychological empowerment. Second, psychological empowerment has positive effected on OCB. Finally, psychological empowerment on the relationship between top executives' servant leadership level perceived by social workers and OCB has played a partial mediating role. The results of this study suggest that administrators of social welfare organizations need to exert servant leadership to generate OCB of social welfare organizations.

Structural relationship among servant leadership, empowerment and sports satisfaction of badminton coaches (배드민턴 지도자의 서번트 리더십과 임파워먼트 및 운동만족의 구조관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the relationship among servant leadership, empowerment and sports satisfaction of badminton coaches by self-leadership. Among national badminton players, total 343 copies of data were collected and used at the study by using of random sampling. The normal distribution on data and the validity and reliability for each factors were proven to confirm through descriptive statistics, exploratory & confirmatory factor analysis and reliability analysis with SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0 program. The relationship among each factors by the purpose of study were analyzed by correlation analysis and structural model analysis. The results were as follows. First, the servant leadership of badminton coaches had positive effect on empowerment. Second, the servant leadership of badminton coaches had positive effect on self-leadership. Third, the servant leadership of badminton coaches had positive effect on sports satisfaction. Fourth, empowerment had positive effect on sports satisfaction. Fifth, self-leadership had positive effect on sports satisfaction. Sixth, for the relationship between servant leadership and sports satisfaction, empowerment and self-leadership had indirect effects.

  • The subjects of following research were 663 medical practitioners working at hospitals or bigger sized medical facilities in Pusan. Among the entire research subjects, it was shown that medical practitioners are notably and positively affected when their supervisors' type of leadership was either servant leadership or transformational leadership. The types of leaderships of supervisors that are recognized by medical practitioners were transformational leadership, transactional leadership, servant leadership. The effect of supervisors' leadership according to different type of role are as following. Under the circumstance of no personal and controlled variables, the each group of different medical occupants showed notable positive effects. Nurses corresponded to transformational leaderships, while admission and discharge corresponded to servant leadership. At the same time, medical technicians were most effected by both servant and transformational leadership.

The Exploring of Servant Leadership's Theoretical Framework in the Service Industry (서비스 산업에서 서번트 리더십의 이론적 분석 틀의 구축 가능성)

  • This study analyzed the effect of Servant Leadership on leader trust and job engagement for the lower-level leader in airline crew occupations with the aim of identifying the possibility of establishing the theoretical framework of Servant Leadership in the service industry. As a result of the regression analysis, it was found that the social learning dimension of Servant Leadership has greater influence than the social exchange dimension on the leader trust, while the influence on job engagement is the opposite. The results of this analysis can be interpreted that trying to learn the words and actions of the Servant Leader is more effective in further consolidating the trust of the subordinates in the leader. On the other hand, the Servant Leader's words and actions for social exchange are inferred to have more influence on the job engagement. This study is targeted at air transport services, exposing limitations to the generalization of research results. Throughout leadership research and organizational research, including Servant leadership, further studies applying the social learning theory and social exchange theory presented in this paper are expected to produce theoretical results that will lead to the emergence of a new framework for research analysis.

  • This thesis is a study about how leadership communicates and interacts with the public and affects structure of emotions. Leadership has been paid attention by various strata, and interest about leader is gradually getting higher throughout overall society. In this situation, drama that is a medium that approaches to the general public friendly and easily and affects emotionally the public suggests problems about overall contemporary society and culture and plays a role to solve the desire. Therefore, if we analyze leadership that appears on drama, we may grasp directional nature and meaning aboutwhich figure of the leader it shows. As a research method, we use Spear's servant leadership factors, who categorized factors necessary for leaders. A soap opera named Ukssinamjeonggi that pursues a common goal to solve affairs and problems in relationships among members in an organization is selected as the analytic subject. As a result of the analysis, listening, empathy, healing, awareness, and conceptualization which are factors of servant leadership turn out to be the factors that help subordinates demonstrate their potentials; conceptualization, persuasion, awareness, and foresight are usually shown by supervisors. Servant leadership was the most effective when a leader communicates with members through middle managers to grow the community.

Effect of Security Manager's Servant Leadership on the Cohesion and Organization Outcome (시큐리티 관리자의 서번트 리더십이 응집력 및 조직성과에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to clarify the impact on cohesiveness and organizational performance of the servant leadership of the security manager. The subjects of study selected final 287 persons by using the systematic random sampling for security companies in Seoul in 2009. However, the number of cases used in the final analysis is 256 persons. Reliability of the questionnaire used in this study showed that the value of Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was above 0.796. The collected data used the methods such as factor analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple regression analysis etc. by using SPSSWIN 17.0. The conclusions are as follows. First, servant leadership has a positive impact on cohesiveness. Second, one of the factors of servant leadership, trust, has a positive impact on organizational performance. Third, individual, social cohesiveness and group cohesiveness among the factors of cohesiveness have a positive impact on organizational performance. Fourth, with the results of path analysis, servant leadership has direct impact on organizational effectiveness and indirect impact through cohesiveness. In other words, a servant leadership among the leaderships that a security worker is conscious of administrator affects cohesiveness and organizational performance in management to promote the management of the organization.
