Selection of White Asparagus Varieties Suitable for Shading Culture (차광재배에 적합한 화이트 아스파라거스 품종 선발)

  • This experiment was carried out to select white asparagus varieties suitable for shading culture in greenhouse. Eight white and one green varieties were tested. Seeds were sown in 72-cell trays in a glasshouse on 24 Dec. 2008 and the seedlings were transplanted in a P.E house on 22 May 2009. Planting distances were 30 cm apart in a raw and 125 cm between the raws. For white asparagus production, small tunnel ($210cm{\times}160cm$) was established inside the P.E house, and covered with black and white P.E film (0.1 mm) on 5 March 2010. Days to sprouting took 5 days in 'Ravel' variety and took 16 to 18 days in 'Backlim', 'Horlim', 'Herkolim' varieties. The number of spear was highest in 'Ravel' with 6 and lowest in 'Backlim' with 3.7. The spear weight was heaviest in 'Herkolim' with 25.6 g and lightest in 'Ravel' with 15.6 g. The highest total yield was in 'Herkolim' with 296 kg/10a, followed by 'Super welcome' with 275 kg/10a and lowest in 'Rapsody' with 176 kg/10a. Marketable yields in 'Super welcome' and 'Herkolim' were 241 kg/10a and 239 kg/10a, respectively, and the yield was lowest in 'Rapsody' with 139 kg/10a. The L grade (over 20 g of spear weight) was highest in 'Herkolim'. Accordingly, 'Herkolim' was the most suitable white asparagus variety among the tested varieties for shading cultivation in greenhouse.

Design and Implementation of the Stop line and Crosswalk Recognition Algorithm for Autonomous UGV (자율 주행 UGV를 위한 정지선과 횡단보도 인식 알고리즘 설계 및 구현)

  • In spite of that stop line and crosswalk should be aware of the most basic objects in transportation system, its features extracted are very limited. In addition to image-based recognition technology, laser and RF, GPS/INS recognition technology, it is difficult to recognize. For this reason, the limited research in this area has been done. In this paper, the algorithm to recognize the stop line and crosswalk is designed and implemented using image-based recognition technology with the images input through a vision sensor. This algorithm consists of three functions.; One is to select the area, in advance, needed for feature extraction in order to speed up the data processing, 'Region of Interest', another is to process the images only that white color is detected more than a certain proportion in order to remove the unnecessary operation, 'Color Pattern Inspection', the other is 'Feature Extraction and Recognition', which is to extract the edge features and compare this to the previously-modeled one to identify the stop line and crosswalk. For this, especially by using case based feature comparison algorithm, it can identify either both stop line and crosswalk exist or just one exists. Also the proposed algorithm is to develop existing researches by comparing and analysing effect of in-vehicle camera installation and changes in recognition rate of distance estimation and various constraints such as backlight and shadow.

Application of Image Processing Method to Evaluate Ultimate Strain of Rebar (철근의 한계상태변형률 평가를 위한 이미지 프로세싱의 적용)

  • In this study, measurements were conducted by image processing to do an in-depth evaluation of strain of rebar in a uniaxial tension test. The distribution of strain and the necking region were evaluated. The image processing is used to analyze the color information of a colored image, so that the parts consistent with desired targets can be distinguished from the other parts. After this process, the image was converted to a binary one. Centroids of each target region are obtained in the binary images. After repeating such process on the images from starting point to the finishing point of the test, elongation between targets is calculated based on the centroid of each target. The tensile test were conducted on grade 60 #7(D22) and #9(D29) rebars fabricated in accordance with ASTM A615 standards. Strain results from image processing were compared to the results from a conventional strain gauge, in order to see the validity of the image processing. With the image processing, the measuring was possible in not only the initial elastic region but also the necking region of more than 0.5(50%) strain. The image processing can remove the measuring limits as long as the targets can be video recorded. It also can measure strain at various spots because the targets can easily be attached and detached. Thus it is concluded that the image processing helps overcome limits in strain measuring and will be used in various ways.

A Study on the Noodle Quality Made from Hovenia dulcis Composite Flour (헛개나무 열매 분말을 첨가한 국수의 품질특성)

  • In order to develop Houenia dulcis with natural food application the effect of Hovenia dulcis fruits powder content the physical, textural and sensory properties of noodles were examined. The analysis of the contents of free amino acids showed that 17 kinds of amino acids were detected and highest in 3$\%$ Hovenia dulcis fruits powder contents. The weight and the volume of cooked noodle were highest in control the more added of Houenia dulcis fruits powder contorts lessen the weight and the volume (p < 0.01, p < 0.001), the water absorption ratio was highest in control group. Hunter color value of noodle showed that L value was 7.62 in control, a and b values were highest in 5$\%$ added group. More added Houenia dulcis fruits powder contents increased a and b values (p < 0.001). Hardness, cohesiveness (p < 0.05), gumminess and brittleness (p < 0.001) were highest in control, springiness was highest in 1$\%$ added group (p < 0.001). Scanning electron micrographs of noodle showed that more added of Houenia dulcis fruits powder contents made the particle uniform, so softer and larger. Sensory properties showed that color of noodle and herb flavor were thicker in more added of Houenia duzcis fruits powder contents (p < 0.001). The taste was highest in 3$\%$ added Houenia dulcis fruits powder contents. Overall acceptability was also highest in 3% added group (p < 0.01).

A Case of Benign Metastasizing Leiomyoma in the Lung (양성 전이성 폐 평활근종 1예)

  • Benign metastasizing leiomyoma usually occurs in women and is associated with a past hysterectomy in 80% of the cases, which is a rare entity. The patient was a 39-year-old woman who complained of cough and sputum. She underwent hysterectomy because of benign leiomyoma ten years ago. Chest X-ray showed nodular lesion in the left lung field. Chest CT showed a 3cm sized round well defined mass at left hilum with mild indentation of segmental bronchi of left upper lobe and a small tiny nodule in right lower lung field. Nodular lesion of left upper 1000 was resected by thoracotomy. Pathological evaluation showed benign spindle-like cells having nuclei without cytotic atypia similar to those of benign leiomyoma. Immunohistochernical stainings for desmin and smooth muscle actin were positive. Therefore these nodules are considered as benign metastasizing leiomyoma from a uterine leiomyoma. We report this case with the review of literature.

Quality Characteristics of Sponge Cake upon Addition of Paprika Powder (파프리카 분말을 첨가한 스폰지 케이크의 품질특성)

  • This study investigated the quality characteristics of sponge cakes with addition of paprika powders prepared from different cultivars. Powders from the special cultivar(FDFP: freeze dried fiesta paprika powder) and the fiesta cultivar(FDFP: freeze dried fiesta paprika powder) were used. The specific gravities, viscosities, heights, specific volumes, colors, textures and sensory evaluations of cake dough containing 2, 4 and 6%(all w/w) paprika powders were measured. Specific gravity and viscosity tended to increase on addition of paprika powder. Cake height and specific volume tended to decrease on addition of paprika powder. Substitution of paprika powder for flour also resulted in decreased yellowness and lightness, and increased redness, of the cake crust. The hardness of cakes containing paprika powders was higher than that of control cakes without paprika powders. Thecolor of the cake crust became darker as the amount of paprika powder increased. The results of sensory evaluation by quantitative descriptive analysis showed that the overall acceptability of sponge cakes containing 4% paprika powder, from either cultivar, was higher than that of control cakes without paprika powder.

Comparison of the Genetic Safety of Transgenic Rice in a Large-scale Field Study (대규모 GM포장에서 형질전환벼의 유전적 안전성 비교)

  • The importance of genetic stability and bio-safety in the environment has recently been recognized for many (genetically modified) GM plants. This study evaluated the GM safety of transgenic rice and its environmental variance. Data on agronomic characters and principal component were collected for vitamin A-enriched GM rice and four check cultivars in a large GM field trial during 2009-2011. The cultivation environment was a large GM field and a greenhouse. In this experiment, there was no significant difference between the agronomic characters of the GM rice and those of a donor plant, 'Nagdong'. In terms of grain characteristics, the appearance and physicochemical characteristics of the GM rice and those of the donor plant were similar. However, the grain of the GM rice developed a white core and a white belly when planted in the greenhouse. The type and distribution of dominant weed species were not different in the GM rice and the 'Nagdong'. In addition, gene flow was not detected in the dominant weed species based on PCR analysis.

Exploring the Effect of Qihyul-therapy for Recovery of Qi Circulation in Body (인체에서 기혈(氣穴) 순환 회복을 위한 기혈테라피의 효과 탐색)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether Qihyul-therapy was effective against subjects of bad Qihyul circulation who had narrowed muscles of the buttocks, a distorted body shape, or pain. Methods: Qihyul-therapy used. Results: The muscles of the buttocks remained almost untouched. The elasticity of the muscles restored. The skin tone brightened, and the anal muscle strengthened after Qihyul-therapy. The subject's body was shifted to the right by -7°. The right arm was about 6 cm longer than the left arm. But after correction, the right arm was about 5 cm shorter. The distorted body was almost balanced. After neck and shoulder correction, the distance between the collarbone and neck was 7~10 cm wider. After the pelvic correction, the pain in the buttocks was relieved, and the position of the hip joint returned correctly. The right leg that was turned 45° to the left was corrected, and the length became the same. Subjects had no knees attached, their right knees were up 5 cm above the left, and their ankles bent at an angle of 30 ° relative to the left, but after correction, the knees of the two legs stably attached. The height of the knee became the normal angle. Conclusion: If the Qihyul-therapy, the spine correction Qihyul-exercise and the pelvic correction Qihyul-exercise performed steadily, the deformed body shape restored adequately, and it is useful to prevent and cure related diseases by alleviating the pains.

Quality Characteristics of Korean Domestic Wheat Flours Produced Under Double Cropping System on the Paddy Fields (남부지역의 논에서 이모작 작부체계를 통하여 생산한 국산밀의 품질 특성)

  • 본 연구에서는 남부지역 논의 이모작 작부체계로부터 생산한 국산밀의 품질 특성을 살펴보았다. 벼 및 이의 대체작물(검정콩, 참깨, 들깨)과 연계한 작부체계별로 생산된 국산밀의 제분율은 모든 토양에서 70% 이상으로 높았으며, 밀가루의 색상은 전작 작물의 종류에 따라 색도(L*, a*, b*) 값과 백색도 지수가 변화하였다. 특히, 흰색의 정도를 나타내는 L*값과 백색도는 벼 전작 토양에서 수확한 밀에서 높았다. 그러나 다량 및 미량 영양소 함량은 벼 전작물 토양에서 수확된 밀에서 낮았고 대체 작물을 전작한 토양에서 생산한 밀에서 대체로 높았다. 다량 영양소 중 P와 Mg의 함량과 미량 영양소 중 Zn와 Cu의 함량은 검정콩을 전작한 토양에서 수확한 밀에서 특히 높았다. 국산밀의 회분, 단백질, 아밀로스와 손상전분 함량은 각각 0.45-0.59%, 7.7-9.5%, 22.3-24.0%와 5.0-5.9%이다. 국산밀 중에 조경밀은 단백질 함량이 다른 품종에 비해 높고 질이 우수하여 제빵용으로 이용되고 있는데, 본 연구에서는 작부체계에 관계없이 전체적으로 10% 이하로 낮은 특성을 보였다. 그나마 검정콩을 전작한 토양에서 수확한 밀에서 9.45%이며, 벼를 전작한 토양에서는 8.0% 이하로 극히 낮았다. 또한 SDS-침전가도 검정콩 전작 토양에서 수확한 밀에서 높았으며, 회분 함량은 0.6% 이하로 1등급에 해당되었다. 논토양에서 참깨나 콩, 들깨 등의 벼 대체 작물들의 전작은 토양의 물리화학적 특성을 개선하고 제빵공정에 좀 더 유리한 고품질의 밀을 생산하는 데 이바지할 수 있음을 보여준다. 그러나 검정콩-밀 작부체계의 생육일수(344일)가 벼-밀(331일), 들깨-밀(337일), 참깨-밀(310일) 보다 길어 앞뒤 작물의 작기 연결성에 있어서 여유가 없었으며, 기상환경의 변화에 따라 검정콩의 수확시기가 늦어지게 되면 밀 파종 시기와 겹칠 수 있는 우려가 있다. 차후에 시비 기준을 달리한 조건에서 밀의 생산성 증대와 더불어 최고 품질의 밀을 생산할 수 있는 체계를 확립하고자 한다.

Chemical Characteristics, Antimicrobial Activity and Dyeability of Gyeongsanbansi (Persimmon kaki) Unripe Juice Extraction and Fermented Liquor (경산반시의 미숙감 착즙액과 발효액의 화학적 특성, 항균성 및 염색성)

  • This study was conducted to examine the chemical characteristics, antibacterial activity and dyeability of several juices made from Persimmon cv. 'Gyeongsanbanshi'. Young fruits of persimmon were harvested at 1st August, 2006. Fruit juice was extracted soon after harvesting, some of them were stored at $4{\sim}6^{\circ}C$ for 6 months or fermented at room temperature for 6 months. $L^*$ values of vinegar was 43.5 higher than those of fresh juice and fermented liquor. Inorganic matter contents in fresh juice, fermented liquor and vinegar were higher in the order of K ($1696{\sim}2880\;mg$/100 g), Ca ($166.7{\sim}417.9\;mg$/100 g), Mg ($203.9{\sim}214.4\;mg$/100 g), P ($37.9{\sim}109.8\;mg$/100 g), Na ($13.2{\sim}23.3\;mg$/100 g) and Fe ($8.4{\sim}14.2\;mg$/100 g). Cotton fabrics dyed with the fermented liquor and vinegar had the largest inhibitory zone against the gram-positive microorganisms with range of $16.0{\sim}35.0\;mm$. Cotton fabrics dyed with the fresh juice showed $9.0{\sim}9.5\;mm$ inhibitory zone against the gram-negative microorganisms, $15.0{\sim}21.0\;mm$ with the juice stored at $4{\sim}6^{\circ}C$ for 6 months, $22.0{\sim}23.0\;mm$ with the fermented liquor and $9.0{\sim}35.0\;mm$ with vinegar. The hue of cotton fabrics dyed with the fermented liquor had a YR levels, and antibacterial activity of them were 78.5%.
