Field experiments were conducted to study the effect of amendments such as lime and organic matter for mulberry trees on the newly reclaimed sandy loam soil for three years. The results are summarized as follows. 1. Compared to the N.P.K check plot with treatments, leaf yield was increased by 20 to 80%. Leaf yield was higher in the order of NPK+magnesia lime < NPK+compost > NK+fused phosphate NPK+green manure > NPK+barley straw> NPKplot. 2. Mulberry leaf yield showed high significant positive correlation with total weight and volume of root, length and number of wattles and the content of CaO or MgO in leaf respectively. 3. It is known that dead part sympom of top branch during cold season is associated with unbalance magnesium to potassium in mulberry leaf. It is estimated that such symptom was deminished when the ratio of $K_2O/MgO$ in leaf becomes 6.0 or higher. 4. In establishing a mulberry field on hilly reclaimed soil, application of magnesium and calcium with compost was essential but higher amount of potassium fertilizer should be followed in order to prevent dead part symptom of top branch of mulberry trees.

Silk Road is the term involving all traffic roads connecting the East to the West, and ancient Korean culture has became globalized through Silk Road. In this paper, natural environment of Silk Road is considered as fundamental data in order to understand the Western culture introduced through Silk Road. Silk Road region is classified into Loess Plateau district; arid basin district; and high mountains district; Hesi Corridor(河西回廊) is the transition zone that the southeastern part of $W{\breve{u}}w{\bar{e}}i$(武威) is Loess Plateau district; other northwestern part is arid basin district Loess Plateau district, composed of homogeneous fines, has experienced dramatic soil loss by bringing under cultivation. At recent times, reforestation and construction of check-dam have been in operation to cope with this problems, Arid basin district; although at midlatitude, is desert climate because it is far from the ocean and is surrounded by high mountains. Oasis of Hesi Corridor is continuous linearly, but that of arid basin district is sporadic. In $H{\bar{a}}mi$ and $T{\breve{u}}l{\breve{u}}f{\bar{a}}n$(吐魯番) fruit-growing using karez flourishes, And glacier of $Ti{\bar{a}}nshian$(天山) Mts. and $Q{\bar{i}}lian$(祁連) Mts. is very important to arid basin district because of supplying water resource. In the tundra zone surrounding alpine glacier, are distributed widely solifluction lobes and earth hummocks.
This study was carried out to establish a proper cultivation condition and diagnose the drought-tolerance of three wild edible greens belonging to genus of Ligularia by using pressure-volume curves methods. The result of the original bulk osmotic pressure at maximum turgor ${\Psi}_{\circ}{^{sat}}$ was -0.8 MPa in Ligularia fischeri and L. stenocephala, which was somewhat lower than the value, -0.7 MPa, in L. fischeri var. spiciformis. In addition, the values of the osmotic pressure at incipient plasmolysis ${\Psi}_{\circ}{^{tlp}}$ in L. fischeri and L. stenocephala, both of which were -0.9 MPa, These were slightly lower than that of -0.8 MPa in L. fischeri var. spiciformis. On the other hand, it appeared that the values of maximum bulk modulus of elasticity $E_{max}$ of L. fischeri and L. stenocephala were approximately two times higher than that of L. fischeri var. spiciformis. However, There was a distinct difference between the values of the relative water contents in these three species. Therefore, Ligularia spp, occurring incipient plasmolysis in the high water contents, have a relatively low property of drought-tolerance, suggesting that growth of those Ligularia spp. are appropriate for relative moisture forest.
To investigate the distribution of vascular plants growing at Apsan park, we surveyed from April in 2018 to October in 2019. The flora of Apsan park was classified as a total of 721 taxa comprising of 114 families, 382 genus, 619 species, 5 subspecies, 77 varieties, 12 forma, 5 hybrid, 3 cultivation. Among them, The Rare plants species 23 taxa, endemic plants 15 taxa, floristic regional indicator plants 98 taxa, naturalized plants 57 taxa were recorded. The percentage of urbanization index was 17.76%, the naturalized ratio was 7.91%, respectively.
This pot experiment was conducted to find out the optimal fertilization ratio of the anions (N : S : P) in various soil conditions. Soil samples were collected from uncultivated mountains and hills where development for grasslands is under consideration. The optimum ratios were computed by the $Hom{\grave{e}}s$ systematic variation technique. The results were summarized as follows : 1. The optimum fertilization ratios of the anions (N : S : P) for the high yields of grass - clover mixed sward at various areas were obtained (Table 5). 2. The grass yields in mixed sward were increased by the increase of specific soil characteristics, CEC, OM, T-N, avail-$P_2O_5$. However. it was not recognizable by the contents of the cations, the base saturation, and the pH. 3. The relatively high yields of clover were positively related to the Ca and Mg contents in soils, and it was a factor of the increased total yields of mixed sward. 4. The relatively high optimum fertilization ratios of S in volcanic ash soil in the Cheju district and P in sediment lithosol in Daegu should be taken into account in determing the fertilization rate for high yield of clover in mixed sward.
Farmers typically apply the dressed soil (coarse saprolite) for various reasons in the sloped upland with high altitude in Kangwon province. However, little researches on the impacts of application of dressed soil in uplands were conducted. Therefore, it is necessary to assess soil quality in this area and to study adverse effects on soil and water due to application of dressed soil. Coarse saprolite itself showed signiScantly poor chemical properties, Particularly P and organic matter contents were not enough for crops to grow. With respect to biological qualities such as enzyme activity and microbial population, coarse saprolite itself showed poor qualities. For example, bacterial population in coarse saprolite contains six times or ten times smaller populations. Based on survey at Jawoon-ri in Hongchon-gun, this region is susceptible for soil erosion due to massive amounts of coarse saprolite application, undesirably long slope length, etc. When weestimated soil loss, more than 40% of farming field in this region exceeded $11.2MT\;ha^{-1}\;yr^{-1}$. According to experiment by installing sediment basins. the sediment basin with up-down tillage and application with dressed soil had the highest soil loss and runofT, while the sediment basin with contour tillage and without soil dressing showed the lowest soil erosion and runoff.
To investigate the effects of C. E. P. A(2-chloroethyl phosphonic acid) on the ripening of tobacco leaf, the effects on the yield and quality of leaf tobacco, this experiments were carried out during the period of from 1970 to 1971 at tobacco experiment station, Sosa, Korea and 3 locations. The results are summarized as follows. 1. The higher the C. E. P. A concentration was, the more the leaf ripening was accelerated. During the period from 3 to 4 days after treatment, the differences of leaf ripening among levels were prominent. 2. Treatment with C. E. P. A only on the upper surface of the tobacco leaf, accelerated the ripening of that particular part treated, but not apparently the other parts of leaf. 3. Distinctive acceleration of leaf ripening was, obserbed in the fully develope1lower leans, however, the upper leaves were indistinctive. 4. The higher C. E. P. A concentration was, the more the effect of ripening acceleration was. But the yield was reduced over 900ppm because of the low of growth of leaves and the reduced yield was 90% at the 3, 000ppm. So the proper concentration was regarded as 900ppm. 5. In the view point of the days of C. E. P. A ripening acceleration, it was shortened one days at 100 ppm, three days at 300ppm, three days at 450ppm, four days at 900ppm, seven days at 3, 000ppm. 6. In the point of curing process, it was possible that the curing time and fuel was reduced 29% and 45% respectively in the C. E. P. A treatment than the check. 7. Therefore, if it is treated the C. E. P. A at 900ppm in the tobacco cultivation, the quality shall be increased 13.5% and the price shall be increased 12% in the 10 Are. In the point of subsidiary affect, it is possible that the C. E. P. A ripening acceleration is shortened about 7 days at 3, 00ppm and curing time is shortened about 24 hours.
The trade deficit in mushrooms has continued to increase in recent years. This study explored major issues and challenges faced by the mushroom industry to increase export, and to prioritize the current issues and challenges based on their relative importance. 11 major issues and challenges in the mushroom industry were highlighted in focus group interviews. Best-worst scaling analysis prioritized these major issues and challenges, and questionnaire surveys were completed by 31 mushroom industry experts. The results revealed that strengthening the mushroom quality and price competitiveness were the main priorities, followed sequentially by a diversification of the overseas export markets and stabilization of the domestic mushroom price.
Bog bean (Menyanthes trifoliata L.) is an endangered species in Korea and a perennial macrophyte with long rhizome, inhabiting in oligotrophic fen or edges of montane lakes. To decide appropriate substrate type for restoration of this plant, we investigated the effect of substrates (e.g. water, Sphagnum mat, paddy soil) on growth of bog bean. There were two water conditions on paddy soils: saturated and flooded. We planted 10cm rhizome in mesocosms and measured coverage, leaf area, leaf number and rhizome biomass. Bog bean growed until August in water and Sphagnum mat and until October in paddy soil. Rhizome biomass at the end of November were 49, 77, 239, and 312g in water, Sphagnum mat, paddy soil with water saturated, and paddy soil with water flooded conditions, respectively. The results indicate that bog bean can grow better in paddy soil which have higher nutrient than water or Sphagnum mat which represents natural habitat condition of bog bean. This reveals that actual ecological niche of bog bean is different from fundamental ecological niche in substrate. For successful restoration of bog bean in nutrient rich area, it is necessary to know the competitiveness of bog bean in various substrate conditions.

'Luckyone 2ho' is a new orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.) cultivar developed by the National Institue of Animal Science (NIAS) in 2017. To develope the new variety of orchardgrass, 5 superior clones were selected and polycrossed for seed production. The agronomic growth characteristics and forage productivity of 'Luckyone 2ho' were examined at Cheonan from 2012 to 2014, and regional trials were conducted in Cheonan, Pheonchang, Jinju and Jeju from 2015 to 2017, respectively. 'Luckyone 2ho' showed medium type growth habit in fall, and medium in length of flag leaf and very long upper internode. Plant height of 'Luckyone 2ho' was 3 cm less than that of standard cultivar, 'Potomac' and heading date was 1 days later than 5th May compared to standard cultivar, 'Potomac'. Characteristics such as waterlogging and disease resistance of 'Luckyone 2ho' were stronger or better than those of standard cultivar, 'Potomac', Especially, dry matter yield of 'Luckyone 2ho'(15,980 kg/ha) increased 9 % compared to that of standard cultivar, 'Potomac'(14,702 kg/ha). Nutritive values were appeared to be similar in both varieties except in Vitro dry matter digestibility(IVDMD) and crude protein and total digestible nutrients (TDN).
