Engineering Design Education based on Three Essential Design Technology Factors (설계기술역량 3요소 기반의 공학설계 교육)

  • It is a fact that current engineering education is insufficient to cultivate engineers who can fulfill industrial demands. Engineering colleges and the government have expended much effort to develop new education model to overcome these shortcomings. The purpose of the present research is to formulate direction of engineering design education to cultivate talented engineers meeting engineering and industrial needs. We compared and analyzed Creative Design Project (3) (a core subject in engineering design) from the feedback of practising engineers, professors and students based on essential design technology factors and the educational achievement contents of ABEEK. The three essential factors of design technology which are prerequisites for the designers to implement design work were selected by surveying experts in the field of device design of cellular phone company. Moreover, educational purpose of the professors, educational achievement of the students, and educational direction of industry needs are deduced based on the three factors. It is also ascertained that Creative Design Project (3) meets most of the requirements of industrial design field by comparing and analyzing deduced results.

The Allocation Precedence of the Limited Same Resource to the Concurrent Activities under Multiple Criteria (다기준하 동일 한정 자원의 배당 우선순위 결정)

  • This study provides a effective approach to the construction management problem with the limited number or amount of available resources using the analytic hierarchy process. Construction management is a series of decision making processes for planning and controling of cost, time and quality as main objectives in construction works. When several activities need the limited same resource at the same time, it is very hard to decide the priority of the activities in the real situations. For that the scientific decision making method and procedure for resource allocation are required. This study solves the resource allocation problem by dealing with the decision making problem which the activities are distributed to multiple projects and under multiple criteria. The analytic hierarchy process is a method devised to solve complex multi-criteria decision problems. The result shows that this study can be effectively used to make decisions in situations involving multiple objectives by evaluating the prioritized ranking and degree of the activity alternatives based on the overall preferences.

Job Analysis of Fashion Model's (패션모델의 직무분석)

  • This study has been carried out in an effort to bring light on the job scope which is required among the fashion models in Korea, then to sort out the concrete items of job pursuant to the job scope for the systemization of them. For this study, ten models who majored a fields of industry and the college in Korea, have gathered to analyze the job of the fashion models using the DACUM. As a result of it, the jobs of the fashion models have been classified into 7 duties and subsequent 86 tasks, while the fashion models entry jobs have been divided into 32 tasks(37.21%) that are necessary in the college before appointment. The result of analysis which investigates the relation between the significancy, the degree of difficulty and the frequency of the business, has it that the number of high-significancy business rises to 46 tasks(53.49%), high degree of difficulty business reaches to 21 tasks(24.41%), high frequency business is 18 tasks(20.93%), high degree of significancy and difficulty business stands at 13(15.12%), high significancy and frequency business amounts to 16 tasks(18.60%), and high degree of significancy, difficulty and frequency business reaches to 7 tasks(8.14%) respectively. These results should be actively reflected on the college curriculum before appointment, and on the job retraining courses for the incumbent fashion models, so as to enhance their job competency.

Development and Application of Instruction Program using 3D Sketching Software for 'Planning for Residential Space' Unit of NCS-based on Interior Design Subject (NCS 실내디자인 과목의 '주거공간 계획하기' 단원에서 3차원 스케치 소프트웨어를 활용한 수업 프로그램 개발 및 적용 효과)

  • In recent years, space planning ability using 3D sketch software is required in the working field of interior design. However, vocational high school do not respond appropriately to changes in the industry, because the class of vocational high school consists of hands-on practical classes and 2D CAD based classes. There is a shortage of 3D sketch software-based instruction programs that can improve students' spatial planning skills. Therefore, this study is to develop instruction program using 3D sketch software for 'Planning for Residential Space' unit of NCS-based on interior design subject and to find out the effect on students' academic achievement by applying to vocational high school class. The 3d sketch software based instructional program developed in this study was developed through four stages of preparation, development, implementation and evaluation according to the PDIE model process. The experimental design model used nonequivalent group posttest-only design in this study. Experiments were conducted on vocational high school students in construction and 9 hours of interior design subjects were applied. After the experiments, students were tested for academic achievement in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor areas. As a result, the instruction program using the 3d sketch program developed in this study was found to be more effective in improving students' academic achievement than existing manual instruction program in both cognitive, affective, and psychomotor areas.

A study on the Possibility of Utilizing and Management Course Assessment type of National Technical Qualification at Industrial Secondary Vocational High Schools (공업계열 직업계고에서의 과정평가형 자격 도입 가능성 및 운영 방안 연구)

  • The purpose of this research was to draw implications for preparing utilizing and management course assessment type of national technical qualification based on the awareness of teachers in industrial secondary vocational high schools. To achieve it, this researcher analyzed the awareness about management course assessment type of national technical qualification of teachers at industrial secondary vocational high schools and analyze possibility to introduce course assessment qualification, degree of agreement for expected effects, and importance and necessity for the matters to be considered when introducing management course assessment qualification. Concrete results of this research are as follows. First, the degree of understanding management course assessment type of national technical qualification at industrial secondary vocational high schools was common, but the degree of agreement for introducing goal, purpose, and necessities was low. Second, for the expected effects to be obtained when acquiring course assessment qualifications, there were acquisition of qualification at the same time of education, suggestion of studying goal from an angle of concrete and significant performance, systematic education based on NCS, possibility to develop and form training career, and possibility to acquire industrial field-centered knowledge and technology in order. Third, to draw priority of each item to be considered when introducing course assessment type of national technical qualification at industrial secondary vocational high schools, the importance and necessities were analyzed. As a result, for the sectors whose requirements are more than average, there were flexibility of course assessment type qualification classes, preparation of proper measure by NCS revision, relief of edited classes of necessity ability unit, etc.

Case study on design and construction for cross-connection tunnel using large steel pipe thrust method in soil twin shield tunnels underneath airport (공항하부 토사 병설 쉴드터널에서 대구경 강관추진에 의한 횡갱 설계/시공사례 연구)

  • On the road and rail tunnels, the evacuation pathway and facilities such as smoke-control and fire suppression system are essential in tunnel fire. In the long twin tunnels, the cross-connection tunnel is usually designed to evacuate from the tunnel where the fire broke out to the other tunnel. In twin shield tunnels, the segment lining has to be demolished to construct the cross-connection tunnel. Considering the modern shield TBM is mostly the closed chamber type, the exposure of underground soil induced by removal of steel segment lining is the most danger construction step in the shield tunnel construction. This case study introduces the excavation method using the thrust of large steel pipe and reviews the measured data after the construction. The large steel pipe thrust method for the cross-connection tunnel can stabilize the excavated face with the two mechanisms. Firstly, the soil in front of excavated face is cylindrically pre-supported by the large steel pipe. Secondly, the excavated face is supported by the plugging effect caused by the soil pressed into the steel pipe. It was reviewed that the large steel pipe thrust method in the cross-connection tunnel is enough to secure the construct ability and stability in soil from the measurement results about the deformation and stress of steel pipe.

A Comparative Study of the Vocational Education Training in Germany, Switzerland and Austria (독어권 국가의 도제훈련제도 비교연구)

  • The apprenticeship training is given as a solution of the youth unemployment problem. The apprenticeship is a system that companies hire and instruct trainees and is implemented in various countries. In Korea, there is a Korean work-learning dual system which is managed by the government rather than the company itself. This Study analyzed Germany, Switzerland and Austria's apprenticeship training system and compared common factors of apprenticeship system, a trainer in company and cost-benefit analysis. The result of the study can be shown as follows. First, Germany operates practical training, meanwhile Switzerland and Austria provide a pre-education course before students enter the upper-secondary VET course. Second, Germany and Switzerland give a single type apprenticeship training, whereas Austria runs a modularization system, which enables students to specify their skills and improves clarity. Third, social partners as well as the government, states, companies/schools actively participate in apprenticeship. Fourth, there is a suitable trainer's qualification system in all countries. Finally, Germany and Austria's companies cause larger cost than benefit in apprenticeship. On the other hand, Switzerland gets larger net-benefit than cost. We can give implications to the Korean work-learning dual system based on this study.

An Empirical Analysis on the Working Conditions of Construction Technician (건설 기능인력 근무여건에 대한 실증 분석)

  • The construction phase of the construction project needs a large scale of manpower, materials and equipment. Among them, manpower is a core part for project construction. These manpower are divided into two groups. The first is the management group that manages the construction, and the second is the site technician manpower for construction work. Recently, construction company has suffering due to the insufficient supply of technician labor. Accordingly, this study will perform an empirical analysis about the construction technician. To do this, we surveyed related research trends and conducted surveys on the satisfaction of the construction technician. The result, satisfaction with pay and insurance was relatively low compared to other items. Therefore, this study were conducted in-depth interviews with technician managers in order to analyze the cause. In addition, case analysis was conducted to analyze actual working conditions. As a result, it was analyzed that the wage level and insurance system of construction technician were considerably stable compared to the manufacturing industry. The result of this study is expected to contribute to the activation of excellent technician cultivation through the change of recognition about construction technician.

Case Study of SM Entertainment on the K-Pop Visual Directing Strategy (K-Pop 비주얼디렉팅 전략에 관한 SM 사례연구)

  • This study examines the process and scope of visual directing through the case of SM Entertainment, and explores the role of visual directors. As a result of the case study, SM created the visual directing team composed of art director and visual designers within the creative headquarters and was actively introducing visual directing for the development of idol. The visual directing process of SM, which is being developed as a part of the star marketing, consists of analyzing the environment in marketing strategy, establishing marketing strategy related to idol, setting up target image per artist, and finally planning and managing the visual directing project. The visual director in SM is required to have creative talent, logical persuasion, information analytical ability, visual expression ability, and field application ability. SM also applies visual directing accumulated from idol singers to SM business areas such as MD product design and production, product composition and designer collaboration, and SM town COEX artium. This paper have significance in attracting visual directing to the academic field.

Development and Application of a NCS-based Reference Operation Model for Contract Departments of the Korean Work-and-Study Parallel Colleges (한국형 일학습병행제 대학 계약학과의 NCS기반 표준운영모델 개발 및 적용)

  • Recently the Korean life-long occupational skill development system is undergoing rapid change and innovation on the basis of NCS (National Competency Standards). In order for the NCS-based occupational training system to be successfully established, it is required to be accepted and applied in the higher education. Universities, however, hesitate to adopt NCS-based contracted education programs of the work-and-study cooperative system due to low relevance of university education to industrial needs and absence of the reference operation model for the NCS-based contracted education programs considering Korean small companies' particular needs. This study aims to develop and apply a reference operation model for NCS-based contracted education programs of the university-linked work-and-study parallel system, focusing on the Department of Mechanical Design Engineering of College of Work and Study in Parallel, Koreatech. In addition, several operational guidelines are suggested within the framework of current law and regulations for successful diffusion of the NCS-based reference operation model. The results of this study are expected to contribute to nation-wide proliferation of NCS-based contracted education programs in the higher education and motivating companies and universities to participate in the work-and-study parallel initiatives.
