Merge Control using Reserve Ahead Point in Baggage Handling System (수하물시스템의 사전할당지점을 이용한 병합제어)

  • A baggage handling system (BHS) in airport is an unified system for moving the passengers' baggage in designated time. Input baggage from the check-in counter travels to the baggage claim area or cargo handling terminal through this system. In particular, entryway BHS consists of conveyors, X-ray and sorters such as tilt-tray to send the baggage to departing airplane and it could have various problems for handling certain amount of baggage in restricted time such as baggage jamming at certain merge point. This causes systemic error such as delay of the time, omissions of the baggage and even breakdown of the equipment and inefficiency. Also the increasing maximum time of the baggage passing through the BHS could delay the flight schedule and finally decrease the service level. Thus, the algorithm for controlling the flow of the merge is essential to the system. The window reservation algorithm is the one of the most frequently used methods to control the merge configuration. Above all, the reserve location, so called reserve ahead point, that allocates the window is important for the performance of the algorithm. We propose the modified window reservation algorithm and the best reserve locations by changing the reserve ahead point in the induction conveyors. The effect of various reserve ahead points such as the capacity and utility of the system were analyzed and the most effective reserve ahead point combination was found. The total baggage processing time and the utilization of the tilt-tray are properly considered when choosing the optimal Reserve ahead point combination. In the layout of this study, the configuration of four conveyors merged into one tilt-tray is studied and simulation analysis is done by AutoMod(R), 3D simulation software. Through the simulation, the window reservation algorithm is effectively operated with the best combination of reserve ahead point which reduces the maximum baggage travel time.

  • The Internet of Things era is approaching where all the things are equipped with smart sensors and communicate through internet. The three core technologies of the Internet of Things are 'detection technology' to get information from things and the environment, 'wired and wireless communications and network infrastructure skills' that support to connect things to the internet, and 'service interface technology' that processes the information appropriate to various services. Smart sensor application can expand to smartphone, smart cars, smart home systems, wearable electronic devices, telemedicine systems, and environmental monitoring systems, etc. In particular, technologies that mimic the five human senses. This study reviews the biological principles of the human senses and the principles of operation, research & development status, technology trends and market analysis of the sensors.

  • Security awareness and training are becoming more important as cyber security incidents tend to increase in industrial control systems, including nuclear power plants. For effective cyber security awareness and training for the personnel who manage and operate the target facility, a TEST-BED is required that can analyze the impact of cyber attacks from the sensor level to the operation status of the nuclear power plant. In this paper, we have developed an HIL system for nuclear power plant cyber security training. It includes nuclear power plant status simulations and specific system status simulation together with physical devices. This research result will be used for the specialized cyber security training program for Korean nuclear facilities.

  • Embedded Controller which controls whole system is most important part of embedded system. Nowadays, new technique called SoC is more using than ASIC. But SoC have some problems. Because of long development time and high cost, it is hard to applying SoC to small and medium enterprise. So many companies use IP technique combined with embedded processor. High resolution inkjet marking system is printing system with embedded controller. It is used in various part of industry. But it has many problems such as printing quality, marking errors, system faults and so on. In this paper, we designed and implemented IP that can solve the printing quality problems. We analyzed total-logic-elements and timing by simulation. As a result of simulation, we could verified that output signals satisfied reference timing. Appling IP to high resolution inkjet marking system, we could get good quality printing message.

  • In the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, manufacturing is the implementation of smart factories through digital transformation, and refers to consumer-centered intelligent factories that combine next-generation digital new technologies and manufacturing technologies beyond the existing factory automation level. In order to successfully settle such a smart factory, it is necessary to train professionals. However, education for smart factories is difficult to have actual field mechanical facilities or overall production processes. Therefore, there is a need for a system that can visualize and control the flow and process of logistics at the actual production site. In this paper, the logistics flow of the actual site was implemented as a small FMS, a physical system, and the production process was implemented as a digital system. In real-time synchronization of the physical system and the digital system, the location of AGV and materials, and the process state can be monitored to see the flow of logistics and process processes at the actual manufacturing site. The developed digital twin system can be used as an effective educational system for training manpower in smart factories.

  • Recently the solution integrated of vision and motion controller which are important element in automatiomn system has been many developed. However typically such a solutions has a many case that integrated vision processing and motion control into network or organized two chip solution on one module. We implement one chip solution integrated into vision and motion controller using Zynq-7000 that is developed recently as extended processing platform. We also apply EtherCAT to motion control that is industrial Ethernet protocol which have compatibility for open standardization Ethernet in order to control of motion because EtherCAT has a secure to realtime control and can treat massive data.

  • In this paper, we describe the design of a fusion labeling system which is controlled by the Wi-Fi signals. The Current labeling system which is used in the industry is designed to work independently on the production line not connected with internet network services. For such reasons, it is very inconvenient for the labeling system to transfer such labeling data of the production line to the server computer. We propose a labeling system connected to the Wi-Fi service being able to send real-time transmission of labeling data. This system can supply the labeling data of production line to the server computer in realtime and improve the production quality than the existing system.

  • In this paper, a new master arm was developed as an input device of the remote control system for easy control of the industrial robot arm; it has a structure similar to the robot arm and is easy to wear. For control of the slave arm, related equations were derived about the joints between the master and slave arm; and thereby using them, the master arm control system was developed. Furthermore, a control simulator was developed for the convenient and accurate control of the slave arm. Experiments, about controlling the slave arm in applying the master arm, were performed to validate the developed simulator and the derived related equations.

  • 홈 네트워크의 산업이 급속도로 성장하고 있지만, 홈 네트워크를 구성하고 있는 가정용 기기들이 다양한 서로 다른 통신 방식과 네트워크, 적용분야 등으로 홈 네트워크 서비스를 제공하는데 문제시되고 있다. 새로군 네트워크 기술과 홈 네트워크 서비스가 등장을 하더라도 일관된 홈 네트워크 서비스의 제공과 수용을 할 수 있도록 위해서는 홈 네트워크를 구성하고 있는 기술의 표준화가 필요하다. OSGi는 게이트웨이상의 서로 다른 기술 또는 타사의 서비스간에도 통신이 가능하게 하는 표준 기술을 제공하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 OSGi가 탑재한 홈 게이트웨이에서의 홈 네트워크 서비스의 요구사항들을 살펴보고, PLC통신 기반에 가정용 제어 기기들과 OSGi의 프레임워크가 탑재한 홈 게이트웨이와의 네트워크를 구현하고, 음성인식과 PDA로 홈 기기들을 제어하는 서비스 제공을 위한 설계와 구현을 하였다.

Simple Structure LED-Driving Power Converter with High Power Factor (높은 역률을 가지는 단순 구조 LED 구동 전력컨버터)

  • This paper proposes the simple structure LED-driving power converter with high power factor. As the proposed power converter combines the PFC boost converter and the conventional flyback converter into only one power conversion circuit, it simplifies the structure of LED-driving power converter. Thus the proposed converter is controlled using only one PWM controller IC, and it achieves high power factor, constant output voltage/current and cost-effectiveness. Therefore the proposed converter is suitable for the industry production and utilization of LED-light-system. In this paper, the operation analysis and design example of the proposed converter are explained, briefly. Also experimental results of the prototype that is implemented based on the designed circuit parameters are shown to validate operation characteristics of the proposed converter.
